Help us make it rightAuthentic Italian fine dining (chef-owner born & raised in Rome), extensive wine list with free parking. We take an authentic approach to Italian cuisine in an elegant yet casual and relaxed ambiance with friendly service. We stress on "authentic" and would like to say that this is not your typical American-Italian red & white checkered tablecovers pizzeria. No heavy garlic or melted cheese,...
"Welcome to Sirena (see-ray-nah) Italian for mermaid. We loved Norfolk's symbol from day one, so the name for our little piece of Italy right here in Virginia was an easy choice".Authentic Italian fine dining in a beautiful relaxed ambiance. We have extensive wine list and a fully stocked bar.
The best Italian cuisine in Norfolk, in my opinion. Steller food, prompt and attentive service, great atmosphere... you cant beat it!
Had dinner there with my wife last year and enjoyed it. Took my family there for a birthday after speaking with the owner when making reservations. We were very disappointed with the service. Lo and behold an automatic gratuity was added for a larger party. No wonder the staff ignored us. Bring your own birthday candles too!
The food is absolutely five star! Lunch prices can't be beat. The quality and authenticity of the food is not matched by any restuarants in the area. Brilliant! The star deduction is for service. Though friendly, the service is a bit slow on refills and other requests. I still highly recommend to everyone and will continue to be a loyal customer.
Food was pretty good; decor was average. Our group of 8 people spent over $300. One of our party very politely and quietly requested that the check be split, as it was very difficult for us to determine what each person's order was. We understood when we were told they couldn't give us an individual breakdown so we asked if it could at least be broken down into smaller groups. The owner became very loud, rude, condescending to the woman who politely made the request, and absolutely refused to make an attempt to accommodate our table of 8 patrons, saying it was too much trouble and he didn't have the time. This restaurant has a lot of competition among the other good downtown restaurants. Some of these restaurants provide good food and good customer service and they have always been willing to accommodate by providing separate checks. In the future, I will take my business to restaurants that are willing to provide good customer service.
I live in Va. Beach and dine frequently (meaning 4+ nights a week) Here is my 2 cents from a "want-to-be" Italian on a few nice Italian restaurants in the VB area. First, if you happen to be at the Oceanfront and want excellent food and a beautiful ocean view then you go to Isle Of Capri $$$, if you...
The food and service is fabulous! try the brussel sprouts! you will be amazed! healthy and delicious! So impressed owner comes to each table to check on your meal!
This restaurant recently moved from Norfolk to Virginia Beach and we were introduced to it by friends. This was absolutely one of the finest dining experiences we have had in the recent past. The restaurant is small so you will need reservations which you can make by email and they are prompt in replying. First, we were greeted warmly as...
Last week we dined here with another couple, and all of us were extremely pleased with the food quality. My husband liked the fair pricing of Sirena's wine list as well as the selection. We have our own wine collection so aren't looking for fabulous, expensive wines when we dine out. Our genuinely Italian waiter made us feel welcome. Food...
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Virginia Beach. The food is awesome!
Difficult in making reservation because they are so busy and that speaks for itself!!
Sirena's recently moved from Norfolk to Virginia Beach. They are in a small space (maybe holds 60?) off of Great Neck Road. I emailed a reservation a week ahead of time and received a timely response. If you don't have a reservation, there are seats at the bar. The food and service were all very good. Two people in my...
The restaurant is good but so annoying that there is no personal communication to make a reservation. All calls go straight to an automated message - I don't think that the authentic Italians would communicate that way! At least they could go onto Open Table reservations where changes can be made and instant confirmation is received.
Atrocious communications. They simply won't answer the phone. Voice mail only, calls not returned. Web site says to email for reservation. I did, got back to me later that day. All was set but we had a glitch in travel on the day of. No email access, called several times to try to change our reservation time. Left a voice...
What an amazing meal, service-everything was great! The only problem is that the menu choices are so unique-it's hard to pick one! Add the specials to that choice, and it just gets harder. Can't wait to go back! The food is great!
Once you taste the food it's not surprising that the place is full at 6:30 on a Monday. I had a very traditional dish of Broccoli Rabe and sausage that was prepared perfectly. Plenty of other great menu items like Osso Boco, and many veals.
Wine samplers of three matched half glasses were good and reasonably priced.
We were a foursome and seated promptly when we arrived. The service was excellent. The food was wonderful, but..... it was very noisy so hard to hear each other and the wait for food was way too long.... I would have rated it three stars for that but because the food was so excellent gave it a higher rating. Our...
