My wife and I went there for the immaculate B&B, but we found the attached cafe to be a real gem. We had fresh salmon for dinner and a B&B breakfast (from a menu) the next morning. Both were superb. The owner, Sandra, was a lovely person who we observed treating all her café guests like family.
My husband and I had a wonderful two days get away celebrating mothers day and his birthday in this awesome B&B Inn. We had the place all to ourselves and the breakfast the delightful host/owner served us were of excellent quality and delicious, which consisted of fresh fruits, freshly baked goodies:-), and healthy omelet. We appreciate the time, love and care...
Six of us had Sunday Brunch at the Inn.
The food was fresh and delicious!
Plus, we had a fun time!
Part of the fun was that they were short staffed that morning so we pitched in to help and they were cool enough to let us do that!
Ate one evening meal while staying at the Inn. Food was outstanding. Only negative might be that the dining room is a bit noisy when a larger group is talking.
It was a holiday weekend and we had not made a dinner reservation but a local advised us to try here since it was "out of town." It isn't downtown but within walking distance. The woman who greeted us, seated us & tended bar was very nice. The waitress Courtney seemed a bit nervous and inexperienced but she will be...
We stayed two nights at The Inn & Garden and breakfast was included. It was a full breakfast with fresh fruit and home baked sweets and then a full course on top of that. The egg dishes were fabulous, the French Toast was exceptional. We weren't hungry until dinner after this extravagat fare.
After checking, we had our evening meal on site. Everything was fresh and delicious! The pork chops and purple potatoes were very tasty and the pasta dinner was great.
We made reservations for an after wedding dinner, hoping for a quite upscale experience. Having lived in the NY area for years, where mediocre establishments last but a nano-second, lack of good restaurants here was the downside to relocating. I must say that "The Inn & Garden Café" was a delightful exception. The duck and the lobster dishes were superb!
We stayed 2 nights here in a beautiful room with all the little extra touches. Breakfast has a menu which is unlike any other B&B, with everything made from scratch. Served on tables with real linen, fresh flowers and china. It is leisurely, taking almost an hour from start to finish. The restaurant serves dinner with reservations recommended as the...
Varied menu. Chef is very talented and must enjoy making everything from scratch. He likes attention to detail and I imagine is glad/proud to demonstrate his creativity because he is just that, creative. It is a special time coming here for dinner because the chef attends to such little details and makes the patron feel spoiled.
We eat here for events and planned meals. Have never had a bad meal. New Year's Eve celebration was a blast.
As long as Chef Neil Annis is in charge, do yourself a favor and visit The Inn and Garden Cafe when visiting Onancock, VA on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. With only one exception, (The Eastville Inn Restaurant in Eastville) not one other restaurant has gone so far out of their way to please a vegan customer such as myself...
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to this bed and breakfast! The rooms were very comfortable and very clean and the restaurant excellent, particularly the chef was outstanding! We have eaten at other restaurants in the area and the food at this particular B&B was stellar. The staff could not have been more friendly.

First B&B experience and it was wonderful. The charm and attention to detail make this Inn a truly special place. The gourmet breakfast was one of a kind and way too much to eat. The owner and staff were attentive, upbeat and friendly. We will never stay anywhere else again while on the Eastern Shore. On top of the great...
Our group of five enjoyed the excellent food and patient service (some people were late). We sampled house-made apple cider with Fireball liqueur along with portabella mushrooms on pastry both provided courtesy of the chef. The Orange Crush cocktail was a hit, as were the three tapas/appetizers we tried. The apple slaw over pulled pork was the favorite. Four of...
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was great in terms of presentation, inventiveness and, most of all, taste. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!
My wife and I were delightfully surprised and pleased.
The innkeepers and staff exude friendliness, caring, and excellence in all that they do.
Sandra was extra attentive to our needs and requests. Her breakfast specialties express her love divinely.
The new chef is talented whose appetisers have an artistic flare that can rival any NYC gourmet restaurant.
This is a...
Everything we ate there was great !!! Steak is out of this world and crab cakes are to die for . Had 7 of us and you can not go wrong going there . Will diffentley be back
Traveled with my 88-year-old mother who had never stayed in a B&B before. She loved it. The inn is charming and Sandra is a welcoming and hospitable host. Breakfast menu is spectacular and servings are more than generous and delicious.
What a peaceful nights sleep. IF you ever get the chance to spend a night in Onancock, book yourself into this wonderful B&B. Delicious food, Spotless rooms, comfy beds and great staff. Do yourself a favor, stay at the INN AND GARDEN you will be glad you did.
We only stayed here for one night on our trip going south, but would return if in the area. JUST FOR THE BREAKFAST. One of the best breakfast we every had in a B&B, and we have been in many here and in Europe. Sandra actually gives you a menu with about 8 choices. We did not have a chance...
