Location\n\nNo
Great location\n\nWe have stayed at this motel on and off for years. It has deteriorated rapidly and has, unfortunately, moved onto our "Only if critical situation" to stay there.
The location was very convenient for the purpose of my trip. Cable TV was included but there were issues. WIFI was included as well. I chose to not use it.\n\nProblems with TV, Drain was inadequate in tub/shower. There was a noticeably strong smell of cigarette smoke in the area of my room (non smoking )
Location\n\nPool area needs to be cleaned up and ventilation.
Breakfast, suites\n\nTvs
The staff and pool\n\nOlder tube TV
There is a fridge and microwave.\n\nThe breakfast was not good. They don't circulate the water in the pool so there is a slimy film on the surface. The rooms were ok but we kept worrying about bed bugs. They had to change our room 3 times for various reasons.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.\n\nThe only negative during our two-day stay was that the Wi-Fi did not operate from our room. The Front Desk checked our Ipad and laptop computer. Internet worked fine from the lobby, into the elevator and hallway but stopped working entering our room.
I stayed here because I was attending a conference held here. I arrived the night before for 2 nights. Checkin was a breeze, no problems at all. I was on the 4th floor of the hotel section. Appears there are 2 sections, one interior rooms for hotel guests, and another area with exterior doors, more for weekly rentals. As I...
Cons: This hotel was cheap in every way. The room smelled stale and weird. The drain took forever to clear in both the shower and sink. The didn't have my reservation in their computer when we checked in or out. The pool is weird and green and the whole area clearly wasn't cleaned in some time.
Pros: Staff was nice....
Location\n\nThe bathtubs drain were clogged and we had to use another room that was not assigned to us, to take showers.
New management isn't much better I had a house keeper walk up to me and tell me I was trying to get her fired and started arguing with me. Housekeeping was just rude I've been here a month and I'm thinking about moving
I had read the reviews before booking this hotel. I knew some earlier reviews weren't very good, but I also knew they were under new management. We had a great stay, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The room was clean, smelled nice and very comfortable. Often when we return from a hotel stay, I have to wash all our...
When entering the building, you get a great feeling for this hotel, then you get to your room. It was clean, but I'm guessing they have a problem with sheets, since they do not fit the beds and the bed I slept on, the sheets were inside out. The pillows were lumpy and very uncomfortable. They have old box tvs...
I recently stayed at this hotel and they are making new renovations. They are upgrading their furniture and televisions. Point Plaza has also changed their whole breakfast menu to an actual full breakfast. I hated to have to leave, their beds are really comfortable. The manager also stated that they will be opening the dining area as well, which would...
I arranged this for my father- and mother-in-law. They were too nice to say anything at first. But a few days in, they changed to a new hotel. They told me the room was terribly unclean. Roaches, and old food found under the trash bag in the room. Obviously shows serious understaffing or very lazy, to point they would put a new trash bag over old trash!
The price and location of The hotel was very convenient for the event. Also the cab service and the waffle house that was within walking distance of the hotel.\n\nThe blankets were thin and the pillows were uncomfortable.
Very nice and clean great staff and good breakfast bar.
Pulled up to this hotel and we saw a few guess and we figured we were in for a disappointment. The lobby did not match the rooms on the outside, it was nice. We dealt with person at the front desk, who i feel just needs a little more training on how to treat the client. She was on her own and was paying attent to several different things so i had to repeat my name several times to her. Walking...
Point plaza is very comfortable and accommodating. They have a huge pool and fulfilling breakfast. I've stayed in the weekly rooms and the regular rooms; they are both spacious and worth every penny.

I stayed here recently and loved it. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is decorsted beautifully for the holidays. The suite I booked for the night was beyond amazing. Check in was quick and leaving the next morning included warm farewells from the hotel manager. I will most definitely stay here again and recommend family/friends to reserve accommodations when they...
Clean room, basic carb breakfast, small double beds, older non-flat screen tv. Second night we needed to switch rooms when the heater stopped working. The shower was not working properly in our new room. Cheap stay for basic lodging. Too cheap for a three night stay.
The staff was very helpful and friendly.. The room was clean.
Overall experience was good. Centrally located next to everything. You can't complain with the price.
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The lobby and hallway smelled musty.
The free breakfast
Have stayed here before and that is why I choose to stay here again but this stay was disappointing. The parking was terrible to those coming back later in the evening. The bathroom absolutely no toilet tissue at all and when we called down to front desk was told we would have to come and get it???????? The mirror was full of smudges the coffee pot was dirty hair on the floor. The ice bucket...
Our stay at Point Plaza was just fine. The hotel is old, but the room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were polite. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. When the eggs gave out about an hour before the end of the serving time, none were brought in. The server just brought in a second pan of hash browns instead! My husband saw the server use his gloved hand to...
A lot of roaches running around
"Non-smoking" room had a definite stale smoke odor; hallway was even worse. Door latch was broken, and entry way light was not working; old "tube" TV with lousy, snowy picture; 2 electric outlets not usable - cord would not stay plugged in.
Too bad, because otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was OK. Smoke smell was a deal breaker.
