The Polka Dot was the sort of place Joseph Mitchell would have loved, but fo better or worse, it is no more. The building is on the mArket, but the price is much, much too high, and the railroad owns the land on which it sits,
This is just good home cooking at the right price had both breakfast and dinner right near the hotel. Staff was friendly and the place was clean.
Quaint little place. You can park by the train station. Good prices, friendly down home staff. The grill is right by the counter seating so you can see your food cooked.
Great chance to enjoy a classic New England Diner. Friendly service and experience! This Diner has been part of the White River Junction scene for a long time. Try the corn-beef hash for breakfast or lunch. You will enjoy it. Also all of the baked goods are homemade and will be enjoyed!
Alas. After over 50 years of serving burgers, fries, and other comfort food 24/7 to railroad workers, college students, and Vermonters, the Polka Dot has closed!!! Doesn't look like much from the outside and we almost opted for the coffee bar across the street but glad we didn't. Friendly old fashioned service, reasonable prices and old fashioned doughnuts that were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. In a town that is almost impossible to find food, it's a welcome sight. It's an old, dated diner car but quite clean and welcoming.
Their menu was very reasonably priced and the service was fine.
The food was great but the service was not the best. Only one waitress and she never refilled our cups and seemed overwhelmed. Half way through breakfast a man and women started cleaning the table behind us and apparently weren't too happy about it.
