Help us make it rightI took in one garment to replace a simple fastener, returned the following week to discover the owner had opened the garment to begin the job, decided she didn't feel like it after all, and handed it back to me with stitches left open and the advice that I "take it somewhere else". And along the way, she had a dodgy little opinion or two to share about the business practices of Jewish people in pre-WW2 Poland. In keeping with truth in advertising, I would advise renaming this business Stitch Unless I Change My Mind With a Complementary Side-Order of Antisemitism Lite. I'm never going back, you have been warned.
Should rename her store "Stitch-When-I-Get-Around-To-It"
First let me state that I have been going to Margaret for over a decade. She has mostly done good work, even when I was not entirely happy, I never complained. Well all that has changed. She must be on meds that she is not taking.
She recently altered some clothing for me, and after 2 delays that she didn't call me and I made another trip to pick up my stuff (3 weeks at this point), and paid a premium amount and left. I felt somewhat content. I got my pants and it was sunny out. I dropped of a $250.00 wool jacket a few days later to have the sleeves shortened one inch. She assured me it would be completed in 10 days. After a couple days, I returned with the pants that I paid $18.00 to have them hemmed and told her they seem too long. She agreed and said she would shorten them another inch for free. She said I could pick them up with the jacket.
Today on the day everything was due, she called me (well at least she called this time) to tell me that she would not shorten the hem on the pants, and that if I wanted my jacket done, it would be another week. She said she didn't want anything to do with me. Really? What? Keep in mind I hadn't spoke with her since I dropped off the pants the second time. I asked her why and she said she was sick and too busy. I said on the phone okay, I'll be down to talk about this.
She was once again rude and said I don't have time for you. Time for me? I am a customer, I paid $28.00 for pants to be shortened and two buttons to be sewn on a couple shirts. She handed me my pants and my jacket (That was never touched) and told me to leave. This is not the sign of a reputable business, especially one that claims to be "In A Hurry". I CAN NOT RECOMMEND HER. She is a little mentally unstable. Use her at your own risk. I won't be back. Margaret you have lost my 10+ years of dedication to you and your business.
Twice now I have brought in clothes to be altered, and twice I have been refused service. The first time, when I brought in a few skirts/pants to be hemmed, she tells me "I won't be able to have...
Ive been taking small sewing repair jobs here for years and always the woman is sweet and does a wonderful job within a week or so for an affordable price. Today I stopped in with my favorite jeans figuring I'd have them back in a week but she sewed up the rip right in front of me, chatting pleasantly all the while, and ten minutes later I was on my way WITH my jeans fixed for only a few bucks!! I couldn't be happier with Stitch in a Hurry!!
I stopped by here to have my smock for work sewed when I ripped it on the way to work. I was expecting to have to come back for it and instead they sewed it while I waited. Took like 2 minutes! Great place!
i took a skirt in to be sized. was promised it in a week. Five weeks later, after many promises of it being done the next week, i finally had to take it elsewhere. this persons sewing skills are fine but they cannot prioritize their jobs and i got the feeling that my $50 skirt alteration kept taking a back seat to other jobs that were easier and turning around more cash. The whole point of getting the skirt done was to wear it to an upcoming event which i was unable to do because i was never called to say it would not be ready, it just was never done.
Pros
+ the owner has good sewing...