This hotel is horrible! we booked 5 rooms as we were here on a church conference, I checked the pictures and the reviews, but was surprised when I entered! There are stains on the rug as you enter, stains on the carpet throughout, a musty odor in the rooms and in the hallways my niece who is asthmatic, started having...
Absolutely LOVED my stay there. Disappointed that there weren't any Point Plaza hotels in Maryland/dc area.
My name is Darlie Nelson and I stayed at the Point Plaza Suites between 10/17 to 10/18. It was by far the worse experience I ever had. The pillows on the bed was horrible. Looks like they have been re wash over and over instead of getting new ones when clearly they have ran its course. The shower pressure was the worst because half the water was still running from the lower part of the faucet....
While checking in the lady at the front desk was having trouble finding several reservations and was making comments about coworkers while dealing with customers. Later I called down to have more pillows brought to the room. The lady from early stated that she would try to get some up to me. 4 hours later still no pillows and it was getting late in the evening so I called the desk again. Same...
I want to let you know how terribly disappointed I was with this hotel. While the staff was nice, the photos of this hotel must be extremely old. The hotel is run down, dirty and is not in keeping with the standards I would expect with Hotels.com The shower only half worked; the walls had holes in it; the parking lot had no lights on; the walls are paper thin; overall completely disgusted
Our team did a week stay at this hotel for the summer 2015 Jr Olympics. I'm going to share my experience with this hotel, however before doing so I will start with the staff.
Despite the dissatisfaction with the hotel stay, we had no other options as everything in Virginia was booked for the time we needed to be there...
The staff was very friendly and helpful! Gave me directions to my room and helped us get settled. It was close to our venue and perfect for one night.
I enjoyed my stayed looking forward to staying again in the future
Great staff, especially Cherita at the front desk who went out if her way to help us find off track places to visit...thank you.
The hotel was older and in need of some updating, but comfy, clean, and a great price.
Nice and cozy place to stay. No issues. The hotel is large with great parking & multiple ways in and out. The room was very clean and spacious.
Great swimming pool, big bathroom, pretty good breakfast, friendly staff.\n\nUpon arrival, hair on the bathroom floor, pair of socks on the floor near TV. Room just not very clean and very old fixtures. Bathroom drain very slow.
We stayed here for a wedding and it was probably the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. It was not because it had not been cleaned, but because everything in the room was probably 30 years old. Everything was stained, including the curtains. We were only given 2 bath towels and they were dirty. There were no hand...
We picked this hotel because of its location and pool. The pix of the pool they show is a tad optimistic. It's a plastic lining pool, tears & stained. The water smelled foul. The room was worse . Carpets old and stained, as was the furniture . When I asked for extra sheets I was asked why I wanted them,...
This would have been an avg review if the second night there had not been a cock roach in the room. I killed it and rather than complain Ieft it there to see if house cleaning would remove, nope! Even if that wasn't the case it misses all the small details you can. 1 tiny trash can bathroom only, room...
Was checked in to a room with no light in bathroom and no toilet paper at all. Immediately was moved to another room. Curtains were torn and wouldn't close all the way. Left them so someone could send the problem and when I returned they had pushed them back open but had done nothing to fix the problem.
Terrible! I have stayed at this hotel 3 times in last year during baseball tournaments in spring and fall. The place seems to get worse every time I stay there. The kids like it because of the indoor pool, but it's not worth it anymore, never again. Too many problems to list, but a few that stand out is our TV didn't work and they couldn't fix it, yet they refused to give us a discount for that...
Overnight stay for a housewarming foe close friends. We drove 5 hours to be there. Hotel was fantastic! I don't write reviews but this hotel was nice, staff friendly and room clean! Breakfast was good also! Will definitely stay again! And for the price, OMG...it was a steal!
I consider myself a TRAVELER! In all my traveling I have NEVER stayed in a hotel as bad as this one. 1st got in late and guy gave us wrong room and didn't seem friendly at all, 2nd rooms are VERY OUTDATED (TV, bed, kitchen) and pull out couch you could feel the springs. We had a suite sleep 6...
just really nice people and hotel
One-night stay for a quick trip to VA. Have stayed here in the past. The hotel is acceptable for the purposes of having somewhere to sleep for the night. Desk service was mixed regarding acknowledgement, though always friendly in interaction. Neat pool area that appeared well kept, though we didn't swim this time. Good highway proximity. Hotel is a mix of outside entry rooms and inside entry...
My family and I were there for 2 nights. The first day we left the room at about 9am and returned at 6pm and our room had not been cleaned. That was an unpleasant suprise and the last thing I expected. Otherwise the hotel was okay.
Overall good. breakfast could have been better.
Overall it was a good stay. Breakfast wasn't good at all but it is free so can't complain to much. Pool was warm and clean. Front desk was very rude and unprofessional. Good luck get fresh towels or room cleaned, housekeeping did not come to our room til 8pm and I had to call and ask for fresh towels.
had a good time and the food was very good i like the pool
We chose this hotel because the price was low and the pictures made it look very nice. The lobby is beautiful; that is the only plus to this location. When we entered the room, it must have been 100 degrees so we turned on the a/c. We proceeded to the pool, which was poorly lit but the pool area looked...
