Editorial reviews from the web (1)

On the western edge of Yorktown Battlefield, the Yorktown Victory Center has wonderful exhibits and demonstrations that bring to life the American Revolution. Textual and graphic displays along the open-air Road to Revolution walkway cover the principal events and personalities. A renovated Declaration of Independence entrance gallery and long-term exhibition, The Legacy of Yorktown: Virginia...

Loved Biking Williamsburg! Love coming here so much history! Didn't know there we so many original buildings still standing, a place to come back too!

The Visitor Center, Victory Center, and Battlefield tour are well worth the time. The last major campaign resulting in an American is well explained here with a film and museum with period artifacts and a gift shop with nice souveniers, memorabilia, and excellent books about the siege and battle. We visited quite a number of years ago and found the...

Although the facility is in the midst of renovation, there a lot of hands-on activities for families for which to take advantage. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. A combination ticket for the Victory Center and Jamestown Settlement can be purchased at a discount.

While the existing Yorktown Victory Center is open, they are building a new facility which appears to be more like the Jamestown facility. This should be a real positive activity because, frankly, the flow of the existing theater and museum was terribly confusing. The introductory movie was OK but didn't provide enough background that led up to the Yorktown battle....

Although the Victory Center is excellent, it is going to expand next year. Right now it cannot compete with Jamestown settlement but that should change by next year. Sill a great stop in the Williamsburg area.

Business description (4)

The Revolutionary War ended with the Battle of Yorktown in October of 1781, and the event is well commemorated at the Victory Center. There are marvelous inside exhibits that take you through the war. The outdoor re-enactments depict farm life in the 18th century. This is not a place to rush through but to savor the experience of what it must have been like for inhabitants of Tidewater...

A Museum of the American Revolution: America's struggle for independence, from the beginnings of Colonial unrest to the formation of the new nation, is chronicled through the stories of citizens and soldiers in gallery exhibits, a film, and outdoor living history at this center. Visitors can muster with troops in a re-created Continental Army encampment and help with chores at a recreated 1780s...

As the Revolution was brewing, General Washington and his Continental army camped at Yorktown. This re-creation is just a short distance from the original site of the battle that won the American Revolution in 1781. Re-enactors at Yorktown demonstrate musket drills, colonial cooking and war-time medical practices. At a model 18th-century farm, you can help weed the garden, spin flax into thread...

Rising to revolution, the Continental Army led by General Washington encamped at Yorktown. This re-creation is just a short distance from the original site of the battle that won the American Revolution in 1781. Re-enactors at Yorktown demonstrate musket drills, colonial cooking and grim war-time medical practices. At a model 18th-century farm, you can help weed the garden, spin flax into...
