Help us make it rightExplore The Unspoiled Barrier Islands
We were within steps of the island house. Views of the water from the front of our room. The room was very clean and had a small kitchenette which was very handy since we stayed for the weekend. It was extremely close to parks to take the dog for a walk and play tennis. The inn had plenty of activities...
I left a review of the Inn a year or two ago and would like to say again that we love it. Cozy, clean comfy and rustic. The staff is terrific as are the inn keepers. Do check their website. A favorite with fishermen, birders and tourists alike, you get a comfy hotel room footsteps away (literally) from the Island...
We rented apt #22 at the Wachapreague Inn for 4 nights when we travelled to the Eastern shore for the Eastern Shore Birding Festival. The apartment was roomy, and extremely clean. Their were two bedrooms with 2 comfortable double beds in each bedroom. Each bedroom also has its own bathroom and sliding glass door out onto the deck. The full...
Taken over a couple of years ago the Inn is a refurbished motel that is very clean, friendly and close to many of the sites and restaurants on the Eastern shore. We had an efficiency room with a nice little kitchen which came in handy for cooking meals there. Room service is excellent as is the staff there. It's a...
This is my 2nd time staying at the Wachapreague Inn so I knew what to expect. It is not a fancy place but it fits the charm of the small town Wachapreague/Eastern Shore vibe. It is outdated in decor, furniture, tv but it is VERY clean for being outdated and the front office staff is always were helpful. We always...
Not fancy, but the owners and staff of the Inn will make you want to return. Clean, convenient and affordable, it the perfect place to stay while exploring the VA Barrier Islands. Fishing, Beach Combing and Bird Watching in the area is hard to beat.
While the motel is a bit dated it is clean and the price is good. They also have two apartments and a full house with five bedrooms and five bathrooms that would be great for a family
The Island House restaurant is right across the street and even on a Monday night in September is busy. we traveled up the...
Stayed here overnight on the way to the Outer Banks. Awesome owners. Nothing fancy, but well kept. Our group loved Wachapreague and the Inn. Good value. Will revisit this every chance possible. Next time we will take advantage of the Daytrippers boating opportunities. Also, the free bikes were a hit.
We love the Wachapreague Inn and also we have recommended it to family and friends many times. Chris and Nikki are great hosts and the Island House restaurant next to it is excellent. I saw the GoRoadie review and I think they took a wrong turn somewhere. Sounds like they were not prepared for the small town charm of a...
The only thing related to an "inn" is a five-bedroom house for rent by large groups. The adjoining property for singles or couples is a motel, and an old one at that. It's located in a very shabby coastal town with few features (one overpriced restaurant). Our room was clean but nothing fancy, the bed was hard, and the price...
Nikki and Chris are the most gracious inn keepers we have ever stayed with in all of our extensive travels. They go the extra mile and include the helpful hint you wouldn't think to ask to make our trips more enjoyable every year. I love visiting Wachapreague to fish and bird watch and now there is a comfy place stay!...
I have to say, right up front, that if your travel needs require all the glam and glitter of the big chain hotels, The Wachapreague Inn is not for you. This is a humble, older motel. I would guess it was built in the 50's. It is right across the street from a terrific restaurant, Island House and the wharf....
We chanced upon this inn while driving around the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It is very nice the couple that owns the hotel it is very pleasant and the staff was very helpful we have everything that we needed in our room and everything worked beautifully wonderful hot water and heat cause it was chilly this weekend. Thank you! We...
I have stayed here more times than I can count. A few years ago, the current owners took over, and they have been making upgrades since that time. Aside from updating the rooms, the level of service is now impeccable. They couldn't be more friendly or helpful. I used to stay there because there were few other choices and none...
We've stayed at Wachapreague Inn a couple of times. The people who run the place are very friendly and helpful. The vibe of the place is laid-back and cozy. The rooms are nothing fancy - at all. But when I'm on the Eastern Shore, I'm not there to hang out in a hotel room, so it's fine. No pool, no...
We reserved this hotel on the fly; weren't really sure how long it would take us to get there, and specified that on the web site. You reserved your room by the room number. The owner (wife) called and confirmed that we had reserved a room. By the time we arrived (moments later, it didn't take long), she had gone...
Booked a room for just one night because it was as far as I thought I could drive after an overnight flight into Richmond, and couldn't have been happier. Not a luxury hotel, but a throwback to the era of Motor Hotels. With more than one building, I was in the collection of rooms around the office. Staff was helpful...