Extremely disappointed by the upkeep of the facility as well as the lack of hoursekeeping available when needed. Called the front desk for towels when we checked in and were told that no one was in housekeeping ---- the clerk was supposed to find a minute to run to the laundry and get towels and call us to collect the towels. Never received a call. Personally went to the front desk in the...
The building is older but the staff made up for it all. Very polite and they had a nice breakfast. Beautiful woodwork and staircases in the lobby. We also enjoyed the huge pool.
The pool!\n\nThe ciculation in the pool area

The only good thing about this trip was the front desk clerk Cherita when I was checking out. I checked out a day early. I had to change rooms four times. The rooms was musty smelling. The hotel looked like a ghost town when all of the other hotels looked full to capacity. Picture of pool is very misleading. Would...
We stayed here to be close to CNU for move in. The price was low, but I must say you get what you pay for. Hotel is a hotel/motel combo with inside and outside rooms so it looked a bit sketchy when we arrived. The facilities were aging and worn including hallways, mattresses, and room décor. The noise in the hallway could easily be heard in the rooms. Breakfast was "continental" and nothing...
Decent hotel. Fairly Clean inside. Needs new carpet...has an old carpet smell to the rooms. Also the Tv's are outdated.
Price was the Only thing good about this place. Total messed up rooms, we were suppose to have 1 king and 2 rooms with 2 doubles. not what we we originally checked into. One room wasn't even cleaned from last guest. Beds unmade ,dirty towels in tub, garage in garage cans. Then the room they gave us had a huge bug, no closet door and wires hanging were smoke detector should have been. finally...
The door on the hotel room stop locking and I thought it was locked when I went out. I called front desk they came confirmed and move me to another room. They are old rooms but great for sleep if your going to be out most of the day.
Nice lobby with cold water and coffee. Check-in was friendly and efficient. A/C in the room was great. Room itself seemed clean. Bathroom light switch didn't have a switch cover! Moldy bathtub tiles.
We left. Carpet not vacuumed. Wet towels in bathroom. Place was absolutely horrible from start to finish!! How it had a 3.8/5 rating is beyond me !
Bien, la piscine est grande mais piece de la piscine pas tres propre, chambre confortable
I had the opportunity of meeting one of the most wonderful person ever, who not only took care of us but made sure we had what we needed for our stay. We had one of the suites which wasn't the finest but just right for a family of 5 we had our own space and so did they. I would defiantly stay here again the pool is nice they have a movie room free breakfast great pick at a discounted price. and...
Our room smelled like smoke, the comforter and bed liner were worn, the chair was dirty, bed sheets had holes, carpet was dirty, television was old, beat up woodwork, shower has mold, all rooms need new furniture and linens. Lobby staff was very professional
Hotel was clean and staff was very nice. I will definitely stay there again
Reserved a room with a king and a room with two doubles. When we checked in, all the had was Kings. They said they didn't guarantee room types. I had four kids that were suppose to sleep in one bed. They had no rollaway and would not provide another room with a bed. Atrocious.
The hotel didn't look like the picture that was On-line. The hotel would not be bad if it the furniture was updated. Every room still had old style TV no flat screen. I ask for a wake up call but no one call, overall a bad experience.
I didn't like anything about this hotel.
when I arrived, I stood for ten minutes at the desk with no one in sight. I called the hotel from my cell and only that prompted an employee to come to the desk. they will not let you check in even half hour early, I was told no rooms were ready. the room was old and the sheets were ragged. there was a hole in the bathroom wall and no switch on the light in the bathroom. the "awesome" pool was...
Good experience. Good family trip. Will come back and tell a friend
Not impressed- I had booked a king size room- I arrived to a room with 2 double beds. When I asked the hostess- she said they were sold out. Well that's funny- because when I made my reservations- you weren't sold out. Staff was unprofessional Sat evening\n\nCheck in is 3pm. I arrived at 4:45pm to be told my room was still not ready- I had to wait another 30 minutes for my room! Explanation was...
The price was fair and the breakfast decent. Right next to highway, all and all we had a great vacation.
The stay was fine, room was not bad and it was clean
Landscaping was terrible. Kids running down halls all hours of the night. No friendliness when checking in or out. Never was asked how was your stay. Booked a non smoking room and got a smoking room.
Nice size pool and comfortable room real busy it had a banquet hall used for wedding and there were 2 going on when we stayed.
I was able to check in early with no fee. Staff very nice and helpful.
My family stayed at the hotel over the 4th of July weekend. We arrived at approximately late afternoon with our confirmation letter (I had booked the rooms weeks ahead online) Even though there was nobody at the counter, it took the front desk 15 minutes to acknowledge us and attend to our check-in. We found the room to be musty...
The staff were friendly, and the room was adequate.\n\nNone of the lamps in the room had light bulbs, so the only source of light was the overhead lighting, and the air conditioning struggled to cool the room.
Courteous staff, theater room\n\nRoom smelled, various items in need of Repair
Clean, quiet, full kitchen, great shower\n\nNo breakfast, tiny bathroom
They did not have a lot of towels for the pool or the room, we had kids and they loved that pool but they were out of towels.\n\nThey did not have enough towels\n\nIt was a nice hotel.
