Help us make it rightI love the N.Y. style pizza that they have here. It's definitely my favorite and the best I've had while living in Richmond. I've also had their lasagna and many other dishes. Everything has been very good.
Maldini's is in our neighborhood and we have been visiting since it opened in 2005. The food quality is consistently high. No corners are cut. Wait staff have told us when certain items are not available because the produce or meat did not meet the chef's standards. The place has passed the test of my Sicilian friends who are also...
We returned to this restaurant after a couple years. It was just as good as the last time we visited it. They have wonderful Italian dishes to eat. The service was nice and friendly. We enjoyed the Italian music playing in the background. WE highly recommend it for a great Italian meal experience.
Less than impressed. We had pizza and wine. I can find a dozen better pizzas within a few miles of this location... We had the bartender suggest a bottle of wine, an we were very pleased, until the check came. We noticed the name on the bill was different than the one on the bottle. The one on the check...
I visit here all the time. Dining in, or having delivery the food is as superb. The staff is wonderful & amazing
This was my first visit to Maldini's Restaurant on Forest Hill Avenue in Richmond, VA. The restaurant was recommended by a family friend and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food served. The restaurant is located off of Forest Hill Avenue in a strip mall area and one would never think based...
because our experience was good. the food was above average. the service was excellent even though the place was crowded. big menu of a typical Italian place. prices were average not too high or low. seafood dish was good as were the veal dishes. would come again
This is the first negative review I have ever given and it hurts my heart to have to do so.
Was given a Groupon for Maldini's from my betrothed, who is stationed in Afghanistan, as a gift for Mother's Day. Made a reservation - they weren't too busy....no problem....until I happened to mention that I had a Groupon. The manager...
I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. I went fir lynch one day and had a sub. It was mediocre at best. The waiter was cute. I saw they had happy hour so I decided to go back that Friday and give it another try. Happy hour was again mediocre. The prices are to high fir what...
Like so many Italian restaurants, Maldini's has a huge menu ...pizza, pasta, fish, chicken, veal prepared all the familiar ways. Last trip I had Sicilian Eggplant. It's a little unique - no cheese and the eggplant is not breaded. Other than being a little bitter, it was delightful. My wife had a pasta carbonara. It was a little soupy and...
Beware!! The seafood is not fresh. Been here twice, never again. I became violently ill after the calamari. Food poisoning. The bread was undercooked and doughy even after sending first batch back. Lobster dish was inedible. There was so much mint it tasted like a large piece of chewing gum. Menu said nothing about mint in this dish.
The portions were generous, the service was exceptional…a no frills place but the experience is hard to beat for the price you pay. Their take-out service was very busy and their variety for eat-in was excellent. The antipasto mist was excellent…aged cheeses and meats, loved it!
Once again we gave Maldini's another chance. It's been hit and miss lately at best. The sausage roll was actually an onion roll that tasted like stir fry. The dough was undercooked and soggy. The eggplant roll contained little eggplant and too much basil. I asked for easy cheese and extra eggplant but I guess this request fell on deaf...
The appetizer mussels were enough to share, and the Penne alla Puttanesca and Linguine Pescatore were both delicious. I'll come again!
Nice surprise! We are Short Pumpers and decided to stop in on a Tuesday night. Decent crowd- nice atmoshpere. Great service. Started with bruscetta- nice and fresh on just toasted bread. Dinner, she got meat raviolli, he got spinach and ricotta canneloni. Both were wonderful. Finished with pistatio gelato - ahhhhh. Will come again!
Delicious!!. I first tried Maldini's in Forest Hill with a LivingSocial purchase and I have since returned due to the excellent quality of their food....Linguine Pescatore is perfection and all seafood has been tender and flavorful! The homemade cheese ravioli in a homemade sage sauce is also delicious! Given that items are made to order, it is not a speedy dining experience but with bread,...
Great attentive service. Yummy bread and sauce to dip in. We enjoyed red wine and draft. The salad was great as was the manicoti. Beautiful atmosphere too. You gotta go. We went there for 10th anniversary.
Very well done! The best pesto I've had in a restaurant.
Everything has improved tremendously. A few months ago when we visited Maldini's the service was slow and the kitchen just couldn't seem to turn out food. I am gluten free and they do have options. Last time I had gf pasta with seafood and it was excellent as was my husband's pizza, but we were reluctant to return, because the...
