One of the oldest wooden buildings in Virginia, delegates to the Convention - including Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Patrick Henry - had convened in this very spot. And it was here where Patrick Henry gave his famous speech and said the following famous lines: "Give me...

For security reasons, the rebellious Second Virginia Convention met in Richmond instead of Williamsburg; it was in this 1741 church on March 23, 1775, that Patrick Henry delivered the speech in which he declared, "Give me liberty or give me death!" His argument persuaded the Second Virginia Convention to arm a Virginia militia. The speech is reenacted Memorial Day to Labor Day on Sunday at 2...

The building is best known as the 1775 meeting place of the second Virginia Convention. In attendance were Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, George Washington, Richard Henry Lee, and many other...

The “tour” involves going inside the church and sitting on a pew as the church representative gives a historical overview. No actual “tour”. At $8/adult and $7/child over seven years old, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Amazing historic 1747 church with really old tombstones littered on the grounds. They have Edgar Allan Poe’s mom, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the first U.S. Marshall buried here.

This is not only a spot of Richmond history, but a major part in birth of our nation. There is a small charge for a guided tour. There is a nice little gift shop.