Staff was very friendly and polite. Exterior suites were very spacious with living room, kitchenette and sizable bedroom.\n\nExterior suites were out dated and worn. Cigarette burns in the bedding. Felt like I needed to spray every surface with Lysol, including the bedding. Lobby smelled like urine and hallways like body odor.
Great location\n\nSmelled awful parking situation was awful I didn't feel secure and the breakfast gave me serious diarrhea.
The front desk clerk, Cherita, is great. She takes care of the customer. Have not had any problems. Indoor/outdoor pool. Very comfortable. They are renovating but it still looks good and renovation is unnoticed.
Nothing. It was horrible and I a\n\nI didn't like the location, the staff, the other guests, the size of the hotel. I didn't like people yelling profanity @ 3 am and slamming doors. Also I didn't have a good check in experience.\n\nI tried to check in an hour after the check in time and I was told my room wasn't ready and they didn't have another room to move me too.
The location was great for being close to VA Beach and Williamsburg. The staff was great. The room was clean.\n\nThe pool was dirty looking and the outside area of the hotel was dirty. The outside stairwells smelled.
Location and responsive\n\nThe breakfast, a couple things were messed up but was replaced or taken care of\n\nWould stay there again, great for the price
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
I reserved one non-smoking bedroom with two beds. When I arrived I was given a room with one king size bed. The only two rooms available with two beds were smoking rooms. I declined. Instead I was given a roll away bed at no charge. Really?? Did they really expect me to pay for their mistake. One of the elevator...
Stayed here this past weekend . Upon entry I didn't know what to expect about the quality of the hotel being that it was only about 64 a night. When I entered the lobby I enjoyed the look of the double staircase but the decor of the place is very outdated. The condition of the room was upkept. It didn't...
Pool
Placed in "Tower 2" outside door looks like it had been broken into before, old smell, completely dusty, bed had a thin comforter, kitchen area not clean & rusty, bathroom towels dirty, never got new ones after requesting, breakfast was awful
Don't let the website and the pictures fool you. This hotel is terrible. Very old, shabby, stinky and dirty. Furniture, appliances, bathrooms are old, carpets are worn out. The room was so smelly, we asked to be given another room. The second room had dusty tables, carpets had pieces of trash and candy in the corners of the room( still...
This has been my default place to stay since my daughter has been in college out here. I visit from Northern California. It has been a good value. However this time, the room rate was up and the service quality way down.
Arrived on Saturday and requested an early check in. Request denied. Checked in later and was placed in...
This hotel is warm and inviting in the main lobby area and the hallways. There is wood everywhere; beautiful wood lines the hallways. A double staircase envelopes the main lobby area, a beautiful touch. The rooms are okay. They were clean and welcoming. There were some moth holes in the curtains that became evident at daybreak. When we turned on...
This hotel is outdated, so it has typical older hotel issues. We contacted management with a few minor issues during our stay, which were handled professionally and our issues were fixed. We weren't impressed with breakfast, but most of the staff were very helpful. Not worth $100.
Room was spacious with a nice sized mini fridge.\n\nThe sheets had a hole in them and so did one of the walls. The breakfast was inadequate & they didn't have standard items such as blankets or toiletries for guests who forgot items like toothpaste/deodorant. I will not stay at this hotel again.
The hotel was alright. Comfy bed. Nice flat screen tv. Clean bathroom and sheets. Heat/ac worked. I wasn't impressed by the free breakfast. There weren't many options for those trying to avoid bread. There were well stocked vending machines. The outside is deceiving as its two parts, exterior accessed long term rooms and hotel rooms with interior access. The exterior...
The staff is very accommodating but the comfort level has changed since we were there last year. The pillows were ridiculously lumpy and sparse. For a king sized bed there were 2 mini pillows until I requested more. The room smelled like smoke. The air conditioning was incredibly loud. The complimentary hot breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy every day....
It is convenient for our destination in Newport News.\n\nThis is our second stay there when the key card didn't work.
This used to be the old Ramada Inn, ot sure what happened to it. This place is just a shadow of what it was once been. Though still decent to stay in, staff is ok, helpful just not the family touch it used to have
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!
This past Sunday, 1 March ’15, I was traveling from San Diego to Newport News along with four other coworkers. We had reserved 5 rooms for 3 nights in the Plaza Suites. After terrible weather across the country and cancelled flights, I was the first to check into your hotel around 2:30 am, Monday....
Not much to enjoy. Upon entry into the bathroom hair was all of the floor and tub. Room phone did not work, hot water to tub did not work and drained very slowly, indoor pool was very cold. The whirlpool from my last visit is now gone and bricked in. The good breakfast from last time is now replaced with...
The shower was nice and strong.\n\nBait and switch move....said had kings size bed available of course at check in only double rooms available. Worst beds I ever slept in. Hard as the floor. Super cheap mattresses, might as well stayed in a dump cheap motel for less money.
