Help us make it rightOpen Water Grill
Open Water Grill’s primo waterfront location definitely makes it worth the short hop up to the north end of Avon. The back deck is practically over the water, and the view of the open sound from the back patio is unbelievable. There is plenty of outdoor waterfront seating, or you can also dine indoors, with a great view, or on the front patio. Open Water Grill is truly a grill — they cook the...
In creating the concept of any restaurant there is a ton of attention focused on the food and the ingredients that go into making that food good. At OWG we spent as much time focusing on finding the other ingredients necessary to open a truly great restaurant, the team that runs the place day to day. Luckily, available to us was the perfect mix of people who, through pure happenstance, had come...
Good food. Was disappointed that one of the original items we wanted was not actually an item any and all we were told is they wanted to take it off almost a year ago.The soup had a lot of shell...
We have been coming to the Outer Banks for 30 years and never had a meal this good. The service was great and the place was fun. The BBQ Brisket was astounding, it practically melts in your mouth. They prepared Blackened Flounder for my wife, even though it was the special for the previous day, and it was terrific. We...
We dined here our last night of vacation and had a wonderful time. Since it was a nice evening, we dined outside on the deck which overlooks the sound. The view was beautiful and we had a white egret not 10 feet away from us hunting for food in the marshes. He/she didn't seem to mind we were snapping photos...
We had a nice evening there on our recent visit to Hatteras Island. The food was great and we particularly appreciated the friendly service. I would recommend you ask for a table on the deck for a beautiful view of the water - perfect for a sunset dinner.
My friends got married this weekend, and they chose the Open Water Grill for their "welcome party" on Friday and their "after party" on Saturday. First of all, it's a really cute place, AND it's right on the sound. The food was delicious - they had a lot of variety to satisfy the pallettes of a couple hundred guests. Nice...
We stopped for lunch. We were the only people there. Our server was quick and efficient. She told us they were out of some things but we wanted the fish. Our shrimp, crab and fish sandwiches were excellent. One of the best meals we had while in the outer banks. They have the best kale slaw on their sandwiches. We...
Food and service were amazing. Portions were generous. Great view from the deck, but we had to move inside because there were too many flies out. Overall, we will ABSOLUTELY be coming back! Highly recommend.
My dad had ordered the ribs as he is not a fish eater. They came out and looked great (nice sized full rack), but they needed a chainsaw to get into them. Fortunately, they did remove them from the bill, but Dad went hungry that night.
My wife and I had the fresh tuna, and it was so-so. It was...
Awesome cilantro sauce, fresh tasty salad, generous with the chicken and seafood was to die for.
Large space on the water, humble and good service.
Pleasant waitress but with only a few tables of customers very slow service. We should have left when our drinks took over 15 minutes. She crab soup okay. Fish trifecta was horrible, the "fresh flounder" was muschy like a frozen flounder, scallops chewy and shrimp also tasted frozen. So many other places that are better in the area. DQ would...
When we walked in and heard the manager say there was only 2 wait staff and then never saw her again. Our waitress was certainly trying but was obviously overwhelmed. Slow service, food was ok but not for the price. She crab soup looked like it was pour from a can. Would not go back
Service is slow because they are overwhelmed with customers and apparently short staffed. That said, the staff are working extreme hard. Bartenders are making drinks by squeezing fresh fruit. Food...
Had lunch here. Got the fish tacos, and she crab soup. Both were excellent. The waitress was friendly. The Kale slaw is yummy and different. My only regret is I should have gotten a larger she...
Our group of 12 had lunch yesterday at the Open Water Grill. The service was very slow, since they only had on person covering the table service. She was great....but since the restaurant was full...
We hit this place up on vacation. First off we walk in for dinner and the place is packed. This is a real open floor plan and some outdoor seating. We were with 4 kids so we opted to eat inside...
Part of the reason I come to the Outer Banks is the food. I am thoroughly trained in the culinary field which makes me a tough critic. I'm not going to speak on the wait because it was no one's fault in particular, but they comped a 150$ bill and offered free drinks and dessert. This is by far my favorite spot from here on out. Food was superb. I will return and recommend it to anyone that asks
Steaks *** seafood *** burgers *** salads *** deli sandwiches *** surfer subs *** cold drinks *** fresh cut fries *** ugly desserts
