Keagan's Restaurant
Have been two times because I always give a second chance. The cigarette smoke is too strong, I'll have to either not go back or maybe another shot after they go smoke-free.

Fire Ninja Sushi & Chinese Bistro
I have been a local "Foodie" to the Norfolk/VA Beach area for over a decade and have enjoyed the diverse food scene and friendly faces of the area. This restaurant was tipped-off to me by a fellow foodie and long-time friend. I plan to publish a full review on chowhound.chow.com/ in the near future, but I have a problem non-food related that I felt compelled to warn others about. Anyone that dines more than twice a month can tell you that a restaurant is MORE than just good food. Its about atmosphere and the immediate community. Luckily, this establishment is located in a great part of town where there is no shortage of friendly faces. However, herin lies the problem. I had the unfortuante pleasure of having to deal with the manager there. My server misunderstood my entree order, which is beyond forgivable given her constant attention to my dining experience, but when I explained the honest mix-up, the manager immediately stormed off to reprimand my server. I'm guessing there was some sort of language barrier because she disappeared and never did resolve the issue professionaly (or at all, really). She literally IGNORED US. After 20 minutes of watching our server come back and forth I could tell she was getting very frustrated so I eventually walked up to the front and paid for everything and left. This was definitely the worst experience I have ever had with the management of any restaurant as far as I can remember. I'm undecided as of now whether this place is worth a try or if one should just skip over it because of the poor management. Although this place can easily clean up a bit and perform as a top-rate bistro, I can't see that happening with such lack of professional customer service.

Texas Roadhouse
The wait is too long. The waitstaff was very good, but the food was a bit of a let down. Although many people liked it, i would not recommend to anyone. Go to Outback instead

Alize Bistro
Disgusting! Bad food and pathetic service. My steak should have been served with a tourniquet. Considerably less than prime beef.

O'Sullivan's Wharf of Virginia Beach
Yesterday I was introduced to a new recipe for "etoufee'. The vegetables were not finished and served over pasta. The roux was water and six shrimp occupied soft space. It was terrible. ($17.00 plus).
Two other customers were quite happy with their meals.(Shrimp and Scallops) Service was fine.

good customer service, fast delivery, bad pizza, overly greasy, soggy, thin crust and no sauce, be sure and request sauce as it is not standard.

Aldo's Ristorante
I went to Aldo's with my fiancee for a romantic dinner which started out wonderfully. Our table was ready when we arrived, the waiter hospitable and helpful. There was a live pianist that sat in the middle of the quaint dining room which became more a hinderance for conversation as the night grew on but still romantic. I ordered the veal chops stuffed with spinach and fresh mozzeralla, the best I have ever ever eaten and on this exception alone, I would return again and again. The night was great until the end when they sat a lively group that arrived for a birthday party right next to us in the quiet dining area and they were so loud the pianist just left and took a break. Alltogether a pretty good dining experience. I would recommend it.

Gringo's Taqueria
You definitely need to be into local, neighborhood-y places...which I am, so it worked out well. Very small space, so if you're claustrophobic, stay away for sure. I just moved here from San Diego, so I was looking for some good Baja-style cuisine, and Gringo's fit the bill. However, it's quite expensive - expect to pay $7 or $8 for a single taco (they're big...but would be about a buck or 2 in San Diego). Wine pours make it worth it, though - they pour a half-bottle per glass! My date and I sat at the bar and found the staff to be quite friendly - talking to us about the food preparation and local culture, etc. We'll be back often, but we also live in the area (not sure that we'd drive far if we didn't live close).

Fiorell's Italian Restaurant
Hidden treasure! We discovered Barclay's by luck. After scouring the local area for a nice restaurant with less than a 45 min wait, we stumbled across this quaint dinner room. First off, there was no wait on a Saturday night at 6 (it was like they were waiting for us). It's not too fancy, and not to lax...very relaxing. The prices are moderate to high, but worth every penny. The staff is friendly and accommodating. After a splendid meal we finnished with the crème brulée which was amazing!

Baker's Crust - Norfolk
Although the food is appealing (try the crepes), the service is so-so. The atmosphere warm & inviting but service could use a renovation. Overall, every time I come to visit my family we always manage to drop by.

Frankies Place For Ribs
Had dinner at Frankie's new location off Virginia Beach Blvd. The food is still good and the prices are about the same. The menu is missing some of the favorites from the old Laskin location. That's the good news. The bad news is that the new location is really lacking in personality. I felt like I was eating in a sub shop rather than a sit down restaurant. I left really missing the old location.

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt
Handel's has the most wonderful ice cream. Their ingredients are always fresh and plentiful. You get a huge scoop of ice cream for a great price and the sundaes are out of this world. Definitely worth the trip. It's always fun to try a different flavor.

Sand Bar & Grill
The food while plentiful was bland and luke warm. The place was crowded and jumping (I went on a Friday night). The D.J., if you could call him one, had little concept of how to keep things fun and appeared to be just playing songs off of his laptop. The rum and coke was more coke than rum. Be sure if you go to park around back, the parking in the front of the building is next to impossible to get out of.
