The noted explorer, archaeologist, anthropologist, paleontologist, and part-time plumbing contractor from the University of Chicago, Professor Duffer A. Hacker, led two expeditions to the outer banks in the late 1920s. The purpose of these expeditions was to search for an answer as to what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke Island and to look for treasure believed to have been hidden by...

My wife and I took our kids and grandson and spent a great day having fun in the sun. Clean and very well maintained - friendly staff.

Nice place with waterfalls pirate ships and a train ride although the holes weren't too challenging it was still fun nonetheless and I would recommend it

Fairly challenging

We enjoyed playing golf here. Course is fairly challenging and offers some amusement for smaller children also.

A Fun Time with the Grandkids

Average Rating

Six of us visited this attraction. We chose this because the children, who live in the area, like this miniature golf course. The train ride was a fun way to get to the top of the course. Although we were given a card for one of the two courses, there was no one 'enforcing' who went on which course. So...

Fun from beginning to end

Well manicured greens are what you find at the end of your train ride. Very clean, holes are well laid out without ridiculous challenges. They vary which course you play so neither gets too crowded. Very enjoyable

Fun for everyone

There are 3 courses and they all wind up and down and around water features and over the train tracks. They have a little train to ride to get to the start which the kids all love (and even the adults!). It's clean and well maintained.

Lack of Traffic Management

Average Rating

Yes, it looks fun from the road. The course is very easy and targeted towards young kids skill level. Everyone also gets to ride a short train to the first hole.
My criticism is about managing the speed of play and volume of players. It took us 2 hours to complete 18 holes. Its always annoying to feel rushed at...

A resounding "meh

My wife and I came here on check-in day when we were looking to kill time, and played the gold course. Extremely boring miniature golf. Maybe the diamond course is more fun, but it seems that 14 of the 18 holes were nothing more than a direct line between your putter and the hole. No obstacles, no water, no traps,...

We hadn't mini golfed in ages, but this was alot of fun! The girls had a great time( 16 & 14). Enjoyed the little train ride to the course. It was challenging and busy. But we only had to wait a short time at a couple holes. One has a little stream- hit into the water and you might just...

Great place to go mini golf... and obviously everyone knows it. There were a TON of people there on the night we went. But it kept moving and we just ended up befriending the groups of people in front of us & behind us.. we were on vacation, we had nowhere to be in a hurry!

fun for the kids

Had a good time even for grownups only thing I didnt like is about half way through I had to go to the bathroom and the only way to get there was to walk through the course where other people were playing other than that had a blast.

Entertaining but be careful

Average Rating

This course moved fast, thanks to some clever sloping of the holes that allow even little kids to make the shots in a few hits. Be careful not to hit too hard though, or your ball will disappear in a water feature or under a fake rock wall, as happened to us.

Excellent family time

Great for kids. Excellent maintenance of course. Just a fantastic time. Well worth the $$$. Has a train ride to get up to the top of the course.

Simple but fun

Average Rating

It's a very simple course, lots of par 2. It was very crowded when we went so we played fast, no rules and just had fun with it. This was our 3rd or 4th time playing here. If you have very young kids it's fun to take the "train" to the course!

hoe in one

What a fun place to go to. Once you pay your admission which is a little pricey, you get on a train ride to your playing destination. There are two 18 hole courses we were on the diamond course. We really enjoyed the course as some were a little challenging but fun!!! We would go there again.

Fun course, clean, average price...overall recommend

There's two courses...Diamond (the one we played) and Gold. Very entertaining, clean, and very family-oriented. Coupons are available in local coupon books...so ask around at restaurants and hotels. We actually wanted to go back and play the Gold course, but ran out of time....definitely worth a stop for some fun!

Expensive Putt Putt

I took my son and his family for a round of golf. There were NO prices posted. The attendant asked if the children (4 total) were under 12, which they were. For 4 children and 3 adults the price was $63.00. I asked for a receipt but she said they were not available. Meticulous course and we had fun but...