My husband and I spent one night in Onancock at this lovely Inn. We did not have a reservation so were grateful that Sandra, the Inn's owner, could accommodate us. Our room was in the front of the house and was very comfortable and quiet. The dining room is large and sunny with delicious meals. We enjoyed talking to Sandra...
We stopped for one night at this B&B on our way to the Outer Banks. We were greeted by Sandra, who is truly a friendly and gracious host. Our room was ready, and we threw our things in the room and went out for a walk. We walked into the small town of Onancock which is interesting in its stores...
We always make sure we go to the Inn and Garden Cafe for dinner. We had their scallops and eggplant dish. The scallops were done to perfection!
We spent 4 evenings at The Inn & Garden Cafe in Onancock, VA and our stay could not have been any better. We truly felt like we were at home. Our host Sandra was most gracious. We highly recommend The Inn & Garden Cafe!
This is my second visit to this pleasant, cozy cafe. The table setting is crisp and classy with fresh flowers and chilled bottles of water awaiting us. The service is very efficient and pleasant and not rushed. Our table started with apps and the littleneck clams and cold tomato basil soup were standouts. The clams came in a tasty broth...
Our dinner for four last Saturday night was world class. The service was very attentive but not overbearing and the food and drinks excellent. The taste and presentation of the food was also exceptional. The cold tomato and basil soup served with a mini grilled cheese sandwich was original and yummy as were the main courses of scallops and a...
I recently visited and was served a Gecko which is a mixed drink . The bartender Ms. LaShea Conquest was very kind, generous and well mannered. She made my visit vey enjoyable and i will be visiting again.
The Inn and Garden Café offers the best of lovely presentation, great service, beautiful yet friendly surroundings, and delicious food. We sat by a window overlooking the garden. We watched butterflies flitter among the flowers while we enjoyed a mimosas and coffee and enjoyed freshly baked, warm muffins, and fresh fruit compotes with Miss Sandra's special sauce. All were delicious....
My sister and I brought our husbands here to celebrate Father's Day. We started off with Mimosas and Bellinis to drink. We were served delicious homemade rolls and a cup of fresh fruit. It was hard to choose what to order for brunch. Everything sounded so good and special. I ended up with the eggs Benedict served with smoked salmon....
What a beautiful place!!! I had my baby shower at the Inn and Garden Cafe last month and it was absolutely amazing!!! I loved everything from the decor, to the food, down to the smell goods and sea salt scrubs in the bathroom! Our host Sandra was a real pleasure to work with and spend time with during our special...
Great food and atmosphere, stopped in to meet two friends left knowing the entire staff and ms. Sandra.. it was on a Wednesday, pasta night, never thought of putting any of these toppings on a bowl of pasta, but it turned out delicious. Thanks Chef Ted. See you next Wednesday.
The Inn and Garden is not just a warm and comfortable B&B it is also a great restaurant and offers a carriage house that is a wonderful place for events! Convenient to all the small town offerings of Historic Onancock.
Great food, very romantic setting. I had chicken with mac and cheese. Good service and everything tasted wonderful.
Excellent food. The menu changes so the menu never gets old. Cocktails ate superbly made, good wine selection. Best value is Wednesday night pasta bar.
Valentine's Day just happened to fall on the thirty-fourth anniversary of my wife and I meeting. We decided to celebrate by dining at The Inn and Garden, a classy, upscale restaurant where we had eaten many times before an had never been disappointed. We arrived right on time and they were ready for us. The cocktails were generous and perfect,...
Party of four were seated. We were beside them and the only others waiting, but it took 15 minutes for us to be acknowledged/seated. We were on time for our reservation, in case you wonder . Then ONE HOUR to receive my lukewarm and hubby's cold appetizer which was supposed to be hot. At 20 minutes and waiting we asked...
We recently dined at the Garden Café, and had a delicious meal. They offer a very nice selection of entrees to meet any taste, and they handled vegan requirements with no problem. Our dinners were delicious!
I'd give this an Excellent for the region. Gave it a VG because I've been around... Been twice, once with a small group and once with a large group. Super nice people. Great food and wine and menu, and best salads in the region. Nice atmosphere. Had a large group with baby the second time and they were extremely accommodating...
Enjoyed our dinner here - I'd put as the number 2 spot in Onancock that we ate at this trip! Worth a stop!
In recent years, with the economy being what it has been, there has been a huge challenge for fine restaurants to succeed in this area that has slowly transformed into a seasonal tourist destination. The Inn and Garden, with Chef Ted - formerly at the Charlotte Hotel - at its helm with co-owner Sandra, has now set the gold standard...
My wife and I and another couple drove to Onancock from Chincoteague, about a 1 hour ride, to enjoy a 8 course specialty dinner with wine pairings at the Inn and Garden Cafe. We had dined there about 2 months ago, just after we learned that chef Ted had left our favorite restaurant to become an owner of the Inn...
