I did three rounds of Metronidazole, each one stepped up to more intensity but had relapses after each. I am going to see a tropical disease specialist and try to get the Tinidazole treatment. Good luck with this - try to get referred to a specialist. It appears to be either tough to kill or easy to reinfect yourself.

Tinidazole is the drug of choice the only one aproved by FDA for giardia. Also acts against the cyst stage. Mentrinazole is crap. Hard bug to get rid of

I was diagnosed with giardia a little over one month ago. I took 14 days of metronidazol and began to feel better. Now that I have stopped I am feeling the same type of symptoms as before; bloating, gas, loose stool, sick feeling, etc.I suppose that I must go back to the doctor.