The room was good I loved the stay...\n\nI didn't like the fact the maid was n the room without me noin in wend I was not there
It was a last minute date night getaway and we booked a king bed only to find out when we get there they only had 2 doubles. Room was really nicely decorated, older TV though. Bathroom was very spacious but the beds were hard as a brick
We both woke up with horrible back aches. With a little upgrading I...
Staff was nice, locations was good, price was good\n\nThis was not a 3 star hotel. Rooms where dirty. Lock did not work. Pool was freezing
Awful. Waited about 10 minutes at front desk When we arrive nobody around. The next day had to switch our king-size bed for full-size bed because a broken toilet.no King-size bed available.no room service on the second day. We had to take out dirty towels and washcloths to the front desk for exchange. At night when we got back home from our trips doors were locked by front desk staff we had to...
Close to highway. .\n\nStaff was quite rude about the room. Was told 4 or more times about being kicked out of room without refund. Couldnt get an answer from staff about things I left in the room. After making a reaervation was told when I showed up that they dont have a room.
location\n\nlittle hot water\n\nfirst night there were shots fired on the floor above me. apparently the night club in the hotel draws a bad crowd. would not recommend it for families.
Its just ok. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. Just the basics. Conveniently located, there's many restaurants very close by. And next door to a grocery store and gas station. Located immediately off of I-64, at the J Clyde Morris Blvd/Yorktown exit. The hotel has been there for many years. Years ago, it was called the Ramada Inn, and it had a...
Staff is courteous and knowledge. Great location to a lot of sights and shops. Free breakfast was exceptionally good and the amenities are worth the value.
This hotel is one of our favorites! Near all major freeways, stores, oyster point city center and a newmovie theater. The hotel has a refrigerator and microwave in the room and a fabulous place to dine.we can feel at home away from home every time we visit family.
November 2014. Staff was not helpful for any of my concerns. We had a two night reservation. only stayed one night. Room was not very clean. Bed lumpy. Breakfast was poor no eggs. staffs response was eggs were ordered and had not arrived and no decaf coffee was available. No refund or staff concern when we request that our bill...
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with reservations through priceline. It has a 3 star rate but I have no idea how that is so. I had a 2 bed room and everything was very outdated. Sheets had holes, pillow cases were old, shower was dirty and the shower head was rusty. The rooms were set up completely...
It was fairly clean and the room had a good work station. Quit.\n\nAh...staff was not friendly. Location...it's in the hood.
This hotel is a little dated but clean with all the conveniences needed. Central to Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and other historic sites. For $53.00 a night including a nice hot breakfast and fitness and large pool, great stay. Front desk staff were very friendly
The thing that I liked best about my stay is that is was only one night!!!\n\nThis place is horrible, how did it ever get 3 stars.
The location is very close to the freeway used most during the trip\n\nThis hotel is billed as a 3 star hotel and it is NOT.\n\nThick spider webs were seen on the window ledges in the rooms and hallways indicating no one had cleaned them. Towels were hard and rough (could've used a dryer sheet to fluff them up, maybe?. One thin blanket on each bed was not enough and the heater smelled horrible...
Price and availability of King Size Room. Nice bathroom and great toiletries!\n\nThe bedding didn't appear the freshest (there was a stain on the sheet) but otherwise great.\n\nNone
Friendliness and comfortableness\n\nYou couldn't take your free breakfast back to your room.\n\nExcellent value for the price! Would definitely stay there again.
I arrived to find that the only room available was a smoking room with one bed. I had telephoned two days before to confirm my 3-night reservation was for a room with two queens/non-smoking (made two months before) and was told that yes, it was reserved and everything was confirmed. I had told them when I reserved that I have...
Staff\n\nI made the reservations but two other parties were responsible for their own rooms. All rooms were charged to my account and am still waiting for the one to be removed from my account. The other is sending me a check to cover the cost of their room.
My husband and I chose to stay here to break up our long trip to the OBX. We saw that it was listed as a 3 star hotel on hotels.com so we went ahead and booked it. When we arrived, they were having trouble with the keys so we had to have security come and let us in our room....
The staff, very friendly and helpful. The location was great, on/off easy to the freeway.\n\nThe rooms were more like a 1 1/2 star. I have stayed in 2 stars that were better. Our original room the ac went out so they moved us. In our 2nd room we had ants.\n\nThe lobby is very nice and looks like a 3 star hotel, you wouldn't guess it from the outside. The big black rot iron gate and fencing...
nothing\n\nthis is a two star motel. not a three star hotel\n\nthis is a motel, not a hotel
I am puzzled by the vitriol in many of the latest reviews. We stayed there last weekend, and it was a perfectly acceptable hotel for the price. We booked thru Priceline, so the rate was very good. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. We had a refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom was stocked with bed bath...
This hotel is definitely dated...but I liked the décor! Beautiful scrolling fixtures and wall paper. They are having problems with the room keys not working and that was a pain. Yes, I would stay here again as long as the key issue gets fixed.\n\nThe key issue..\n\nStaff were very helpful! Nice big pool...No musty smell in room, although there is a musty smell in the lobby must be the pool
door card took many tries the second day. Finally sent security guard to work with it. Front desk recopied it 8 times. Took many tries. The breakfast was good and well maintained.