Dishes are watery and not rich in flavor like authentic Italian dishes. The tomato sauce is bland and acidic and the pizza dough tastes stale and not fresh... The service is horrible, and they don't sell slices... What pizzeria have you been to that doesn't sell slices... Just overall a not so good experience for a not so good price..
Tucked away in a small strip shopping center on Richmond's south side , this restaurant can be easily overlooked. And since it is off the beaten path for tourists, I think locals should take note. My husband and I were joined last night by another couple for one of the best meals we have had in ages. We started with...
We love the food here particularly the pizza. It is outstanding. The pasta is really tasty too particularly rigatoni ala Maldinis. The bruschetta is also amazing. I get what people are saying re service being slow but wow the food makes up for it
My husband and I have been looking for an Italian restaurant since moving to Richmond two years ago and we decided to give this a try because we had a Groupon. We started with the calamari which were a little undercooked (not brown enough) but very tender and the accompanying sauce was good. We each had a salad which came...
I ordered the Lasagna di Carne - it was a big gloppy cheesey mess. There were only 2 noodles in it and one was burned and could not be chewed. It was very salty; the only lasagna I ever had that was worse was an off brand frozen one. If an Italian restaurant can't make edible lasgna, what can they...
If you go to Maldini's please ask for a female waitress. I'm sorry that I don't remember the name of our server but he was the most offensive and unlikeable server I've come across in a long time. I've probably eaten in more Italian restaurants (in Italy) in the last 5 years than he's seen in his lifetime. His attitude...
Good Neighborhood Italian. I guess it's personal preference, but Maldini's is our favorite Westover Hill's eating spot. Love our usual waiter with the Italian accent.
I have vast experience with authentic Italian cuisine having visited Italy and lived in New Jersey for fifty years. This restaurant is incredible. They had a full page of vegetarian offerings and the fagolino I had was amazing...puff pastry filled with a spinach mixture and covered with a delicious Marsala sauce. My friends had the special seafood ravioli in a...
My husband and I went to Maldini's tonight for a quick bite after I got home from work. I was very tired and hungry, so I just wanted something yummy and a cozy spot! It was great. We had some salads to start and a very scrumptious large cheese pizza to share, it was very good quality the way you...
Horrible service with the staff. Food was nothing to brag about. It was recommended by a close friend. Never again will we go!
This is one of those places I noticed while driving by, and thought "I need to try that place." Strangely, none of my friends had mentioned it that I could recall, but it looked like a well-established restaurant with an assuring number of cars parked in front.
By now, I've eaten at Maldini's several times, and the food is consistently...
I recently visited Maldini's, on the south side of the James River. It's in a quiet neighborhood area. We were all satisfied with the quality and variety of our lunches.
The decor is similar to many neighbohood restaurants with a bar. Decent, but not stellar as far as that goes. However, we all commented repeatedly on the high quaity of...
Now I'll admit I have only had the pizza, but I stop in for a personal pizza once a week and I love this place. Jason, the manager, is a great guy, works super hard, and always asks after my family. The staff is friendly and hardworking and the food is terrific. Absolutely consistant, with fresh ingredients and ready quickly,...
I'm a little disappointed in the pizza. I ordered a fairly simple New York style pie with pepperoni. It was nice and hot but the taste of the pepperoni was...different with a odd after taste. I guess I expected more. Oh well. I've tried it and won't order again.
1 hour and 20 minutes for 1 pizza and chicken fingers. When it finally arrived the pizza was cold and the chicken fingers soggy.
Just finished dinner at Maldini's in Richmond. Our table enjoyed pizza, Stromboli and several pasta dishes - all were excellent. Service was also quite good. Jason, the manager, stopped by several times to make sure everything was satisfactory. Overall an excellent and reasonably priced dining experience.
My wife, her mother and I enjoy meals from Maldini's. Whether its dining in or picking up or delivery through their on-line service their cuisine is always good. The meat dishes plus vegetarian fare isconsistently good. I recommend the eggplant parmigiana and my wife likes the clams in white wine sauce. We have also tried other pasta dishes which are...
This was our fourth visit to Maldini's and if consistency is the sign of a good restaurant - this one delivers. With a large menu and wine list there is something for everyone. We really like their daily wine (glass or bottle) and drink specials. The food is wonderful. Not cheap but not too pricey either for a local spot...
