Help us make it rightLunch with a friend, too long since my last visit, will be back soon.
Found this little gem on Open Table--menu sounded good, we just wanted a light lunch, salads sounded good. BUT the daily burger special sounded so good that we ordered that and a salad, then split. Both were delicious and certainly more than enough. Service was attentive and friendly. We went a bit late, but restaurant was nearly full of obvious locals: several business-type groups, a couple of...
The service was absolutely outstanding. The server was very attentive to our needs. The CA Pinot Noir was a perfect pairing, as recommended by our server, for our food. Everything was perfect. We will be back. Thanks
How I wish I could afford to eat here more often ... it's worth taking on a second job, really. :-) Such care and attention is given to food here, and the service is quite extraordinary. Clayton and Kevin are among the best waitstaff in the city. The flavor profiles are bordering on magical ... if it sounds like I'm gushing, I am. Even the bread is a marvel. Chef Neil is the Thomas Keller of...
Early Valentines Day celebration. Chef is a CIA guy and it shows. We had a view of the open kitchen and watched the orders in preparation and as they made it through the pass. Our mains were - pork good, lamb shank awesome. Potatoes amazing and veggie side was pretty and tasty. Wine prices are very reasonable and the selection is good. I like the basic bistro approach here, not a ton of...
Very enjoyable evening. My wife's prawns were excellent as was my New York Steak. The steak was a bit underdone (med rare, ordered medium) but delicious. We would recommend and will return to Cochon!
Cochon was simply amazing. The staff was attentive and professional and the food was amazing. What a great place!
Totally delightful from the handcrafted tables to the beautifully prepared and presented foods. Our part of four had zero complaints and we wish we lived closer so we could come back regularly.
We dined at Cochon on second St for our 12th anniversary and it was fantastic. We brough our own special bottle of Caymus (paid $20 corkage fee) and they provided an exquisite swan like decanter and happily light our wine breath properly.
Fantastic !!! We had a great time and a great meal.....
Our evening at Cochon was outstanding. Clayton, our server, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the items on the menu and gave us good advice on our wine selection. He was friendly and checked on us often. Chef Neal visited us at our table and we had such a nice chat with him.
Charming restaurant but the food was a great disappointment. Undercooked scallops and overcooked beef. Our meals were sent back for "correction" but did not improve. The waiter, Clayton, was attentive but could not make up for expensive meals that were not edible. Asked for a "tall" scotch and was charged for a double ($28) Needless, to say we will not be returning.
Took my daughters to Cochon for a special night out. We had a fabulous time. The service was wonderful and carefully walked us through gluten free options. The food was amazing - seriously amazing. Everything from the bread to the sides was extremely tasty. We tried the scallops and the tuna. Both dishes were beautifully done. We chose to share a salad between 2 of us - no issue. Loved the...
Cochon was recommended by someone we met at a wine dinner elsewhere. We thought it would be a traditional French restaurant, so initially we weren't thrilled when we saw the menu. BUT it turned out to be a fantastic meal! The food was delicious. The owner/chef visited every table to say hello. We told him that we had wanted scallops because we had seen them on the web menu, but that the server...
Great Food, Service and Atmosphere. By far one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg. We look forward to trying every item on the menu.
We were immediately greeted and seated. The menu had our special occasion and names on it. The appetizer i wanted was not on the menu but the chef made it for me. The food was outrageously delicious, every bite we wanted more. Our server described everything perfectly and was very attentive. Great place, great food.
I've been to Cochon several times and never disappointed. The service is always good and the food is different from what you find everywhere else. Lunch is mostly salads and sandwiches - more options at dinner. I would definitely recommend it.
Our book club met here, and they had given us a quiet table by the window where we could talk. The fresh roses and tall candles were beautiful and made this feel like a special occasion. The server was very attentive and polite, while even the manager came over to ask about both the meal and the book.
Our waitress, Jessica was amazing. She was friendly but knew when to leave us alone. I liked the atmosphere and the aroma. I would go back soon.
Very popular. Expect a wait even with a reservation. Overwhelming crowding at the entry the night we went. Clayton, our server, was exceptional. Attentive but not intrusive service. All of our entrees were VERY good, with little creative twists. Dinner can be pricey, but I have also been here for lunch which was excellent and more affordable (...but still requires a reservation). This will be a...
Exceptional food. Hubby had pate and duck special while I had the rib appetizer and yellow fin tuna. I loved the ribs and was given 6 so I took 2 home (hubby had one). Best to be shared but crispy and a little spicy. Hubby loved his pate. Duck dish was over udon noodles and had some kick. Hubby said that the smoking of the duck beforehand ensured very little fat. He loved it. The tuna was...
Simply fantastic. The story behind its chef is so interesting. Moody was a pig on his grandfather's pig farm in Suffolk ,VA. Wait to see the decor. Really great. The Cochon, ie pig in French, is excellent and a terrific addition to much needed fine dining in Williamsburg. May it join the ranks of other of our stable of excellent restaurants. We can use one more!
The menu was unique and had something for all tastes. The food was delicious altho heavy on butter. U could ask to leave some off which I do not think would change the taste. The food was fresh and much was local. The service was very good. The desserts were excellent. The value was good . Plus I had to take half home to keep room for dessert. And the half made a meal the next day . It was...
