Help us make it rightI've been overspending at Powells for 15 years. Today I had an unfortunate encounter with the owner. Instead of apologizing she said "I'm the owner. I can do whatever I want." I'll be buying my produce South of Powells from now on.
The produce is yummy and the prices are fair. The ice cream is delicious, with three different sundaes to choose from. The fudge selection is one of the best I've seen, plus the fudge is delicious. Most everything is local right now, by I understand that not everything is in season for NC at the same time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The tomatoes, watermelon, cherries, and...
This is the worst place we ever bought fruit from. Peaches were rotten and the watermellons were not fit to eat. What a waste of time and money. How does a place like this stay in buisness? For some reason It wont let me give you one star. This place should be open to negative stats.
Bought some cantaloupe, wich turned out to be tastless, corn turned out tough, a bag of boiled peanuts wich where thrown away because they where old and tastless and some peaches that where ok. We travel a lot and like to support lokal producers. We liked to stop at Powells and found the second produce shop on 168 closed and had to go back to the first one. Needless to say we where disapointed
We stopped here the first week of August on our way to the Outer Banks. It was a total tourist rip-off. The staff was incredibly rude and surly and the produce was outrageously priced. . .to the point of being absurd. My suggestion is to not be lured by the enticing road signs and keep on driving until you find a reasonably priced place that appreciates your business. The only reason I gave...
We saw employees taking Driscoll strawberries from California like the ones you can find in grocery stores and then taking them out of the plastic containers and pouring them into open paper quart containers. Alongside the strawberries was a sign saying "North Carolina Produce" and then the price of the strawberries. They did the same thing with grapes from California. If you want to sell...
We always make it a point to stop at this market on our way to the OBX. They have wonderful fresh produce, and very friendly staff. We love the peaches and tomatoes in the sand buckets. We have never been disappointed and have been stopping here for years. They even have opened a clay shooting range which has really excited my husband LOL There are other markets on the way to the beach, however...
My family and I have been taking a week long vacation to the outer banks every year since I was little and we discovered the market on one of our first trips. We make it a habit to stop every year to get veggies and fruit to take to the house we rent! The produce is amazing and yummy! We have never been dissapointed with what we've bought and will continue to stop and get something! I reccomend...
