This was a mess. The rooms were small, no where to hang any clothing and the bed was one of the worst I've ever slept in....and my partner and I are Elite Platinum members with Choice Privileges. We asked for a king size bed in a handicap room when we booked through the 1-800 number. When we arrived and went to...
Front desk personnel need more training. I was asked to sign a document that had the rate left blank and they wanted me to initial the rate which was blank. I refused. They could not get a copy to print with the rate showing. They went ahead and gave me the room and stated she would call me once she...
This hotel is not only awful but doesn't even deserve 1 star. What I thought was going to be a 7 hour trip, turned into 9 1/2 hours. When I arrived at the hotel, I was already late. So we checked in around 4:30 maybe a little later, and didn't bother to go to our room. When we returned around...
I chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and the overall rating, but it sure didn't seem like the rating and reviews were written about the hotel we stayed in at all. I was impressed, too, that the management seemed to take the time to respond to reviewer comments, but basing my review completely on my stay, I would...
This hotel is clean. But, it is also very basic. The rooms are old and small, but they have been renovated. The rooms are dark, with inadequate internal lighting, and small windows for natural light. There isn't even a place to hang your clothes. Seriously, there is no closet in the room. Also, the breakfast is not well attended, and...
My son left his favorite stuffed animal at the hotel following our stay. The very kind gentleman (Jay) is mailing it back to us. We are so grateful for his kindness and understanding! We will be sure to use this hotel every time we visit New Port News (which is frequently to attend swim meets). THANK YOU!!!!
A friend was getting married and we all stayed here 2 weeks ago. The hotel was pretty & clean, the staff were amazing. Internet worked great, and they had flat screen TVs in all the rooms - I wasn't expecting any of this because it is an older hotel. But you can not beat the place when it comes to...
I was at this Inn for four days to study, the Inn was quiet, so clean, the employees were respectful and helpful. There is a hotel nearby which I stayed at in the past, but I would choose this Inn again instead. There isn't a frilly lobby, like the one around the corner, but the coffee was hot the room...
From NC, I called the Quality Inn in Newport News to book a room. My daughter recommended the hotel because they had stayed there numerous times when visiting their son at Christopher Newport University. She said she had never met a nicer staff at any hotel she had stayed at. When I called, I spoke with Regina. She went out...
Week long stay when in the area to visit family. Options are rather limited in the immediate vicinity. Nicer full service hotels are across the water in Norfolk but that is a bit of a hike away. So, that's the backdrop for this review.
The plus. Room was clean and comfortable. Climate control works well, both in heating and cooling...
Motel was clean, our room was well furnished, bed was comfortable, shower worked perfectly, temperature control was very good, halls were quiet, staff members were polite, and hot breakfast was provided. We have previously stayed here, and returned because our stay was enjoyable.
This was an adaquate hotel when you will be with family at their residence most of your visit.
Rooms were well presented and extremely clean. Front desk personnel were very welcoming and had a gift bag for us. The lobby, breakfast room, etc. were well maintained and clean. Would be very happy to stay there again.
Stayed here over the weekend of Oct 18-21 for the Phish concerts at Hampton Coliseum. Price was right the rooms were clean the beds were not great but the place was not disgusting or unfit to stay in at all. My room was fine. As for the person who wrote welcome to jail I was at the hotel all weekend...
Restful stay. Rooms are clean and furnishings we new. Staff very nice. Our 2 Double bed room was small but comfortable. No closet or place to hang clothes, but we understand they are ordering closets. Could tell that the staff was there to make sure we were pleased with our stay. Hot breakfast items were warm at best, but there...
I was delighted to find this hotel less than 10 minutes from the nearby Hampton Coliseum and priced so low. Well you certainly get what you pay for as well as a few things that you didn't agree to pay for: like the $100 deposit they charged on arrival and refused to release until after a walk-through or the $35...
I frequently visit the Hampton, Virginia area and I decided to stay in Newport News. I am glad I did. This Quality Inn was very clean and smelled pleasant throughout. I always clean my room with disinfectant wipes and no dirt/dust was apparent. All advertised amenities were present. The breakfast was well stocked and good. There was even a variety...
A lot of my family stayed at this hotel for our family reunion in Newport News (July 19-21, 2013). Hotel staff was wonderful. Dwayne (night staff) Stephanie (Assistant Manager) Ashley (Housekeeper) in particular were very helpful for any assistance the family needed (and we needed assistance several times).
The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was...
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights (July 22-25)...ovation wasn't hard to find, it was right of the highway...
Breakfast was GREAT!!! They had sausage, eggs, biscuits with gravy, waffles, eggs, bagels, muffins, toasts, Danish breads... Offered different juices, coffee and teas...
