Bakery 2nd to none! But FOOD too

Average Rating

Had dinner there with family and just walking in, totally surrounded with awesome display of pastries, cookies; I'm sure mostly Italian but many that could be from anywhere and all beautiful. Dinner was our purpose and did not disappoint. Their signature "meat ball w/spaghetti" was excellent. Deserved the publicity it got from 'diners, drive-ins and dives'. Not really a family...

It's in a strip mall & doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's larger inside than it appears. And they have several pastry cases so you have many options to choose from. I had the spaghetti & 1 LARGE stuffed meatball, & the meatball was yummy. The salads and soups also looked good. We shared the signature dessert...

Disappointing

Service was terrible. Our waitress had to be asked twice to bring us some bread. The meatballs were dry and tasteless. My friend ordered grilled chicken (an added $5 charge) and got a couple of small chunks. The waitress didn't bother to ask if my friend wanted more wine and took her wine glass before it was empty. We were...

If you like American Italian restaurant, this is your prefect pace but if you like a really Italian flavor restaurant, so this is the wrong place to eat. I have been in Italy plenty times plus I grew up flavoring Italian cuisine and this restaurant provides no Italian flavor at all. I have my favorite Italian restaurant in VA Beach...

Food was a definite disappointment

Went for lunch and got the Eggplant Parm and it came out cold! The eggplant was nice and crispy but the mozzarella cheese was cold! A dab of sauce on the top. The spaghetti was lukewarm. I get the sense that they pre -prepare everything and it is refrigerated. That is fine but at least leave it in the oven...

We stopped by for a late dinner and we were very disappointed.
Our waitress was very robotic and was simply going through the motions of her job. There was nothing friendly about her.
I ordered an eggplant Panini and my wife ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. The Panini was quite large however all I could taste was fried grease. I...

We went twice in one week! The food was absolutely incredible. I had the Eggplant Parmesan...and it was the best I have ever had...and I've eaten at a lot of 5 star restaurants. The eggplant was very soft inside yet crispy fried with a nice layer of mozzarella cheese smothered in sauce and sprinkled with lots of parmesan. I loved...

Just stopped by for lunch on Sunday afternoon after reading that Guy from DDD was here. What a disappointment and I'm being kind!
As far as the 'Bakery' part of the name goes, most of what you see in the case is a food service product and not made onsite as you would think. With this much product in the...

Everything looks great, but taste isn't there

Great location in the Red Mill shopping center. Very friendly staff. Desserts, desserts, and more desserts. We tried several different kinds. All desserts are beautiful, but they don't have much flavor. Tried a few paninis….same outcome. Looked great, but the flavor wasn't there. As a second generation Italian, I was hoping for more.

Fantastic Italian cafe & Bakery

Thank GOD for our friends who are "locals" or we never would have found this gem ! Loved the decor and "Italian" colors. We ordered the stuffed meatball with spaghetti; our friends had the spinach ravioli. I am very picky about sauce ( since I love my OWN lol!) but there's was very good. Nice atmosphere and service: reasonably priced. We...

Terrible Service and Bland Food

We also went here after the DDD episode. When you walk in the desserts look great but that's where the greatness stops. The women who took our order was extremely rude because we didn't know which dessert we wanted and they weren't even busy. The food had no flavor and the meatballs were dry. We ordered our food to go...

I must admit I sought this place out after seeing it on Diners,Driveins and Dives and so glad we did! What a pleasant experience and place to eat. Excellent food! The pastries are incredible, and the meals are authentic Italian. A large meatball is served here and it's worth the money! The best meatball, ever, with delicious sauce. The pasta is good and portions are huge. If you like eclairs, treat yourself!

We made an effort to visit here because of the DDD special and passed up a number of great restaurants in the Virginia Beach area. We were here twice in November, and cannot wait to go back this week.
