There should be a rule about giving yourself 5 stars.....and if the poster of that 5 star review comes off as angry, that is exactly what you can expect when you call them.
My daughter had he car towed...fine. They towed her car, that is their business, again, fine. I am stationed in Germany, my daughter had her purse in the car when it was towed, They refused to go the car to get her purse for her. Because the car was in my name, the ONLY way they would release it was with a MAILED letter with a copy of my ID.....and of course they charged by the day! So my daughter had no wallet for five days while I mailed a letter.....from Germany. I am sure there was another way to work this, but the people on the phone were incredibly rude and argumentative when i asked about that.

For all those who are angered by your car being towed should first check out your states towing laws before bad mouthing a family run business that is regulated by the state. From who, what, when and how much you can charge, the state has the say so. Not releasing cars to people who aren't on the registration... would you really want anyone to be driving your vehicle who didn't have permission??? Again, state law!!! Not Thornton's or any other towing company's doing!! All would be well if whomever would just park in the proper area instead of properly posted "NO PARKING" areas. And when you post negative bad mouthing, don't forget to mention all the foul and threatening language you used while on the phone. Good luck and happy parking.
Do not go here! They specialize in towing cars on Friday nights and holding the car hostage until Monday. They are not at their facility on the weekends and don't take calls - except from the police. They lie when confronted. The only recourse is challenging in small claims courts - and they know it. Stay away from this place! If they resort to such despicable tactics, you have to wonder about the quality of their auto repair work. They don't even warrant one star - but this site does not allow other choices.

Do not go here. They will try and cheat every dime out of you. The worst customer service imaginable. They charged my $332 simply for towing my car. Dishonest, expensive, rude. The worst you can imagine.
This repair shop not only targeted me as a woman, they targeted me as a military black woman. They fraudulently charged me for repairs not rendered and used intimidation tactics to keep my vehicle. I had to call the police to deal with the belligerent owner who was also very belligerent towards the police. Additionally, they kept my car and refused my payment method because they were upset...
These guys are totally dishonest and only in it to make a buck. My car sat there for over two weeks before I finally got a call from them saying "we can find your part"
At this point I should have turned and run but I REALLY needed my car done. So in 3 hours, that's right 3 hours, I found the part MYSELF and I brought it to them.

Newport News, VA 23601 is conducting predatory towing tactics. They towed my daughter's car from a parking lot that was only established as a ""Tow Zone"" 72 hours earlier and on a Sunday. After learning her car was towed, she went to pick up her car within 3 hours of being towed and had to wait 3 days to get it back. Vic Thornton and the boys at Thornton's advised her of Thornton's New Towing Policy - only registered owners can get a vehicle out, even if their official Virginia State Drivers License matches the car's registration. ...
