Ron's Plumbing & Water...
Asked for a standard quote for a hot water heater replacement. Stated he would match the Depot price and do a better job. Shows up 4 hours later and jacks up the price 50%!! Argumentitive about the job, keeps yellling to just pay him and give "me the credit card number". Goes on an on about how his guys have been at work since 7a.m and it is now 10pm, really none of my concern. Would never recommend Ron's for anything, not trustworthy at all, actually very deceptive.
Do not use Ron's Plumbing, Chesapeake, VA (757) 420-5400. I spoke to Ron on the phone and asked him roughly how much my repair would cost, and also, if the plumber would have everything he needed for the repair in the truck with him. I was advised that my repair would be $125 to $150 and that the repairman would have all the parts needed. When the repair plumber arrived he borrowed an extension cord then made an hour trip to the store for parts. He presented me with a bill for $687, including his parts run! The repair consisted of replacing a small section of plastic pipe right at the city meter, all readily accessible. After several calls to his supervisor the plumber came down $200, which was less than the hour he charged for the parts run. The next day I called Ron who claimed I led him to think it was a simple "loose fitting" (the city guy who came out to check my leak would have tightened such a leak for free and Ron knows it). When I complained about being charged for the parts run after being assured the plumber would have the parts with him, Ron's response was "well, he didn't have the parts". He was argumentative and refused to work with me on this outrageous bill (it was over 4 times the amount I was quoted!) Also, the "parts", a brass connector and a piece of plastic pipe, cost me $150. The retail cost for these was less than $15. I informed Ron that I will be reporting this to the BBB, he replied "thank you". Use these guys at your own risk.
I was contacted by this company through a service to get a quote to replace a thermocoupler on my water heater. He quoted me $150.00 (part $25 labor $125). I then found a coupon on their website...
Complete jacklegs from portsmouth. Qouted me $1000 to replace a hot water heater, 2 guys show up in a beat up mini van and make a mess. Tells me I had $550 in additional fees, really $30 in parts. Starts screaming at me when I tell him I am not paying $1550 for this job. Total jackass on the phone! Avoid this hack wannabe plumbing outfit.
Next to our breaker box, which Ron's guys were using throughout the repairs, I have a lovely painting in an expensive and antique guilded gold frame. They knocked a corner off of the frame and of course we didn't notice until they had quickly gathered their tools and vacated. They also broke a $60 …
After describing my problem (supply line leaking at the meter) I asked for an estimate over the phone. I also asked whether the plumber would have everything he needed for the repair with him. Ron himself(?) told me the cost would be $125 to $150 and that yes, the plumber would have everything he needed to handle this repair. Well, the plumber did not have what he needed and made a parts run which took an hour. When he was done I was handed a bill for almost $700, including the hour-long parts run. The 2 parts, a brass connector and a plastic pipe, were $150 - about 10X the retail cost! ...
