I was unfortunate with my rental as I damaged a mirror on a BMW. Of course I had to pay for it and I did. He told me it would be around $500.00. Making use of his legal right to charge for "loss of use", a $102.12 mirror was billed at US$ 1,840.04. He makes no difference between what's right and what's legal and damage to the bikes is obviously the best of his hopes. Be careful with what you sign.
