Restaurant Review: Si Tapas Restaurant and Bar

Si Tapas has a lot going for it. For one thing, Ildefonso Jimenez’s place is located in a darling old house in the bustling State-Thomas neighborhood, so it’s long on charm and pretty patrons. And then there’s the menu, filled with familiar Spanish hot and cold tapas, such as shrimp in garlic, cod croquettes, tortilla, paella, and assorted Spanish cheeses and olives. So, then, it’s too bad that...

Nestled among the tightly packed townhouses in State & Allen is a small wood-frame house that harkens back to the pre- 90's Uptown. It's a cozy space but with a surprising number of tables. The tapas menu is extensive, and the wine choices are very...

Not sure what happened - but food definitely not as good as it was in the past.
Fried calamari overcooked, stiff and chewy. Brussel sprouts overly salty. Fried okra soggy, and undercooked scallops. Mixed drinks however were still great. Sangria and even house wine very...

Si Tapas is, hands down, the best tapas and Spanish food restaurant in Dallas. It is very popular and they don’t take reservations for small parties so be prepared to wait. A pitcher of sangria will take care of that. Service is quick and friendly. This is one of the very few places in Dallas, if not the only one, where one can eat morcilla (black pudding). The cheese and cold cut selections...

The plating and portions were underwhelming, and some of the flavors weren't what we were hoping for either, and not in a good way. I don't think I'd return. Service was really nice though.

I highly recommend this place! The restaurant is set in a nice little neighborhood, in what I believe is a renovated house. We arrived at 6:45 and was sad to find that last call for happy hour...

We love going during happy hour. $3 tapas and $12 pitchers of sangria. Can't beat that! After dinner we go to the patio in the back that is connected to a field and let kids run around

Beautiful Location & Great Decor. Si Tapas is an old house with tons of character. The decor is a combination of heavy old woods, open spaces, wine racks and Spanish paraphernalia. The main floor is split into two tiers. The backside of the house steps down to a multi window room that looks out on the patio and extensive green backyard. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria. All the dishes i tried was soso except the dessert. Oxtail stew was tasteless. Green bean with bacon, mushroom, shrimp were all just average. Portion was super small and their sangria tasted like walmart brand. The bread pudding was great. I prefer the food at cafe madrid but the Si Tapas's decor is better

Tough choice whether to rate this place 3 or 4 stars. All experiences except my most recentone have been positive so I'll say yes to four. Really it was only service that needed work, not the food. Si Tapas isn't a place to get full if it's just two people. Prices aren't cheap, nor should they be for the menu items …

I love this place!. Favorites are couliflower gratin w/ manchego, scallops, and beets with goat cheese and pine nuts. Almost everything is good. Just stay away from tuna empanadas - they are flavorless. The atmosphere is fun and laid back, especially on the patio.

Above average atmosphere with aspiring food. Food:

Excellent food, great service!. My first experience with tapas, and I chose the right place to lose my 'virginity' to. Not a single dish was anything less than superb. I especially recommend the octopus and the seared tuna. Service was great, ambience was laid back and warm... I'll be returning asap.

The owner is so nice, the place is small and intimate, great food, and great sangria. You just cant go wrong!

The humble exterior leads to a pleasant surprise when you open the door. Quaint, and very Spanish decor. The back of the restaurant is like a covered patio. Very romantic. The owner seemed disconnected from his clientele... or maybe just a plain old 'Machista Madrileño'. The Pulpo Gallego was awesome, as was the cheese and meat platter... yum... membrillo. The fried smelt was bland and...

Voted for ya!! Will you return the favor and vote for us? Gillespie Jewelers for Best Jeweler! Thank you and good luck with the contest!!

Nice place and very tasty. Happy hour menu with a number of excellent items for only $2.00 Monday-Thursday (till 7:00).The address is actually 2207 Allen Street, not 2297.

Business description (6)

This cheerful and friendly joint in an old Uptown cottage has an authentic Spanish vibe. As the name suggests, the focus is on tapas — a fine way to sample a broad range of dishes — and here they’re mostly carefully and even imaginatively prepared. Try the classics like shrimp in garlic sauce, octopus and potatoes, and salt-cod croquettes. Grilled meats are good, too, and the veal sweetbreads,...

Try something from the wide selection of seafood specials and complement it with Sangria, Echegaray or the vast list of wines that they have. Authentic Spanish tapas in uptown!

Si Tapas & Spanish Cuisine is located at 2207 Allen St, Dallas, TX. This location is in the Uptown neighborhood. This business specializes in Restaurants.

Ildefonso Jimenez’s place is long on charm and pretty patrons. The menu is filled with familiar Spanish hot and cold tapas, such as shrimp in garlic, cod croquettes, tortilla, paella, and assorted Spanish cheeses and olives. The house red, Torre Oria Tempranillo, is a bargain at $5 a glass.

Si Tapas is a refreshing break from "the scene." Instead of frat boys yelling and girls wobbling around in too-short dresses and too-tall heels, you'll find some peace and quiet, an extensive wine and tequila list (which includes pink tequila), and a delicious menu, a twinkle-lit patio, perfect for warm summer nights.
