Help us make it rightTown Point Park is the people's park. 8 acres of outdoor space.
Overview
Tucked between Nauticus and the Waterside Festival Marketplace, this 7-acre waterfront park is where city residents gather when the weather's nice. The park provides the perfect...
When it's 65* outside in December you grill out at work for lunch ?
Smores and drinks with the team after the final event of the season last night!! #festevents
They did this recent remake of the park... it sort of works with a few visits there since... if Norfolk can get Waterside back to something, this would be a better place for holiday, music, and social events...
I have shot several photoshoots here for DBSS Photography (@dbssphotography) and participated in numerous venues here by the city of Norfolk and other organizations. It's a beautiful area to relax, sun, and it's in close proximity to Nauticus, Half Moon, Waterside, Spirit of Norfolk, MacAurthur Center, the Oriental Garden & Pagoda, to name but a few places downtown. (I reduced Rating to 4...
Hi. Just wanted to inform everyone that I am now salon level at Empire Beauty School and now I can take clients under to supervision of my educators. I can do all services to get my credits towards graduation, so your support is very appreciated. That includes all chemical services, serving men, women and children for a full salon experience. The prices at the Empire are very very affordable...
I love this downtown park. The fountains are beautiful and entertaining just to sit and watch. The riverfront is fascinating and lively. Nearby shops are available. Frequent events in the summer make it a great destination.
It has one major drawback, however: lack of convenient parking. There is valet parking available. And there are parking garages fairly nearby, but at...
Right on Norfolk Harbor! beautiful for a summer night stroll, and you have the ferry that you can ride over to portsmouth for a high street stroll. Festevents knows how to throw a nice bash in this beautiful park!
This is my Park so I might be a little bias in here but, not to over sell it, it is very good for all the food vendors that come on the special occasions, the wine and beer fest is the best in Virginia, the Concerts at the Park series is really nice we go every year to the Latin...
If you are in Norfolk and would like to take an interesting stroll, head to Town Park where you can see bronze sculptures and statues of maritime history, the Battleship Wisconsin, the Armed Forces Memorial Park which is tucked just next to Nauticus along the banks of the Elizabeth River. You will happen upon lots of runners, walkers with dogs...
Although not a very big park, it is a nice place to spend a few hours. There is a small cafe, comfy outdoor furniture to sit on and toys for the kids to play with. Bring a change of clothes for the kids because they'll want to play in the "jumping waters" and they will get wet.
We came upon the Town Point Park accidentally following a dinner in that area. We started strolling around the area, and followed the music to Town Point Park. We were glad we did! During the summer, they have lots of festivals, and they're mostly free! The bands that play are good. We also attended the Ribtober fest, and that was...
There are many special events that go on at Town Point Park. You can normally find something for all ages and cultures. family time, or couples time as well.
Was stuck in Norfolk for a day while Hurrican Arthur moved off the Outer Banks. We spent the entire day near Town Point Park, visiting the Nauticus center, taking a waterside tour of the naval shipyard (worth every penny, serious firepower!), eating at Joe's Crab Shack (and Jimmy John's up the street from Nauticus), and watching a day-late fireworks display...
Entertainment and events for all ages of the family. Felt safe and enjoyed some of the music provided. The time we were there it was not elbow to elbow, so we could pleasurably mosey around and enjoy the events and sights.
We have been attending the 4th of July fireworks show for the last 5 years and this year (2014) was the worst ever. Very boring and even the grand finale was nothing spectacular. Not sure if they switched companies or not but last year it was much better. Would have rather went to the one down at the oceanfront.
If you are in downtown Norfolk, you must take a walk by the waterfront and enjoy the area! It is peaceful and the view is great! You will see all sorts of boats and enjoy the mermaid statues. There a couple of nice restaurants if you are hungry. Family friendly.
The location is great, the music was fabulous..BUT...$24 for what amounted to a little over 2lbs of boiled crawfish was a ripoff and what I consider price gouging...I am from La and I was deeply disappointed that Shaggy was "shagging us"
Over the years, I have spent many weekends at Town Point Park in Norfolk. I live in Hampton and happily make the trek from the peninsula to southside to go to Town Point Park. Early June, our visit to Town Point Park was for Harborfest. My husband and I got there by noon on Friday in time for the Parade...
I've attended several events in this Park but it's also a great place to go on a warm day and hang out with friends. Great location by the water and not far from shops / restaurants. Also close to local museums and boat rides.
It was just nice, there are no other words to describe it. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the location was great. We were there for the “bayou boogaloo".
When we went, there was an Indie festival going on and it was great! Lots of music, food, mermaid statues. We had a beautiful day/beautiful weather, thankfully. Everything was very clean and there were a lot of police, so we felt very safe.
Each Sept. there is a Moon Festival at Town Point Park. They have other festivals throughout the year, but this is my favorite. They have super awesome kung fu and Tai Chi demos, lion dancer, dragon dancing and other traditional Chinese arts. Good food and lots of fun for the whole famiy. Best part is when Jow Ga Kung Fu...
food and music were good ive been several years and will continue to go. if you like Cajun food and a fun atmosphere I would suggest this event it goes on every year in the summer. lines for food are very long but worth the wait
I enjoyed sitting at a table and watching my kids run through the fountains. There's a nice selection of restaurants and a harbor cruise in walking distance.