It was very clean. The staff was extremely welcoming.\n\nHotel smelled musty.
This hotel was a very good value and has a good first impression - nice lobby and very nice indoor pool. However it is showing signs of wear. Carpets are in dire need of replacement. Room was ok - clean and large enough - but needs updating. No vent fan in bathroom created damp odor. Staff was cordial in response, maid service was good. Complementary breakfast was hit and miss - limited...
There was a strong cigarette smell in our room even though our floor was non-smoking, but we were moved to an upgrade the next night.\n\nIt has smoking floors. Not very environmentally friendly. We had problems with the keycard. They had to be replaced a few times. We were traveling with my sister and her husband and twice she was given a room that was already occupied.\n\nAfter all the issues...
The hotel was terrible and deceiving. Stay at the one directly across the street. Please believe the negative reviews those are as close to the truth about this place that you are going to get. My room were changed without my knowledge or consent when I realized this I was "upgraded" to a suite. The place was terrible. There are...
5 star
Overall stay was good except for the linens was spotted and felt damp
Pleasant staff\n\nThis was not much better than a red roof inn. It was old, stuffy, smelly. The pool looked decent though. The breakfast was terrible.
DVD player in room. Good breakfast. Great staff.\n\nRoom and hotel itself updating to match its 3 star rating. Felt like o was stepping back into the early 90s (unless that's the look they're going for?). Not happy the pool was closed indefinitely but no indication of this at check-in.\n\nOverall, a good experience. Room wad clean. Staff very nice ESPECIALLY Joe who came to our room to...
Our experience at Point Plaza was mediocre. We were a bit unsure about what to expect based on the mixed reviews, but it wasn't bad. Nothing special, but the room was clean -- bug, odor, and stain free. Overall, it was quiet; except a few times we heard loud banging noises and running. Plus, it was odd to see housekeeping still cleaning rooms after 4pm. During our check-in, one of the staff...
This hotel was by far the worst I have EVER STAYED IN. I felt so unsafe that I could barely sleep throughout the night...or maybe that was because I was sleeping under ragged sheets on top of a dirty old mattress. We originally booked through a third party site and the pictures were INCREDIBLY DECEIVING - do not let the...
Very nice pool and the staff was very nice and helpful\n\nThe room had a little stale oder to it but not that bad. There were no towels at the pool, but the desk clerk was happy to get me some.\n\nOver all, I would recommend this hotel for the money. It's not a 5 star resort by any means but it wasn't supposed to be.
I travel a lot for work in and out of hotels all the time at first appearance room was clean and tidy but as soon as I turned the lights down cockroaches started filing out of the fire alarm I stopped counting at 5 I was going to switch rooms but figured the problem was in more than one room...
Staff was very nice and breakfast was great\n\nNon smoking room smelled like smoke, tv big and outdated and screen went red after being on for 5 minutes, hair dryer was cracked down the center so it couldn't be used. Staff was helpful though and had our tv fixed and replaced the hair dryer.\n\nPerfect place to stay if you don't need anything to fancy.
The rooms were comfortable and inside. I like that. Although an older hotel, it was clean and neat and the staff was kind.\n\nMy room keys didn't work twice and I had go back and get them keyed in. Also, there was a slight odor on the 3rd floor where I stayed and as you entered the back door by the pool.
Didnt stay long enough to find out.\n\nWhen we arrived. The pool was not usable, I was traveling with teenagers the whole pojnt of wanting a pool. When we got to the room, there were dead roaches along the floor of the wall. I did not feel comfortable having my family stay so we checked out.\n\nDefinitely not a 3 star.
I booked this hotel on hotwire and it was billed as a 3 star at a good price. However we stayed at 2 stars on our trip that were cleaner and nicer. The breakfast included was not bad though but I think I would book a cheaper 2 star hotel nearby next time.
I'll start by saying that threeyears ago my wife and I stayed here and found it to be a "diamond in the rough." We've been using the Point Plaza Suites for our annual vacation since. After this last trip, that will be changing. Check in went fairly smoothly, especially considering that we checked in over fourth of July weekend(July 5th,...
Stayed here using a PriceLine deal. The place is rated 3-stars, pictures looked good. Should be ok, right? WRONG!!!
Plus side: Room was relatively clean. Bath was actually quite nice, although fixtures were well "broken in". A/C was in good order. WiFi was fast enough for NetFlix, which is my standard for rating hotel wireless systems. The place was relatively...
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was reasonably priced and in a great location. What I enjoyed most was the hot buffet breakfast and the indoor pool. The hotel offers a map of the area. My check in went great. The lady who does the breakfast is outstanding and should be commended.
Great location right off of the highway and not in a bad area or anything. Staff were all very polite and courteous - pleasant. Bathroom left a bit to be desired as it was outdated and needed better maintenance (ie caulk needed to be replaced as it was older and colored, grout was stained and looked dirty, bath tub didn't drain very good, etc). Bedding and the rest of the room were average....
Hotel was clean. The breakfast was a plus but the food was average.
We were given a 'suite'. I was the most run down room I have ever seen. The nicest thing I can say about the room was that I didn't see any roaches, but I was sure I would. I am assuming they have more recently renovated rooms, like maybe the ones they show you online, but our room had furniture...
