This restaurant (dine in/to go) has the best crab cakes my wife and I have ever tasted. It's made mostly of crab meat and very little breading if at all. The fried shrimp, scallop, whitting and strip of mussels (which taste like fried calamari) are very lightly breaded with corn meal. My family and I have been eating at this restaurant since 1985. We don't mind commuting 17 miles to this restaurant. TRY IT AND GUARANTEED YOU KEEP GOING BACK.
Good for what it is: a seafood fry house. My mother in law loves to come here when she visits. Service is very friendly.
This placed was actually owned by a guy named Steve for as long as I can remember, then he sold it. My mother worked there when I was a kid, and I spent...
To confirm, the food (aside from a few sides and desserts) are all fried. That being said, it's kind of hard to really mess it up or make it all that...

It is a small diner, the food is good and it comes out constantly. Battered and fried, very fresh, it is the way fried fish and seafood should be.
Service with a smile and kindness :). It is my first time eating at Old Hampton Seafood and my experience was very pleasant. The young lady that placed my order was very patient and courteous. We waited about 15 minutes for our order which was well worth the wait. My partner and I ordered the fish and shrimp combo. The Fish And Shrimp are freshly made to order. Delicious. Thank you staff :)
Best catfish and coleslaw in town! Couldn't imagine eating anywhere else. :)
Great Food!!!. The food was delicious. The fish was fresh and the shrimp were huge and succulent. The envoirnment was quaint and friendly. Family owned. I would highly recommend!!!!
Awesome on all accounts. Great experience! Ultra friendly.
WOW!!!!!!!. At 7-11 (This place is right next door) after smelling something delicious coming from Old Hampton Seafood decided to try it out. As my title says “WOW” the crab cakes were amazing and the young lady at the counter who took my order was very pleasant. The cook came out several times to check on us and as it turns out she is the owner, super friendly and funny. I will definitely...

Mrs. Ella is amazing!! Cute little spot. I love seafood and this place hits the spot. I never liked Tatar sauce until I came here. They make their own recipes and it's amazing!! It's all fried so not the spot if you're looking for something a little healthier. Sometimes can be a little salty but otherwise good.
Went to #Old Hampton Seafood Kitchen in Hampton Ordered when they first opened up a 2 piece fish and a fish sandwich with everything. You would think it would have been excellent & juicy. NOT! There was a good number of bones and sections so tough it couldn't be swallowed on both pieces but a significant amount on the 2...

This place use to be owned by a church across the street and it was the best seafood shop in town, far from that under the new ownership. Portions are relatively small and the price is kinda prices. Cozy eat-in place with a nice patio. In the downtown area of Hampton near the Space Museum. A lot better places in Hampton than this one and you can get more for your money.
If you blink, you will miss this place and if you do, you will be sorry! This restaurant has real southern charm and flavor to match. I ordered the seafood platter and only got through about a third of it! For $16 you got clam strips, shrimp, scallops, fish, crabcake, hush puppies, cole slaw and fries!!!!
Anytime I am in...
I was looking for awesome fried seafood and I got awesome fried seafood!! Ella and Dezi were super hostesses and I cannot stress how good the food was. We both had the seafood platter (very...
I ate there for lunch and made a simple order, and the wait staff gave me poor service. She displayed a rude and condenscending attitude and had to ask me several times what I wanted on my sandwich. In addition, the fish sandwich had too many bones, I would not recommend this restaurant if you want good food and good service.
As the other reviewer mentioned, all the food is fried - and the taste was OK. There was good variety (shrimp, white fish, scallops, soft-shelled crab, clam strips). Because it was made to...
I absolutely love this place ever since I was a kid. The food is amazing and the prices are reasonable. The workers are very friendly and they always greet you with a smile on their face. I wish they were open seven days a week though, every time I crave them it just so happens to be the day that...
If you are a local and do not know where the seafood market is, find it! It is a unique place where you can purchase fresh local catch seafood or sit down for a meal of the same. All of the fixin's are made the old fashion way---fresh. Hand chopped coleslaw, homemade hush puppies, excellent fish and award winning clam chowder. ( Ask to see the blue ribbons)
Lots of pictures of local history...
Took my husband there because some coworkers and I ate there about 4 our 5 yrs ago. I hardly ever go down that street but on this particularly day, we did. I instantly remembered the place while waiting at the intersection light.
Upon entry, I instantly felt that something was different but couldnt put my finger on it.
Anyway, there...
Small place with limited seating inside and out. Has been operating for many, many years and is a local favorite.
I agree with lisa, food is great but not enough for what you pay.Only been there once very friendly and i enjoyed..........
Good seafood, but the portions are too small for the price.
This is a very cute little seafood shack in downtown Hampton - it only has 4-5 tables inside, but there is outside seating as well. Very friendly people. I'm not really into deep-fried food, but when in Rome..... I found the fried fish and shrimp to be much better than the crab cakes. I like crab cakes with large lumps...
I accidently found this wonderful little fry house, tucked away in downtown Hampton. Evidently this place has been there for years. As we drove buy the yummy smell of fried fish consumed us. So in we went to see what they had to offer. I found a very friendly owner at the register and after inquiring about what to order...
I absolutely enjoy the food. This is one of the best seafood restaurants on the peninsula. I'd like to get more seafood and less fries.
One of my two favorite places in town. I'm there every Hampton Minister's Confrence. It isn't fancy and doesn't need to be. The food and the prices make this place a must visit!
I miss you. I have not found a place like you since moving back to New York. Everytime I visit Hampton, I am always sure to stop by.
The old Hampton Seafood kitchen is fast food style fish and chips place. The fish is fresh and hot and crispy, the batter not too thick. I have eaten here a number of times and am always pleased with the fish and chips I order. The coleslaw is very good but they never have enough. I have only been able to get it once, because they are always sold out. You get a free refill of ice tea. The...