We had a great time at Town Point Park June 21-23 for the Bayou Boogaloo New Orleans festival.
Park is so clean and well-maintained, and being right at the boat dock on the river gives you great views and cool breezes. Outdoor stage has excellent terraced lawn so that you have great sight lines to the stage from front to...
I went there many years ago. It is a nice place to walk around or go to events that are there. I went to events there. the music and food was all good.
Love everything about the new changes to the area...Def. something positive in the making for this area. So pleased to know that strides were made to beef the area up. So proud of the work in Virginia Beach. Def. will attract more business to the community.
Beautiful, calming. Very picturesque, quiet, very well kept and safe. Don't forget your camera or you will regret it.
Town Point park has events throughout the year most weekends. Some are quite fun and/or entertaining such as HarborFest in early June; others can be a disappointment. Check with locals or Festevents or the local tourist agency to see what's on
We love the changes that have been made to this park. It's very pretty to look at. We also enjoy taking the kids to the near by water fountains to play.
We walk around and sat on the benches enjoying the atmosphere. Very good if you like to be outdoor. I enjoyed every minute.
I came here with a couple of friends for "Pride at the Park," on August 18, 2012. One of the nice things about the park is that it is conveniently located near several parking buildings (almost no free parking in the area) and MacArthur Mall. The Town Center Park is an open space with docks between the Nauticus and Waterside...
Unless an event is happening, there is nothing here to do but stroll the waterside. It's a nice little walking park with nothing for kids and not much shade.
This is the perfect location for any of the many events they have year round. It rained on us yes, however the turf never got soaked or muddy.
If you go you must try a cupcake from Carolina Cupcakery....DELICIOUS!!! So may varieties...Loved the Party Cake & Cookie Dough flavors....They were on Cupcake Wars on The Food Network.
It was nice but it was free.Even the parking was free.
Kinda like a mosh pit for the sailboat enthusiast. Went at 6PM since the airtemp was finally dropping. They had a nice setup with parking out by the stadium for $5, then running back on a school bus. It was pretty loosely managed & our drivers seemed confused.
We only toured one ship, as we weren't ready to deal with...
What a beautiful setting for the Tall Ships!! All the scenery without the CRAZY crowds!! Parking was simple- waterside garage- and the venders were there-- (tees by one get one free- GREAT DEAL!!) and the sailors were very hospitable when you toured the ships!!
WELL DONE NORFOLK!!!
great place for festivals--lots n lots of entertainment-good planning!! family friendly.
The magnificent Tall Ships have been in the Harbor at Town Point Park for OpSail 2012. This has been an event that goes on in early June and the sailing vessels from far around the world come to Norfolk. One Tall Ship was from Indonesia, another from Mexico. It is an event for friends and family to get out and...
fountains, green grass, lots of space to sit and enjoy... Spirit of Norfolk etc. sorry we missed the band that was setting up.
The waterside town point park area has so much unrealized potential.
I live here in Hampton Roads and Town Point Park is great for hosting festivals and community events. It is located on the Elizabeth River and is beautiful around sunset. What is lacks is a surrounding cast. Waterside next door is a joke! They need restaurants and character on the water to make the park more appealing.
A great place to walk to, constant water traffic, our favorite place to unwind. There is always something going on in the summer.
A lovely park to walk in and relax in right on the waterfront.
CLEAN!! beautiful walking park with plantings and benches, great views of ships nice water ferry paddleboat to Portsmouth
From concerts on the lawn, to special cultural functions, to a 'garden' of bronze letter sent home from deceased military men from the Revolutionary War through WWII, to tour boats leaving from the shore to explore the River and the Navy base, this is a place worth the walk from the parking garage. It is great to sit on a...
title says it all. It's fun when there are SMALL festivals and firework shows, and when a cruise ship is in port, but we don't use it otherwise except for a bicycle turn-a-round
There is a very moving series of sculptures here depicting the letters sent home by sailors over the ages. But the whole park sets you up to see the traffic in the harbor including tugs, Navy vessels, sailing ships, and pleasure craft of all sizes.
Sometimes, I just walk through the park. The all-day 911 tribute was a good community event.
Town Point park offers cheap concerts on the weekends during the summer and also host the cajun festival. Food and beer stands surround the park duri...
OverviewTucked between Nauticus and the Waterside Festival Marketplace, this 7-acre waterfront park is where city residents gather when the weather's nice. The park provides the perfect spot to take in the beautiful view of the Elizabeth River or enjoy a relaxing afternoon soaking up the sunshine. Each year the park is host to more than 65 concerts and festivals, including the Town Point Jazz...
Tucked between the office towers of downtown and the shadow of the Battleship Wisconsin is a great place for evening fun. Something happening every weekend, free live music on Friday night and beer/wine coolers are available. Harborfest may be the biggest party in the area, but for my money try the Cinco de Mayo or Bayou Boogaloo bashes. Great music, great food, great people.
Pros
+ outdoor fun, near everything, parking available
Cons
- rain, can be crowded, parking is expensive
Located in Downtown Norfolk, on the waterfront, Town Point Park host scores of events throughout the year. Events include the Friday-after-work concert series, Harborfest, Town Point Jazz and Blues festival, and the ever popular Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival. The park is situated adjacent to the Waterside Festival Marketplace.
Most events are scheduled so far ahead that travelers can plan a trip around an event.