The hotel smelled so good... The hallways smelled good as we'll and kept clean...
Will definitely recommend...
We were traveling through to the beach on a Friday night and decided to stop for the night at 11PM. Called several hotels and all were booked but Country Suites suggested Quality Inn. We were skeptical - especially after QI had 'lots of availability' - but decided to try it. Night manager was terrific at check in - efficient yet...
When I first got there, the asst general manager greeted me and was very nice, however when I got to the room, the bathroom was dirty. When the housekeeper came to clean it, she act like she didn't understand. The next day, we would out all day and when we return around midnight, the room had not been clean nor...
We stayed here last weekend for a wedding. We were supposed to stay somewhere else but they gave us smoking rooms and were unable to change that reservation so we had to cancel since we have a child who has had issues with asthma in the past. This was a busy weekend in NN since there was also a Jazz...
After driving over 1000 miles and Days inn screw us over on my hotel reservation we had to find another place on a Friday and holiday weekend and we did not want to go further so we came here and the Girl at the front desk did the best she could to get me the lowest rate she could after...
Well, I would have to say, you get what you pay for. Room was relatively clean. You can tell that it was an older property. It was quiet and I got a good night's sleep. The next time that I am in the area, however, I will probably choose a different property for lodging.
My only complaint about this hotel is no elevator...and that's only because I'm fat and my room was on the third floor. The room was clean. The staff could not have been better. It was a great stay. I will say the bacon in the breakfast area looked scary but was actually good. I will for sure stay here again!
Overall I'd say this is a good choice for a quiet night. The lack of a fridge, microwave, widescreen and elevator make it a little less than ideal. If you are looking for breath taking views, this isn't the one(it's in Newport News!)Although the interstate is close by,I didn't hear it one time on the odd room side and had a quiet, very necessary rest. There are...
We stayed in this hotel for its convenience to Yorktown and Jamestown. It was clean and and pretty quiet. The AC in our room made some rhythmic noise, but not enough to complain about. Our room was small, something made worse by the odd arrangement of the furniture (I suspect this was because of the location of the meager electrical...
I've stayed in this hotel several times now. It's always clean and the staff is extremely friendly. And you don't get that in every Super 8 in this area!
This year our group (4 people, in two rooms) got a very late start on our trip and didn't arrive until almost 5am. We asked if we could have a later...
You get what you pay for. I stayed with some friend's when I visited Newport News for homecoming since we were all short on cash. It's a clean hotel, checks out fine on bedbugregistry.com (haha) but…
I enjoyed staying at the motel - convenient to Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown.
Very clean and quiet rooms, nice breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff.
Check in was easy, the attendant was very nice, gave me a lot of info about the breakfast bar.. I haven't ate the breakfast so I can't give an opinion on that. Upon getting to my room, the AC was on, so it was nice and cool. The shower was amazing. The hotel itself seems to need some work.. new...
Rest and relaxation.
After going to the smelly room, we decided to give it a chance. Bad idea. The moldy smell and I believe bug spray was so bad that I could not sleep the third night in the room. So I wandered in the halls at 2am. till 4am. then went up front by the front door and sat at the pitiful breakfast table [folding table and 3 folding chairs] which was all they had for the entire hotel people. I sat...
It was very enjoyable
The hotel was one of the better 2 star hotels I;ve stayed at in the Newport News area. I would stay there again, good for a 1 night stay
AD said free continental breakfast, but I guess they meant 1st come 1st serve. Never anything left when we went down. Room was clean and quiet.
ok, location good for travelors or for local tourist spots. Close to Yorktown,Va. which is a delightful layed back place to visit.
It appears this is a live-in hotel. Found it through a discount coupon booklet at a rest stop. Was quiet. Room was old but clean.
In ShortThe first Super 8 opened in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1974, charging $8.88 a night. Today, the national franchise, with its familiar red-and-yellow sign, still stands for dependable...
This hotel is great for someone who is just staying for one nite and is on a budget. It could use a better clean up in the rooms and repairs to doors.
All I needed was a place to stay. This was perfect.
We were looking for a motel to stay in while visiting family. We usually stay at another motel but were looking for a place that wasn't so expensive. The Super 8 was a good price for the value we received. It was clean, friendly, had a tasty continental breakfast and the ice maker even worked!. Less than 1/2 from the interstate system. We will stay again.
Its the same as the Econos.
Good for those travelling on a budget - in this area, summer travel can be very prohibitively expensive; not so if you stay at this Super 8.
Positives - inexpensive, fairly clean and centrally located to many things in the areas - 30-40 min to VA Beach, 20 min to Williamsburg/Busch Gardens. Lots of dining and shopping nearby. Staff was...
