Belonging to a credit union has some perks, which is why I opened my account there, but there have been a lot of problems as well. In the 8 years I have had an account, they have put MY money into a couple other peoples accounts by mistake (one time it was $100 mistake that led to an overdrawn check!). Great small bank

This is a great bank if you live in the area and want to put a face on your bank. The tellers are all super sweet and they really do get to know you. There are convenient ATMs all over the city, and best of all there is interest checking. The only down side is you can only have one accoutn per person, so if you want an individual and a joint account, you'll need to go elsewhere.
