After 11 years of operation, it seems safe to say that the Third Avenue Café is one of the anchors of the Old Louisville dining scene.
Menu blending creative vegan, vegetarian, and flesh options (all made entirely on site) attracts Old Lou residents, out-of-towners, and—yes!—foodies. Barbecue tofu sandwich, veggie reuben, and black bean burger may even surpass their meaty muses. Patio seats 24 and affords romantic outdoor candlelit dining under a maple tree, but doesn't offer as good a view of the interior's Elvis mementos.
This place is THE place to go for vegetarians in Louisville. Vegetarians that don't treat their eating decision like an elite club that is. The food is great home cooking style with a super fresh healthy kick and for a decent price. The restaurant itself is a good amount of kitsch but I would say it could go much farther and be even better. They have a window framed area inside with a cutain in...
Had dinner here last with my wife here last night. Great food. Our server was very knowlegable about the vegan choices. He really seemed to know our every need. We'll definetly be back.

Their food is common around town but they have vegan...

He made it very clear that he wasn't concerned about my well-being, only the reputation of the business. At first he offered to comp some fries for me for my inconvenience but then said he'd have to charge me a dime for them. He...
Bad service, really rude barstaff. Took 10 minutes to be waited on and then the food was cold. Waitstaff did not seem to care about the customers at all. Would not recommend, will never return

A life-size Elvis mannequin greets diners at the entrance to Third Avenue Cafe, a hip eatery nestled in Old Louisville. "Good Food. Good Karma," goes the slogan here. The eclectic menu offers homemade vegetarian and vegan options with vegetables, tempeh, or tofu. For the omnivorous diner, Third Avenue serves one of the best burgers in town made with beef from the Green River Cattle Company....