This is a neighborhood place near my home. I have had some of the most amazing pizza ever there. The house chianti is quite good. The salads are crisp and fresh. I will say that on occasion I have been disappointed with the quality of the food. I took my sons there New Year's Eve and the food was mediocre...
Every time I visit my sister in Richmond, I ask to eat at Maldini's. My sister lives in the neighborhood so we can walk. It's a neighborhood restaurant and reminds me of the places we eat at in Italy. Inside it's warm and friendly...good for a family night pizza or a special evening out with friends and/or family. The menu...
great food - adult restaurant - no subs at dinner so the $5.99 crowd won't like it. Specials are often sea food - excellent. My wife and I eat there, often with friends, about once a month.
Relaxed hometown vibe. Was here for a fantastic multi-course meal. The staff was friendly and right on top off all requests. It was a wedding party meal, all set into place by my brother-in-law.
I've been to Maldini's a number of times, and I've never been disappointed. While their pasta dishes and other individual entrees are superb, what keeps me coming back over and over again is their delicious pizza. I've tried many other Italian restaurants and trendy "pizza only" spots around town, but Maldini's is the only place I've found with consistently good...
great atmosphere, wonderful service, incredible and delicious food...recommended to everyone!!!
Over priced no good time wasting experience. Will never come here again..and I suggest u do not as well. Waitress was very unprofessional and poorly dressed. What a joke..
Consistently good neighborhood restaurant with great pizza and pasta. On my most recent visit I had the bruschette which was delicious and the Caprese Panini. The panini was good but the mozzarella…
I took my dinner group of six middle-aged women to Maldini's for our annual holiday dinner. Now, I know very well that when a group of middle aged women descends on a restaurant, the wait staff usually cringes. They know full well that these groups are notorious for being demanding and then tipping poorly. We were served that evening by...
Very good food, always a good takeout option as it can be quite busy at times. Specials have been the same for a while, not sure if you can call them specials anymore. Overall a great little neighborhood restaurant!
Dare I say the best pizza in Richmond is South of the River? Yup it is. Better than Bottoms Up or Mary Angela's. Nice neighborhood feel with the best Italian sorbets! It's worth the trek over the…
Maldinis seems to be having an identity crises: is it an informal family...
When u first see the menu it looks like jibberish but u have to remember the owners of the this establishment are from Sicily. Try the lamb rack kind of high but well worth it. Pizza was rated in the top 3 in Richmond with them also being in the top 3 for non-chain Italian restaurant. Service is great, Atmosphere...
This was the weirdest menu I had ever seen. Weird things; some SO cheap for what they were and some WAY overpriced. So strange. Food was fine. Service was not fine. Just weird.
Looking from the outside you would think it was a hole in the wall run of th mill resturant. But once you step inside your relize differant. The sun dried tomato bread dipping sauce is out of this world. And if you have been searching for the perfect pizza you have come to the right place. The white pizza with...
What disappointment. Have had many good meals there and so happy to have a neighborhood restaurant with the feel of community. Everything is great unless you get a meal you are not happy with. There is no wiggle room with these folks. They could care less about the customer. It's all about their bottom line. So much for the feeling of community. Our money will be spent where the customer is...
The eggplant pizza is the best! I have never been truly satisfied with pizza in Richmond and now we have finally found a great place.
This is great place for fresh fish and seafood. They have a great pizza and none of the pasta dishes are precooked. They also have delivery around the neighborhood. I love this italian place.
The food is pretty good, but of the half dozen times we've ordered takeout...
Oh Maldini's. The first time I ate there it was pretty good. No problem with the food or service however, tonight was probably the worst calzone i have ever tasted. It tasted like it was pr-baked and then thrown into an e-z-bake oven. It was over slightly burnt and chewy; I've only seen that happen with microwaves.... And forget about...
Nice neighborhood restaurant. Good food, good service, good wine
list. A bit on the pricey side for the location and atmosphere. The kids
pizza is huge - my kids love it. In fact - all of the portions are large
(usually take home almost half of the meal)
Amazing Italian on Southside no less!
Love this place...lots of attention to detail.......great food.....wonderful service!
These guys make a great pie! Their New York style pizza has a great crust (you can fold it nicely) tangy sauce and just the right amount of toppings. They deliver and always say that it will be there in 45 minutes and bam 20 minutes later you have your pie. I've only done delivery so I can't speak for the on-site service. PS - thanks for actually speaking English when you answer the phone
