Editorial reviews from the web (2)

By Lorraine Eaton The Virginian-Pilot July 2, 2009

They shook. They smashed. They sipped here and there.

Following weeks of research and development, the bar crew at Mahi Mah's recently revealed a new cocktail list, handsomely bound and featuring some of the most inventive sippers around.

Consider, for example, the Old Fashioned Root Beer, a $10 combo of Three Olives root beer...

Great seafood and sushi with a gorgeous view of the beach.

The Scene
This casual spot on the lower level of the Ramada (right on the boardwalk) attracts a diverse crowd, from 20-somethings in jeans and T-shirts to executives in chinos and blazers...

My food and waiter were amazing! He had a great personality, and though he was busy, he was very attentive but not overly so. Despite the rude hostess at the front, I would recommend because of the great food and service beyond the hostess stand!

First of I'm visiting from Texas and Pappadeax spoils use with serving size and flavor.

I ate the seafood platter here and when I received it, it was the size of an appetizer then there wasn't any seasoning. I was very disappointed to pay $32 for a dish I didn't enjoy!

Excellent food. Had the fried seafood platter, mom ordered the flat iron steak. Everything was cooked perfectly & absolutely delicious, even down to the house made tarter sauce. Only complaint is that the music was a little on the loud side so we almost had to yell at each other across the table. Other than that, great food, great service, we will be back next time we come to the beach!

Weather for a beach was not good today and my husband invites me to Mahi Mah’s restaurant for a sea food lunch. The place was not crowded, however looks like a host and a waitress were not happy with our appearance. I never had such rude and unfriendly welcome to any restaurant before. So, I left this place without lunch and have no idea about it quality. The poor customer service made the experience horrible and ruined s rest of the day.

Outside advertising

What a great way to get around the ABC regulations against outside advertising of your drinks and prices, have the news paper do it for you. It's nice that a third party would do this for you and not cost you a dime. What disparity, to make things fair, one would think that the Pilot should now go to all the establishments and advertise their prices for them. Some establishments are very...

Yes, just last week drink prices were noted in the review of Baja Bar & Grille. Funny how no comment was made about them trying to get around ABC regulations, I guess its only competition at the oceanfront that the reviewer feels the need to disparage.

We were in VA Beach for Labor Day wknd and hadn't had any luck in finding great places to eat. We both are fans of seafood and sushi so this place seemed like a good pick. It was kind of crowded but that was expected, being that it was a busy weekend. We sat outside on the boardwalk which we liked b/c it was a nice night. The calamari was phenomenal! Our family went there this Thanksgiving. They had a special Thanksgiving buffet for $25.99/person, and we saw good reviews about Mahi Mah's, so we made reservation for that night. The food tasted okay, but definitely not worth $25.99, no sushi at all, just some baked salmon and seafood soup and Turkey. The worst thing is I found hair on my plate from two different dishes, my husband told the waiter to take the plate away and that I can't finish the plate because of those hair.
