7 Days of Happy Hours: Drink on the Cheap All Week

Can seven days of happy hour happiness be experienced in Washington, D.C.? Of course.

Sure, this is a city notorious for cocktails that run in the double digits and small plates that cost an arm and a leg, but it's also home to some happy hour deals found seven-days-a-week.

In this Eater guide, there are two spots to choose from each day. The first option is a way to save at fancier bars and...

Find King Cake, Beignets and More for Mardi Gras

St. Patrick's Day isn't only for the Irish, and Fat Tuesday on March 4th is a celebration that has become similarly universal. Plenty of non-pious people embrace the joie de vivre and laissez les bons temps roulez and restaurants are no exception. Many are getting into the celebratory spirit and making traditional Cajun dishes, pouring Louisiana beers, and keeping the parties going so revelers...

A "late-20s crowd" flocks to this "lively" upstairs bar at Logan Circle's Pearl Dive restaurant, where "bocce ball", creative pizzas and inventive cocktails poured by fedora-wearing bartenders make it one of the "hubs of the nightlife scene"; the artisanal libations can get "expensive", but the "long, narrow" space (complete with crimson walls and retro-theatrical decor) "fills up fast"...

16 Plates of Nachos Eater Readers Love

We asked; you answered. Eater readers had plenty to say on the topic of D.C.'s Best Nachos. Some takeaways: readers really like barbecue-topped nachos, and often bars do nachos better than sit-down restaurants. Readers also aren't afraid of some less traditional takes, such as seafood nachos. Here are 16 batches of nachos that got the nod from fans, listed in no particular order, courtesy of...

D.C.'s Best Happy Hours

Happy Hours in D.C. run the gamut — they can offer everything from cheap beer to free food to a less expensive way to experience a pricier restaurant. Eater has rounded up 16 favorite happy hours in the city (listed in no particular order), with an emphasis on showcasing a variety of happy hour styles. But this is just the creme of the crop — there are tons of other stellar happy hours out...

This place has an overwhelmingly bad smell. It was so unpleasant from the time we reached the top of the stairs to arrive at Black Jack. I had planned to order some food with my drink, but...

A rather intimate spot, but nothing special. My partner and I went to Black Jack for a birthday drinks celebration, and overall, I felt it was a cozy place to have either a group or just drinks for two. At the same time, there are so many new and different places popping up on 14th Street, I didn't really see what was different or special about this place.

Went twice in two days -- first time was around 6 on a Saturday with a group of 4; second time was around 8:30 on a Sunday with just 2 of us. Saturday our experience was great -- the place was...

This place is amazing. Drinks are on point, and so is the staff. Delicious food, as you would expect from Black Restaurant Group. They do seafood like no one in DC

Ugh so crowded. Expensive well drinks. Would pay $8-9 for something slightly more elaborate than a basic gin and tonic. At least they used Seagrams, instead of something worse. Positives: even...

Black Jack is Pearl Dive Oyster Palace’s cooler-than-thou, theatrically dark-lit, hipster-pleasing upstairs bar. It’s a dazzling circus-like, Moulin Rouge-esque space with dark red curtains, neon golf signs, and red lighting—so much red it could double as a darkroom! Adding even more character to an already colorful bar is a side lounge that contains a silent film projector, a spectator gallery...
