I was very anxious to try the newly reopened Tavern Restaurant and did today. Very disappointing. Was there at the noon hour and there were two other dinners. The salad was limp and definitely right off the food truck. This area abounds in local produce and salad greens are at their peak right now...I would have gladly paid more money...

Everything at this low-key historic restaurant was terrific. We had the broiled oysters, which were fresh and tasty, the crab cakes (superlative!) and the rib-eye which was cooked to perfection. While The Tavern itself is loaded with charm and ambience, restaurants never seem to last more than a couple of years there. For the Occasion restaurant down the road in Callao isn't exciting, but it's always open!

I've eaten here 3 tmes - and have been pleased each time.
