Excellent food. Spinach and artichoke dip a great appetizer (fried pita chips). Chicken was delicious and so were the KY Mares.
Our server was friendly! He was not knowledgeable about the items on the menu. We had 5 at our table, two orders were wrong. The service was off the mark. The atmosphere is very good and we had plenty of time to talk and visit.
We went to shockhoe whisky and wine looking for an upscale place for dinner. My wife had the salmon and shrimp and I had the Cajun pasta. We also had the spinach artichoke appetizer and cheesecake. The food was decent but not amazing - especially for the price. The app was actually really great but entrees were middle of the road and cheesecake was really disappointing. The drinks were tasty...

Today's brunch at Shockoe Whiskey & Wine! The Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast is the best thing ever AND gives back to VCU Massey Cancer Center - as does that mimosa!
The quality of the food itself and ingredients were really bad. The preparation was also lackluster. My chicken was extremely dry and cooked from a frozen state. I will definitely not be going here again,

Great atmosphere & Carlton Blount & Carl both provided some great jazz melodies for the evening. Our server, Evelyn, was great as well. The Whiskey Wings were fantastic!
The place has great potential to be a great place to go for special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays and etc. It lacks consistency. For the money you spend there you should at least enjoy your dining experience and I did not. Food and drinks were not good and service was slow and the place was almost empty.

They took forever to bring our food! I was waiting for almost two hours to get my food! When the food was brought to our table it took them three times to get it correct. On the menu it said we were going to get mashed potatoes but, it ended up being breakfast potatoes. It was the worse Valentine day experience I ever had!

The food did not come out hot considering the amount of time we waited for the food, we were the only people dining at the time. Small portion of food considering how much I paid. The food was good but I wouldn't go back often...its not worth it.
The restaurant was was a good selection for Valentine's Day but there was only one waitress serving all tables. Food was really good but the prices were a little high. I would definitely go back.
Wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting an upscale dining experience only to enter the restaurant to see a DJ and a turn table. Not my idea of an upscale dining experience. We didn't even stay to try the food because the restaurant was obviously about to turn into a club. Just not our style but for 20 somethings it's probably a good choice. Worth checking out if that's your scene.
The ambiance was amazing, customer service great and food delicious. I can't to visit again.

The vegetable dishes were very flavorful, we had sauteed spinach, sauteed cabbage and carrots. Our waitress was very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. The meal over all was enjoyable. The ding area
Anytime I travel from Maryland to North Carolina, I stop at this place and order the whiskey wings. They're probably the best wings I have tasted! The cigar lounge is welcoming and offers good quality sticks. I always seem to stay longer than planned. It's one of my favorite spots on the east coast!
The Shockoe Whiskey & Wine is a Must Stop when passing thru Richmond...
The entree was amazing. The ambiance was very downtown with exposed brick and beams. It was very cold when we first arrived , which took away from the ambiance. The macaroni and cheese wasn't anything special, but the sauce on the shrimp/crab meat was great!
Treated my best friend out for her birthday. It was middle of the week so thought it would be nice. Place is beautiful and ambiance is spot on. Very Shockoe indeed- mixture of industrial and modern contemporary infused with minimalist decor.

If i could give 3.5 i would because it wasn't bad. There were just a few things that were a little salty and it wasn't a wow so i decided to give it 3 stars. The food item that really gave my review a boost were the whiskey wings...omg...sooo good.

Food is good but overpriced. Drinks are watered down and overpriced. Ambiance great! Music great if you like oldies! Service was slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. The place was packed and there were only two servers on duty. I basically came in and sat myself because there was no host/hostess. Turns out my bartender was serving as well...
This is my repeat time here. Food was good would have been great if there was some Mac and cheese. A bit noisy today. Service was off today but will return.

My friends and I had never been so we decided to check it out. Making online reservations was easy and it took no time at all to be seated. Servers were excellent and they also told us about the history of the building which we all LOVED. Over all we thought the place was great and cannot wait to dine there again!

I'm thinking the reason they give you all of that water is because it's going to take them a long time to bring what ever it is that you've ordered. After an hour and twenty seven minutes, we still had not received our food or drinks. The manager was informed and NEVER rendered an apology. Needless to say we left without eating, and walked a few blocks over to Havana 59. Service was great there.

Everything from the background music to the appetizers to the entrees...excellent. My wife could not stop raving about her lobster claw appetizer. This is a fabulous place to have a romantic dinner, or a nice brunch.

Restaurant was smoky..spinach dip was cream cheese based, not my preference..wasn't bad just not great. My friends shrimp tasted like fish. Food was a bit over priced..it was pricey soul food pretty much. ..nice location..waiter was pretty good.

Really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, after an hour and 20 mins, all we had at our table was 2 glasses of water, 2 glasses of wine, being told about our appetizer, "they're fixing it now". Took over 20 mins, before our server even came to our table, this after repeated trips past us by her and several members of the waitstaff and management. Sorry for the negative review.
Our server was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I hope to meet the chef on our next visit because I beleive every chef should hear how delicious their food taste. I have told everyone about this restaurant. We will be going for EVERY special occasion!
Mother always told me if I couldn't say something nice about whatever...DON'T. But I will, for the sake of others: These people have no idea how to run a restaurant. Incompetent servers, management & bar. Never again.
We just visited this place last week, it was a nice new spot with the potential to become a Downtown Richmond gem! The food was great, service was wonderful, and it has a nice atmosphere and appeal to it. It was awesome to support the owner as VCU almumus we will be sure to spread the word for everyone to check them out.

It is great to have the old "Julep" space occupied by another restaurant. Shockoe Wine and Whiskey is an odd name for a restaurant but that aside, this is a decent restaurant. It does feel a bit like an un-aged wine. It has an awkward vibe to it that may improve with time. The hostess and wait staff were competent but not particularly "in to it". The food is certainly good. I will likely try it...

I love it. Food and drinks are awesome. I ordered Cajun pasta with grilled chicken. Got it in a reasonable time. Grilled chicken is tender and seasoned to perfection. Drink is lovely whiskey mojito !