Simply awesome Italian food. Great value. Excellent wine list. Fabio (the owner) is friends with our dinner guests who had frequented the old location in Norfolk. So glad they are now in VA Beach as we visit here 6-8 times a year. I'm part Sicilian and from Chicago and this is some of the best italian food I've had on...
I could give you a long drawn out food critic review but that is not necessary. After traveling in Italy several times I can truly say that Fabio has brought true Italian cuisine to Virginia Beach. He has kept the flavors fresh and simple. I love Puttanesca and it isn't on the dinner menu. I asked Fabio about it and...
I rarely order the same meal sequentially, but I may have to have the Veal Romano again as it was simply a perfect balance of beautifully prepared caramelized vegetables and veal topped with proscuito with pasta side.. Excellent service, very accomodating. Internet reservations a little challenging if you are "last minute people" as we are.
If you are in the mood for fantastic Italian cuisine, look no further than Sirena.
This wonderful little gem opened two months ago in Virginia Beach after having been in Norfolk for more than 10 years. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a cheerful fellow who seated us. One of my dinner mates asked if he was the...
The restaurant has become extremely popular since moving here from Norfolk. You definitely need a reservation. The food is excellent - most pasta fresh made, great veal, good rollatini, carpaccio. Wine list is quite extensive. Restaurant was totally full on a Monday night when we visited. Server was very knowledgeable and reasonably prompt given the load on the kitchen. Many...
Had eaten at Sirena's when it was in Norfolk and looked forward to it being at the Beach close to home. They have certainly transformed the interior which was lovely. The meal, however, was disappointing as was the service. I was there with a friend at around 1:30 PM so there were few customers; however, service was very slow. My...
This restaurant recently moved from Norfolk to Virginia Beach. The owner, Fabio, is a hands-on gentleman, extremely courteous and very involved with the day-to-day operation of his establishment. Calamari, brushcetta, carpaccio and mussels appetizers are spot on, it's often hard to choose!
My husband gets the Osso Bucco every time, the risotto is magnificent! I try their fresh fish dishes,...
The host seemed overwhelmed with 3 different parties arriving at the same time despite lots of empty tables. Waitress was nice enough, but not up to the task of keeping a few tables going at once. The baked eggplant appetizer was tasty, but getting cold on its arrival. The main course arrived without silverware, and it took too much effort...
My husband got us reservations at Sirena last weekend, and I was so excited. We had not been there in quite some time, and the last time we had gone it was AMAZING (I wrote a review about it on their previous Trip Advisor page.) We were a little concerned when we arrived, because the shopping complex it moved to...
The best thing to hit Great Neck road in years is Sirena's. Norfolk's loss in Virginia Beach's gain. Formerly, on Granby Street in Norfolk, the mismanagement and boondoggle's of the city forced the owner to relocate to the Beach. Hopefully, the boondoggle here won't force a move to Chesapeake.
Located in what was formerly Beckett's in Great Neck Plaza, the...
Five friends and I dropped in for a late dinner (no reservation) and were quickly seated and attended to right off! The restaurant was busy; however our waiter, Jake, took plenty of time taking our drink order and answering our numerous questions! Never did we feel rushed! Drinks were delivered promptly and Jake explained the featured main courses for the...
The name already speaks a lot about itself. When you are in the mood for a real italian restaurant, you certainly won't go wrong by heading out to Sirena serious eatalian.I had the ravioli granchio & gamberi and my husband pasta sardi and salsiccia.Fabio, the owner, who was born and raised in Rome, offer a tradinional fare done perfectly. We also tried a nice Fabtini at...
Lighting and ambiance was terrible (who puts fine dining in a strip mall next to fast food?) Could hear the manager yelling at employees in the back from my table. HOW ROMANTIC! Guess next time I'll go to Aldo's. Service was great but I feel sorry for these employees that have to work for such an aggressive manager. Food is...
Fabio Rinaldi, one of Norfolk's premier Granby Street restaurateurs for 12+ years, has finally given up the ghost on downtown Norfolk and relocated his wonderful Sirena Cucina Italian restaurant to N Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach. It's only called Sirena now, and resides in the much smaller space previously occupied by the iconic Beckett's Cafe, in what's referred to...