This was my first time to Wachapreague and it won't be the last time. I made a solo trip and can't wait to go back with my family. The hotel rooms were fresh smelling and clean. Captain Chris was easy going and friendly. Nikki was so sweet and very helpful and I could tell it was important that I had...
My family went to Wachapreague about seven years ago and caught more croaker than the little rental boat could hold! It was a wonderful and memorable weekend.
Around February Daddy started talking about that trip. Again in May he mentioned that he wanted to go back to Wachapreaague and go fishing. I talked to him on Friday before Fathers Day...
First and foremost: the friendliest folks you could ever hope to meet. It's an old motor lodge. I believe they are working hard on bringing it up, but "one of our better rooms" was showing it's age (cracked tile in bathroom, etc). Bed's were uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Carpets were dirty and bed linens worn. Amenities are spartan (e.g.. no...
I haven't been to Wachapreague for almost 20yrs. My girlfriend (now wife) and I were driving around the eastern shore of Va killing a weekend. I will have to say i wasn't impressed with anything other than the sandwich I got at the old general store. The motel was nasty and the restaurant worse. Some friends invited me to fish...
My family and I decided to stay at the 5 bedroom house that was available. I am so happy we did! The house is super comfy! The house is warm and inviting. The large kitchen area was also open to the dining area and living area which made it super easy for our entire family (Grandpop and cousins) to visit...
We stayed here to rent a boat and go out to the barrier island on the ocean for
great flounder fishing. We loved it for the dog friendly rooms. Standard eastern shore hotel. Basic amenities. Sheets were so soft and the bed was very comfortable. It was great to have an efficiency- cooktop, electic fry pan, toaster ,refrig. etc... Locals are...
Right across the street from Capt. Zed's Marina, the Island House Restaurant, and a beautiful seaside barrier island view, this motel was just perfect. The new owners of the Wachapreague Inn and their staff are so nice and clearly take a lot of pride in the property (which also has two efficiency rooms, two apartments and one house available for...
my husband and went to wachapreague for a short getaway and to do some fishing,We decided to book a room @ the inn before leaving ,we knew we would want a place to shower an sleep after coming off the boat.I was a little hesitant before getting there but was pleasently surprised! thiis place is great! . Do not pay...
This is a great little place to stay. I brought my fiancee up from Belle Haven to give her a real taste of the Eastern Shore (my lifelong home) during the Carnival that Wachapreague is famous for--and it was a 4th of July evening she'll never forget. Just as wonderful as ever, with the best funnel cake on the shore,...
Nikki and Chris are warm and welcoming! They have done a lot of great work on the Inn including the big house and smaller houses. There are rooms, B&B and housekeeping units -- something for everyone.
The Wachapreague Carnival is a great hit with the kids and this is just a family friendly place to be -- safe and beautiful....
Met the new owners and was very impressed and it is evident with their goals to make this one of the places to go for vacationers.Chris is very active in the fishing scene and believes this to be a top spot for inshore and offshore anglers.Niki is down home and wants all to be friends rather than customers. They have...
Lovely stay for a long weekend. Rooms clean, owners and staff very pleasant to deal with. Family friendly, including the family pets! I'm not a fisherman or boater but the lot in back accommadates both and those people that stayed at the Inn were very pleased with the amenities. Only downside is no cell phone reception. Owner offered their office...
We were in Wachapreague a few years ago for a fishing trip. We also stayed in the hotel - at the time the only game in town - take it or leave it. Stayed there again this time for another fishing trip. Much, much better - new owners, young and friendly, and seem really committed to the place. Had the...
We stayed there this weekend. I agree with the other reviewer, it is really not a good choice at all. The restaurant was great though, and right on the water. There are no phones in the room and no emergency contact number to leave, our cell phones didn't work, and we left our teenager home alone. Dirty carpet, smelly rooms....
Poor customer service, old warn out beds, foul smelling rooms, it's only saving grace is being across the street from the marinas and restaurant. I've stayed there over a dozen times, and the only reasons I go back are the location and the lack of other choices in such a small town. There are other options, but they are not...
21 curbside rooms, each with 2 double beds, microwave, compact refrig, TV, & free highspeed internet. 2 rooms contain fully equipped kitchenettes, 2 two bedroom apartments with full kitchens, living rooms with large TVs, fresh linens, decks overlooking the waterfront. Two beautiful houses, one 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house, just renovated with large kitchen/living room, one 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom....