Stellar food, wine, service and atmosphere!
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The salmon soup was amazing! From the moment my wife and I entered we found the serving staff, Hosts, and Chef exceptional!
Very enjoyable, we met there as a half way point with visiting family members. The food was great and we were not rushed. Great server.
Decided to try Cochon on 2nd after hearing a lot of great reviews. The atmosphere is upscale with a casual twist. Service was good but not great. The menu is not very big, however a good selection & variety. Our main courses were cooked well and we enjoyed them... For dessert we ordered creme brûlée & was very disappointed. It was a very small ramekin and the sugar on top was very burnt. We...
Our third visit to Cochon. We are locals and have found a new favorite!! Food was yummy, waiter was excellent, atmosphere was cozy and friendly. Complements to the entire staff!
Our server was attentive and engaging, checking with us frequently to ensure the meal was satisfactory and whether we had any further requests. The menu offered an alluring array of choices, from starters through desserts. Our meals were skillfully prepared just as we had requested, showing excellent communication between server and chef. Presentation was very attractive.
Cochon is our favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. The food is always perfectly prepared and presented. My mouth waters just thinking of the delicious selections the chefs prepare. Deciding what to eat is the most difficult decision. The service is warm and friendly and efficient.
We loved it. It was one person's first visit; she ordered the burger and loved it. In addition the staff was very accomodating as I had made late reservation. We each felt very special. I know we will be back.
My wife and I ate there for dinner one evening. I had the New York Strip and my wife had the Tuna. We had the sticky ribs for an appetizer. The food was excellent and cooked precisely to our preference. My wife had the signature Cosmo and commented that it was excellent. The service was outstanding as our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had a 545 reservation so it was a little slow but...
Extraordinary meal that is worth the extra $$$. Definitely a memorable meal, perfect for a special night out with your spouse or get together with friends. From expert but unpretentious wait staff to the exquisite food this will be a meal worthy of the occasion! So glad to have a restaurant of this caliber in town. Leave the kiddies home, you'll have a great night!
delightful lunch, great service. Recommend highly
Two of us had the arugula, fig, and Parmesan cheese salad, which was very good. Three had the Cesar salad. Everyone said it had a lot of mayonnaise in the dressing and was not like Cesar salad at all. One of the three who had the salad didn't care for it at all. The two who had the lamb dish enjoyed it, but the four of us who had the duck were disappointed. It had no flavor and mine had gristle...
First the positive. The service was stellar. Very attentive and the meal was timed perfectly. Ambiance was very nice, and the prices were extremely fair considering we purchased a prix fixe meal.
Our server, Jessica, was fantastic and provided excellent service. We enjoyed great wine and beer and food. We missed the rockfish from our last visit but that is the way the seasonal ball bounces - the salmon was very good, too. We appreciated being able to enjoy our three courses as some conversation without being rushed. Note to potential diners - this is not a kid's restaurant. There were...
Fantastic evening with wonderful food and service! All three of our meals were superb and dessert was to die for! It was full of guests but bot at all loud, We will return soon and often!
My husband and I hosted our family to dinner here last night and can't wait to go again! Service is impeccable--warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Great cocktail and wine menu. We started with the tuna tartare, oyster cocktail, Caesar salad, and goat cheese salad. Appetizers are beautiful and generous enough to share. Our fave was the oyster cocktail, with plump Rappahannock oysters lightly...
Food was bland, table wasn't ready when promised. Server was excellent and very friendly. Restaurant ran out of bread.....seriously, how do you run out of bread. Owner/Chef was rude. Couldn't order anything from the bar menu if you were sitting in the dining room. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to trying this place. Would never go back.
Food was excellent. Wife had the scallops, which she loved. She is a light eater and the portion was just right for her. I had the pork chop. Outstanding! Our waitress was helpful and attentive, patient as well (wife is a picky eater). Nice, relaxing atmosphere to celebrate our anniversary.

One of the very best meals I've ever eaten in Williamsburg,VA. Delightful ambience, fantastic & unique menu, & superbly delicious food for a great price. I highly recommend this place!
First time visiting, met another couple for dinner. Service was great. Wine list was great. Food. Amazing. Everyone ordered something different! I had the pork chop, hubby had the tenderloin, another had Salmon and another had chicken. Perfect size portions. The blue cheese potatoes were amazing. We will be back. Lunch menu looked like it would be worth checking out too!

Lovely lunch today, thanks! Enjoyed our first visit very much, especially seeing our friend Melissa there
EPIC - I ordered three appetizers (Fire Cracker Shrimp, Sesame Tuna Roll and the Sea Scallop) with a red wine pairing and it was fantastic - the tuna in particular is notable for the breading. Sitting at the Chef's table allowed for food prep observation and interaction with Neil and his team - very fun. Finally, I ordered the Chocolate Mousse and was blown away - it's the bomb! Most of all, as...
The environment and atmosphere is both classy and familial. The furniture has an old home feel while the lighting, open kitchen and excellent wait staff (specifically a gentleman named Collins) was extraordinary. The food is cooked on a true wood-burning grill (I asked) and apparently is the only true wood-burning grill in Williamsburg (no gas, just wood). The food was beautifully plated, rich...
Cochon on Second St will feature hand crafted artisan food