Having lived in Rome and traveled extensively in Italy we know our Italian food and this is the real deal!! Better than ever with Fabio in the kitchen! As always the special pasta of the day was incredible! Will return often!
norfolk location closed. they are moving to vb.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Norfolk. Specializes in Northern Italian food. Homemade pasta and sauces are good, but the veal dishes like veal saltimbocca are exceptional. The wine list is complete with choices at all price points. the wait staff is knowledgeable and can discuss both the menu and the wine. There is limited parking in back....
All of our food was terrific. Authentic Italian with an extensive wine list. We'll definitely be back!
We shared a calamari appetizer and a caesar salad, and both were excellent. My husband had the pasta with smoked salmon and mushroom (I can't remember what it was called, but it was very tasty) and I had the fettucine with the angus beef, which was really good as well. Oscar was a fine waiter.
Walked over from hotel and had a great meal. I had the 4-course meal for $30 which I thought was a good value for the quality of the meal. The veal cutlet and gnocchi were my favorites. Will definitely come back.
This is a true Italian rest. Chef, Flavio, is Roman. Fine quality and delicious sauces. Homemade pastas. Nice ambience. Reasonable prices. Only disappointment: in my last visit, gnocchis were not rolled, as they were in previous visits.
Get the Calamari in red sauce as a appetizer, and cannot go wrong with anything on the main menu. Fabio is great to ask about wine.
One of our favorite places in Norfolk. Great way to spend our anniversary. Thank you Fabio -- best Italian in Hampton Roads.
This was our first visit to Sirena's and I only wish that I had known about this fine restaurant sooner. Having grown up eating home-prepared southern Italian cooking and having lived In northern Italy several years I am somewhat of an Italian restaurant snob. I know the real thing and this is it.
I had saltimbocca alla romana (veal medallions...
I have eaten. Here three times
I had Osso Bucco which was the best I have ever had
The appetizer was house made pumpkin ravioli which was excellent
I am looking forward to eating here soon
We went there last night before West Side Story. When we arrived we were told there was a 'limited' menu because of show night. They took all meat, veal, chicken off the menu. So our choices left were limited and mostly pasta dishes. We ordered. Both meals were mediocre at best. My clams with pasta was really terrible. Clams dried...
My wife and I have dined here many times in the last several years. The food and service are always excellent. We went there last evening, a Saturday night, before seeing a show at Chrysler Hall. Fabio, the owner, has prepared a new menu that greatly restricts the variety of items, both appetizers and entrees, that are available "pre show"....
Our newest favorite place! Awesome flavored sauce in the dishes makes this a wonderful dining experience.
Real Italian food with class. Other than home made by a true Italian this was the best I've had. Wonderful variety.
...due to the lack of "diversity" amongst their patrons.
No ooking, eeking or bix-nooding are to be heard, ensuring you have an unspoiled meal. - The quiet, friendly atmosphere ensures you won't mistake Sirena Cucina for a Red Lobster or a Chuck E. Cheese's.
Needless to say, eggplant is not on the menu.
Never disappointed. Beef carpaccio excellent and seafood always fresh. You see restaurants like this only in Europe and NYC.
If you are in Norfolk and want Italian, you will not find a more sophisticated, genuine experience. Sirena Cucina has an extensive quality wine menu, and excellent food. The setting is romantic and intimate. Don't show up without a reservation(or in jeans) ,and don't be surprised if you hear the staff speaking to each other in Italian while you dine....
We were visiting Norfolk and had a taste for Italian and found this restaurant. What a gem! Fantastic food and several great vegetarian and vegan choices! Not just your normal veggie meals. Would definitely eat there again.
As my husband and I are foodies, this place was recommended by a friend for our anniversary. When we entered the building we did stand at the reception desk a few minutes before someone acknowledged we were there. Then we were seated it took a little longer for our waiter to approach the table. There was only 1 more table...
Just a great place, very authentic delicious Italian cuisine that stands out from the rest (not your typical red sauce joint), everything is fresh made there (their seafood medley is to die for!), great wine list, nice yet relaxed settings, parking in the back and very reasonable, can't go wrong! Can't wait to go back!
I am originally from NY and of Italian heritage and have made several trips to Itlay and have usually been disappointed in most of the Italian cuisine in Hampton Roads for the past 27 years I have lived here. I feel lucky to have found Sirena Cucina. This is an dining experience to be savored. I was with a group...
Fantastic - authentic. This is coming from very particular amateur food critic from Philly. If it were located in Philly, it might get only a 4, and that would still be very high praise. Lovely setting. Professional staff very familiar with the details of every entree, just slightly lacking in welcoming smiles.