This was our 4th of July weekend getaway and we specifically booked here because the pictures looked great and because they had a pool. We even called ahead of time to make sure the pool was up and running fine and they said it was...but of course once we get there, the pool is closed the entire weekend with a sad "sorry for the inconvenience" sign. The staff just had a "too bad, oh well, we...
This hotel is gross. The curtains were hanging off the broken rod, dead bugs on the floor, old tv, cheap indoor outdoor carpet, bedding was as thin as tissue paper, the bathroom was not clean. Soap scum in the tub along with this nasty tub Matt that was dirty and peeling up. We left immediately.
The stay was nice. Great location for what I needed. And my kid loved the pool.
Hotel is older but was very clean for our visit. The king room was substantially bigger than the double. We stayed in the tower portion of the hotel. The front desk staff were very polite! The toiletries were very cute - even including mouthwash - and were Bath and Body Works brand, even the soap! Breakfast was yummy and diverse...
From the outside the place looks like a run down motel. My kids were getting a little upset until they walked in. A little update to the outside is greatly needed. The interior looks welcoming and clean. The cleaning solutions odor is not the best but not the worse either. The front desk staff were both very friendly and the...
We arrived to find a wedding party in the lobby and I was told we could not get our money back. So we went to the pool and we were chased out by the wedding party moving to the pool and we didn't even have room to swim. They were loud and we were actually scared to stay there so we left at 8pm and called to tell the desk. Very disappointed and would like my money back; after all we did not even...
Walked in the lobby and it had an indescribable odor that stayed in my clothes. The front desk lady was pleasant and professional. The same cant be said for the other staff. A maintenance person and a person behind the desk made sexual comments about a female guest within hearing distance of my wife. Driving through the parking lot there...
Upon arrival it took me forever to get waited on. The staff was too busy discussing weekend plans. Once we got to our first room there was trash on top of the dressers. i went to ask them to clean it up and when i returned my daughter had checked the bathroom. There were dirty towels left in the bathtub and soap and wrappers left on the bathroom. They changed us to another room that took...
Everything was great! Hot breakfast included, convenient location, and very pleasant staff!
Great stay, great staff, great value. Hot full breakfast, indoor pool.
It was nice. I don't travel often and usually stay at the more popular named hotels when I do. I was pleasantly surprised.
Had a great experience here had I known they had an indoor pool I would have brought my swim trunks but the staff was very friendly had an easy check in and most importantly the room was very clean and smelled good...look forward to my next stay and I will tell my freinds..A.S.
Inexpensive, clean, great location, nothing fancy. The staff was fantastic. The woman working at midnight when I checked in was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi was a decent speed and reliable. Hot breakfast was complimentary, but there was no fresh fruit; just cereal, eggs, sausage, etc.
Room was very good and clean and kept clean each day. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good.
My son and I was in town attending a friend's hawaiian themed party. When we checked in, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. A friend of mine also reserved a suite, and I was hoping to be next door to them. Unfortunately since my friend rented a suite, they were located on the outside while I was located indoor. It was great because it was pouring the night we checked in. The pool is...
The room was nice breakfast was delicious. The only black spot on the trip was the front desk clerk spend six minutes on a personal call before checking us in.
Food are very good and staff are wonderful, many thanks!
The hotel in general was pretty good, i took a vacation here from nyc. The location isn't really good unless you have a car or plan on spending money for taxis everywhere you travel. The hotel was staff was very friendly, except after I checked out. The front desk clerk could'nt even call me a cab. The rooms very clean and well kept. One thing i didn't like was the cleaning staff being able to...
rooms large, stunk of smoke, in a non smoking room.keys/locks were not functioning well.loud neighbors from 5am onward.needed some repairs.remote didn't work.A/C good, towels good, hot water.
I stayed from 5/4 thru 5/7...The reason for this trip was to visit with my son stationed in Newportnews...The breakfast was good but the room was something to be desired...The time I was there housekeeping did not step foot in my room to make the bed or clean towel...In the draws were letters from the previous person...They do have housekeeping I seen them out in the hall just not in the...
one night stay.... easy in easy out to the highway and convenient to where we needed to be. good selection of breakfast offerings. Clean and Neat.
The customer services was great. The food was not so good. The complimentary breakfast was horrible.
Hotel staff was very good dealing with families and others waiting out the storm. Some complications but given the circumstances went well. I was disappointed that there is no longer a lounge and restaurant. Was looking for that so I wouldn't have to stay in my room alone.
This hotel was convenient to the event I was attending and is easy to get to from the interstate. The first room given to us smelled bad and a check of the room revealed mold built up in the AC unit. We were moved to another room without argument. The staff were very nice. The second room smelled fresh and the AC unit looked much cleaner; however the bathroom vent was coated with a thick layer...
We stayed here for 3 nights and had a pleasurable stay. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The pool is well mainained and large. The breakfast is plenty filling to start your day and was much more then muffins, juice, and coffee that you get in some places. It's not the cheapest place around but you definitely get you pay for.
Was ok, older hotel that has not been well maintained in the rooms.
