My wife and I and another couple had dinner there a month ago. I was not expecting much based on the location (in a strip mall) and because it wasn't one of the "restaurants" I hear about often. Well, I was wrong. The food was great! The chicken parmesean with the side of pasta had the best sauce I have ever eaten. Everyone loved their dinners and the wine. It was truly one of the best meals that we have ever eaten in Hampton Roads.
Absolutely the best on the Penninsula! My husband and I were looking for delicious vegetarian fare during our Lenten observance. We have given up eating anything with a face for 40 days--so that creates a challenge for us, especially in a seafood area. But now that we have found Al Fresco, we need to look no further! My eggplant dish was scrumptious(it was an expanded appetizer), and his wild mushroom ravioli was exquisite! We topped it off with a delectable tropical sorbet encased in whhite chocolate. Bellissima! Our waitstaff was attentive and friendly, and had the best suggestions to make our meal memorable. We will return to dine there during Lent, and come back again when we're eating seafood! Bravo!
We were a party of 10 for lunch and the food was absolutely fantastic. We had each ordered something different and had a wide sampling of most of the menu. The service was just as great as the food. We were seated out in the patio area which was very pleasant. If you love great Italian food and professional service this is the resturant to visit. My friends insisted that I mention the various desserts available, again we all ordered something different and it was a totally out of the world experience.... definately a place to have a beautiful meal and experience.
If you want true Italina food this is the place to go. Right after walkign though the doors you are swept away by the delicious smells and the wonderfull atmosphere. The staff is wonderfull and the food... . My husband and I found this restaurant a few years ago and fell in love with it. One occations we will try out other Italian Restaurants but are alwasy disappointed by their food, and wish we would have just come here. All the dishes are made to order so you can add or substiute ingredients (including Garlic). We love the bread and the salad dressing is to die for. The always offer great specials and the desserts a a dream.

If you need a night of good food with helpful and prompt service, then set your destination for Al Fresco. Then you need to sit back, relax, and enjoy. On a four day trip to the area, this was the best meal and service we had on the trip.