We have eaten here several times, and always enjoyed attentive service and tasty food. However, our last visit was disappointing, and it seemed as if the restaurant had changed management (from great to mediocre). Too bad, as I'm not sure we'll risk another try.
We had another fantastic dinner, great salad and the special I ordered was home made pasta, mushrooms, peas and prosciutto in a light sauce. Wonderful, as I am a meat/fish person. The other special was rock fish, again, just super. We try to eat here once a month, and each visit is as good as the firdt one. Thank you...
This is the THIRD time I have tried to submit a review for Sirena Cucina Italiana. Fortunately, my review CONTINUALLY at the top of the list! I hope I get to keep resubmitting my experience... Plus, I enjoy adding details and words in all caps.
My wife scheduled a reservation for my birthday at Sirena Cucina Italiana at 455 Granby...
Sirena Cucina (which in Italian means Mermaid Kitchen) is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at anywhere, much less in Norfolk. I've eaten here on four separate occasions, the most recent of which was for Valentine's Day. I can't think of a better place for a romantic dinner for two. The food and service are simply superb. You...
No matter what you order at Sirena, it will be good. They do seafood especially well, with a tasty sear on fish and never overcooking shellfish. This is a nice place for grown-ups to enjoy a great meal. Is it the fastest, cheapest place in town? No, it's for people who like to dine in peace and savor their meal....
The owner has an attitude. The food is horrible. Not a good place to eat. Not kids friendly. Please do not waste your time here. My kids threw up after eating here. Horrible sanitary conditions. Worst place to eat.
Horrible!! Discriminatory!! We chose this restaurant for its decor and location. We were pleasantly surprised to find good parking in the back. But the owner let us down. He refused service to us because of our color. He was arrogant and said he could run his restaurant any way he wants with no regard to the law. We pointed out to him he had an open sign and the posted closing time was 2 -3...
Simply The Best!
Do you ever get the feeling that you're going to be disappointed in a meal from the second you walk into the place? That's the feeling we got from Sirena. We went on a Thursday night hoping to break…

First class Italian. Best in the area, this side of NY. Great host owner, and professional wait staff. Not fast food. Try any of the pasta and the antipasta.
This restaurant is as close to Italy as you will get.....the decor is sleek modern(lol a 6yrs polish) The food, wine list is truly fantastic(ny favorite farfalle tricolor, bowtie pasta with broccoli,…
I went here for dinner a few nights ago since it is close to our place and restaurant week in Norfolk. I made a reservation which wasn't necessary since the restaurant didn't have too many people in…
Overall average...I went there with my family and some family friends after one of my younger brother's play. We showed up and they prepared a table for us immediately (we were the only one in there…
The owner greeted us at the door with a "You really should make reservations on a Saturday, night and not just walk in." It was all down hill from there. The place was stifling hot (all of us sweated through the meal) which when politely told to the OWNER he told us "NO, it wasn't."! It took over one hour to get ANY food, we had to ask for our water several times. The food came after we...
..I cannot say enough about this fabulous restaurant! We love it! The menu is well 'rounded', something for everyone, I had the pesce del giorno, which was rockfish,,,loved it! The service prompt, and professional. It is obvious this is run by a restaurant professional, granby/norfolk has finally got a fantastic italian restaurant!........
This resturant was a true disappointment. From the moment we walked in to NO Hostess as we stood there waiting. A sweaty haphazzard waiter seated us and it went down from there. Our dinner was 100.00 and we tipped the waiter 3.00 without shame. The veal was the bottom of a shoe, the wine was warm and old. The lasagne was utterly uneatible. The special of the evening was good but not worth the...

Sirena Cucina Italiana (Sirena means Mermaid in Italian) offers up classic Italian cooking in a relaxed atmosphere. Located conveniently in Downtown Norfolk, Sirena is like a little slice of Italy. The menu includes such items as Polpo alla Griglia (Grilled Octopus with warm Cannellini Beans), Rigatoni alla Siciliana (Mild Italian Sausages and Eggplant in Tomato Sauce), and Medaglioni ai...
Sirena Cucina Italiana pays homage, Italian-style, to the citys mermaid logo. Theres an aquatic feel to the dcor: Pale pistachio walls, curving drop light fixtures and glass partitions etched with undulating lines create a sense of being underwater. The Italian menu is heavy on pasta. Prices are $10 to $18 for entrees but salads are not included with meals, and they run $5.25 to $8.25....
Authentic Italian cuisin in a beautiful contemporary ambience.
