I found their prices unreasonable with very little detail and explanation provided by customer service. I experienced a series of service calls to ultimately diagnose and replace a faulty furnace vacuum switch ($30 part online). The issue was originally misdiagnosed and total service charges totaled $750. The charge to replace the $30 pressure switch was $256 (with less than 30 mins onsite to repair). When I contacted customer service, the manager was unsympathetic to my concern and said their charges were based upon 'standard pricing' and could not explain the labor/parts breakdown or why the charges to replace a $30 switch ultimately totaled $750. There was one misdiagnosed repair to replace a draft fan motor included in the $750 total. I do not recommend using this company for any repair.
We have been dealing with Smith & Keene for over 22 years. They installed our original air conditioning/heating unit in our home - and we believe the only reason it's still running well is thanks to Smith & Keene. We have maintained a service contract with them during that time whereby they inspect the A/C in the summer and the heating unit in the fall. Whenever we've had to call them about an issue - which has been RARE - they have had a technician out either the same day or the next day. In fact, we just had a minor issue earlier this week - and we were pleasantly surprised that not only were they able to dispatch a tech THAT AFTERNOON - the cost of the repair was also quite low. We would not consider dealing with anyone else. They have proven to us that they are reliable, knowledgeable - and they know the true meaning of customer service. Called them after discovering my water heater is a direct vent which is kind of rare. They quoted me $1200. After talking to a couple other plumbers, I called back to ensure they were coming to do my system as the direct vent. They said yes, direct vent, see you tomorrow. When they called to say they were on the way to my house the next day, they told my wife it would be $1900, because, guess what, it's a direct vent system. I'd understand if I'd just done the one call and missed what my system was, but I called back! Very shady, with a well-earned rep for being expensive. The plumber who told me to call them back came in at $1600. Shop around.
This is the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with in regards to anything. The serviceman has been to my home four times total, and we have gone so far three weeks in November with no working heat. First time: Order part. Second time: Go to install part, but then order another part he didn't notice the first time. Third time: Go to install other part. Fourth: Oh, now the whole unit needs replacing. I feel like if the unit is beyond repair, that is something that would be noticed the first time or two someone goes to look at it, considering it's their profession. Nothing about anyone's demeanor has been sympathetic or professional, either. If the warranty wasn't through this company, we'd have gone somewhere else long ago. Awful. Just plain awful. A disgrace to the service industry as a whole.
I had a brand new trane air-conditioner installed. made a big mess, had leak upstairs, had them come back 4 times before everything working and they fixed the ceiling that was leaking from pipes from air-conditioner.
had them check air under the warranty the first year no problem, then the 2nd year under the 2 year warranty that they had, they came JUST TO LOOK AT AIR_CONDITION, but for some reason they started checking the gas furnace. said the heat exchanger was bad. they ordered new one and charged me $700 to put in. (i told them they weren't here to check my furnace)) they shut down the unit told me for safety reasons so i had no heat during a week in the winter, that's when all the trouble started, they installed it, didn't work right, had them come back, and come back and come back, decided to pay someone to inspect unit and wrote up a whole lis of things done wrong, installation foam that should have been around the unit was laying on the floor. he said it looked like someone tried to fit a square into a round hole. my son-in-law called to try and get them back here, they never returned his calls. heating system shut off now its summer, still trying to get them here. now my air conditioner is acting up intermittent, today couldn't get it started so called another company to look at it, 90 outside 85 inside. he looked at it and said exactly what the inspector said. and more the unit had now fallen over and was crushing on a air flow causing the air-conditioner to freeze, he said it was in serous condition and dangerous. my son-in-law wanted to get smith and keene to fix it. but honestly don't want them in the house again. decided to buy brand new unit at a cost of $3,500 which i really cant afford. i am a window and i think they just took advantage of me.
Our heating went out Monday night, and Smith & Keene came out and diagnosed the problem.... gave us options.... and then completed the repairs.... Great Staff, Great Products.... Great Company!!!
I have used Smith and Keene for over 25 years and have never found a fault with their techs or their service. If the Lord is good to me, I'll be using them for 10-15 more years.
Super impressed with Smith& Keene. Mr. Robert was timely, professional and honest. He wore booties on the carpet and left the work area clean. He fixed my heater in under an hour for a very reasonable price. I’m so happy with the service call that I signed a contract. Highly recommend Smith and Keene.

S & K installed our 2 zone HVAC system back in 1992, and we have had the annual service contract with them ever since. If we have a problem they get to us right away and take care of it. Do not use them. Our heat went out in the middle of the night so we tried calling the emergency 24/7 number but no one answered, and the mailbox was full, we couldn't even leave a message. Thank god for Russell's Heating & Cooling. They came out and fixed everything in a timely manner- anyone needing something repaired I would absolutely call them instead of Smith & Keene

My AC was not working properly and they installed a circuit breaker which appeared used. They did give me a 10% break on my bill for that. They also chared the unit with 410a. The unit still was not working properly so I called another company who had to clean the condensor coil of the 410a which had overflowed. I was charged $419 by Smith and Keene and $141 to have their work removed.

Very profressional, the only negative was that a few areas were not cleaned up afdter replacing the cleaned vents. That was no big deal in comparison to all of the other extra items he accomplished at no cost. Worth the money. I see the difference in my home already.

Everything was explained to me before the work was done. Very detail in hos explanation of services he will be providing.
The duct to my dryer was blocked and clothes were taking four times as long to dry. When Dan heard my problem , he came right away. We could not have been more pleased. He had the proper equipment to get the job done. We have hired him to come next week and clean our 25 heating/cooling vents and 4 cold air returns. He will insert his camera in each vent and clean only those where he detects...

The person who came had the time to walk around and look for my specific needs. Even when I thought I needed all the ducts to be cleaned, he was honest on telling me that just some of them needed to be cleaned.