The pool was great. The kids had fun and thats all that matters. I will return again at a later date of course.
I thought the staff was really great - ALWAYS pleasant and accomodating - it was so refreshing to experience that!! My suite would probably be considered nothing fancy, but it was very nice, very comfortable and very clean, with the added television features, free wi-fi and free breakfast, I thought it was a fabulous deal for the price - and we were also convenient to so many things around...
Somehow I was expecting something a little nicer, although the room wasn't bad. As others have said, the wireless is pretty slow. The TV was an old Zenith SDTV tube. The room didn't have a vanity mirror, which was a real negative for the two females. The "restaurant" is only open for the breakfast buffet and the "bar" was never open - I assume it is only for parties and receptions. The...
I loved the decor and layout of this hotel. Very clean, friendly service, quiet area, just all around great.
Ants in room. Party above the rooms ... Keep everyone up all night. Front desk people didn't seem to care. They were either laughing and playing around. Or watching T.V.
we were in town for a family party. the hotel was great, except the coffee pot didn't work, but, there was free coffee downstairs, so it didn't matter.
the check in was great, they had everything ready for us,but the next morning we discovered that the bathroom sink does not drain for a while
I was here for a class and I had checked out of a hotel with sub par conditions and this hotel was acceptable by my travel budget. I had come here hoping to get a single bed but for some reason they had already booked my king size bed and gave me a double bed. The rates were quite pricey for the accomodations and the part of town. The WiFi is incredibly slow from a normal hotel standpoint......
I've been camped out in my room since I've arrived working - partially because the WiFi is so slow it's taking a lot longer to get things wrapped up. The beds are clean and comfy, the staff are very accommodating and polite. The room is vary spacious for one and there are a bunch of restaurants that deliver.
Rooms were clean and spacious; restaurant on premise which provided a complimentary "full" breakfast daily; large pool and computer access. Staff was courteous and helpful. From the exterior, a "motel look" -- I assumed I had made a mistake or wrong address, but the interior lobby and the room were a welcomed surprise. During our stay there were several events taking place in the conference...
Hotel and room were very clean with no odors. Pleasant staff at the front desk remembered me at checkout. I had read reviews complaining about shabby furnishings, but I saw none of that. I guess the large mahogany-like dresser and TV armoire might be dated, but mine were not ill-used. The heat/ac unit looked aged but was efficient. There were towels but no washclothes in the bathroom, but i had...
We enjoyed our stay, primarily because of staff hospitality and the excellent hot breakfast. We arrived early and the staff had our room available at 11:30 for early check in. The restaurant the front desk recommended on the James River was perfect. The location was great for us to access all of the areas we visited. I would highly recommend some upgrade of the bathroom, however. The wallpaper...
Actual was pretty close to pics online. Of courseit wasn't as big once you arrive. Staff was very friendly, always said good morning.
My husband and I had a great time at this hotel. The staff was very nice
Only qualm about this hotel, just wish their restaurant/room service was available.
Room was very spacious and clean, has a nice breakfast buffet (hot and cold food) and roomy eating area. The location is very central to places of interest which are no more than a 45 min drive away. Hotel staff wre very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would deffinately stay again. Nice fitness center and swimming pool.
This was the easiest access hotel I have ever visited. Directly off the highway!! The airport was down the road. The DVD player, microwave and fridge in our rooms was a perk. There was a 24 hr Walmart 5 minutes away to stock up on snacks and drinks.
check in was easy the check out was quick room service every day but one and teh breakfast was great
Point Plaza is very well run and the staff are friendly. Everything was well-maintained and clean. Bathroom products were Bath and Body Works, so decent stuff. We got a suite, which had a front room and kitchen. The pool is great sized and again well-maintained. Every morning there is a free breakfast that was really good: eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes/french toast, potatoes, cereal, and...
Great upscale bar, clean, attached to a nice hotel right off of 64 at j clyde going towards yorktown. Decent price on drink, but the atmosph...
My job has many conferences and get togethers at the Point Plaza so I've been there a number of times. The conference rooms are clean, the food is always excellent however the parking is a little difficult so make sure to get there early!
Very good family style restaurant. Very friendly and attentive service. They serve generous portions and also have food buffets. The menu allows for heavy or light dining, and they are gracious about taking … Very good family style restaurant. Very friendly and attentive service. We do the "lunch bunch" here every Tuesday-the brocolli soup is "to die for" and the salad/hot bar is mostly great too! Good value!
We enjoyed the lunch buffet. It had several nice selections, and the dinners are also good. Both the seafood and the steaks are well-prepared.
I usually go for the lunch buffet. While not a large buffet, there are plenty of choices. All of the food is good and hot. The food selection varies and provides items you normally do not see on a buffet. Not bad for a hotel restaurant though!
I must say this is a hidden luxury. Not only do they have a pool table. They have great food and drinks, and a dance area. The service is excellent as well.
Really nice big suites, bigger than my first apartment and for a great price considering everything that comes with it. I found standard rooms at other hotels for close to the same price as these suites. Nice big pool. Nice cozy restaurant. Overall, a really great place. I definitely recommend it to others.
