Best eatery in Suffolk. We have been going to this place since about the time it opened. In an area that is left mostly to chains, fast-food, and delivery pizza, this is a jewel in Suffolk. If you like homemade food and good service with a reasonable price, this is where you should go.

Sunday morning was absolutely ridiculous. Couldn't sit down because you are holding tables for people who were previously there but they left because your kitchen was 45 minutes behind on cooking. My wife and I had dinner at The Plaid Turnip. My wife ordered the rock fish special. I ordered a New York strip steak. The rock fish was fine. My steak had gristle, and it had not been properly trimmed before preparation. It was also overcooked and tough. My baked potato was barely warm. We'll pass on The Plaid Turnip.

My first inclination was to give two stars. Their breakfast food is good, but it took just over 40 minutes to get. We overheard, but were never told there was only one person in the kitchen. It's a stressful way to start the day.

Suffolk is the kind of place that never bothered with good customer service and 40 years after leaving my hometown, this relatively new and trendy spot proves that 1) you CAN go home, again; and 2) some things never change.
