I had been there once in the past about a year ago and thought the meal was good. Decided to try it again for a birthday celebration. The week prior friends went for lunch and described poor service and bland food. We stuck with our plans and decided to give it a chance. Service was good, but we narrowly missed having the "poor" waiter described by our friends. Food was a bit hit and miss....
I was disappointed by my server's lack of attention, including not bringing an ice bucket for chilled wine, not taking care of the bill when I gave him my card at the beginning of dinner to surprise my girlfriend, and generally not coming by our table.
Even for January, the restaurant was very quiet for a Sunday evening. I didn't realized that most of the seating appears to be outside on the deck. However, our view was still delightful. The butternut squash soup was superb as was the braised ribs. The lobster roll was quite flavorful but I should have passed on the raw oysters. I believe that was the genesis for my GI upset later that night....
Food was not as good as expected. For such a concise menu I was expecting more. We had a 530 reservation on a Saturday but they were unable to seat us at a table with a view although that was primarily why we chose the restaurant. Servers were attentive. All in all the experience was mediocre.
Food was great, atmosphere was great, staff was great - Especially Carlos, the Miatre D.