Cool decoration, boring golf

Average Rating

Let me preface my review by saying, I understand that these mini-golf courses are family-oriented and definitely made for families with small children. Most activities in OBX are geared towards families and I have no problem with that.
Moving on, this course had a great "theme" and really cool features. A small train takes you to the top of the...

Two courses. Kids love the train ride to the top to get started. Hard to hit a consistent ball, but entertaining nonetheless. Crowded on summer evenings.

Would have been good if people in front of us knew how to hit a ball

Average Rating

Had a nice time but it took way too long. the group in front of us knew nothing about mini golf or hitting a stationary ball for that matter. They refused to follow the basic rules of the course. They each hit then went down the course to hit it in. Everyone hit a 6-7. It took for ever and...

Meh

Most of the holes are just straight shots, with minor dips and hills. The cashier was pretty rude and apparently pretty uninterested in being there. The "train ride" that takes you to the first hole of your course was broken, but it's probably easier to just walk to the first hole anyway...
If the holes had more interesting challenges, it...

An Interesting Miniature Golf Establishment

Once you purchase your golf ticket, you are guided to the gate to wait for the train. The trail will take you around the miniature golf courses and to the entrance of either the Diamond or Gold mine. From there, you are free to play your 18 holes of miniature golf. We enjoyed playing both courses and had a lot...

This was our second trip here, two adults and a now 5 year old. The train ride to the course is our favorite part! There are two courses, and we have now completed each. On the gold course, you are able to go on the pirate ship, so remembering this from last year, our child wasss disappointed with the diamond...

There are two courses here. You take a little train to the top of the courses. We had a great time. They have a mystery hole that they tell you as you leave. If you got a hole in one on the mystery hole then you win a free game. It is always very busy.

We went in the afternoon when it was getting cloudy on the beach. Actually rained abit while we were playing, but was lots of fun anyway. Amazing how they fit a full 18 holes in a small space. The kids really enjoyed it. Was pricey, I think for a family of 4 was about $35 and that was with a...

Too Many Bells and Whistles

This course has some crazy stuff going on - you pay and then ride a small train around the property to the first hole. There are two 18 hole courses to keep things moving, but then holes weren't particularly interesting. A lot of them were just straight shots on flat terrain. A but too cheeky for me.

This is a great mini golf course. You start with a miniature train ride to your course, which our kindergartener loved. The course is a good mix of easy and not so easy holes and there are lots of benches for sitting. Great fun! If you get a hole in one on the mystery hole you get a card for...

This was a great adventure. It starts with a mine car ride to the top of the courses. The theme and layout is unique. The grounds are well kept and clean. The line was soooo long, but it really went much faster than we expected. The pace of play was really good for the amount of people on the course....

We needed some time away from the beach, and my husband remembered coming here as a kid and riding the train up to the top so we thought it would be fun. It was, and we enjoyed our playing, but it was SO HOT and there wasn't much shade. That was a bummer! We also were told to play the...

We had a blast! Go a little earlier in the afternoon evening, when we left the line was VERY long & the holes will easily get backed up! We had a 7 yr old in our group who loved it, and the adults were able to laugh and enjoy ourselves too...great family fun!

Great for the kids

Enjoyable family night out. Like the fact that you take a little train ride to the start of the course and then they split you between the two courses. That did a nice job of breaking up the crowds and minimizing wait times between holes.

This was a fun course and very scenic. The train ride to the top was an extra bonus and my daughter loved it. There was a long line when we arrived but splitting each group up between the two courses alleviated the huge crowd. The only thing I would have liked to see is a friendlier staff. That would have...

I am getting to be a regular at these places because that has become a thing for my son recently. Taking a little train ride around the course before you begin is a nice touch. We decided to play mini golf on a whim, and this one looked like the most fun from the road. The cost was reasonable for a family activity, and my daughter played for free being 4 and using a plastic club (better anyway because she is not old enough to play anything that does not resemble croquet). There was a...

This mini golf course definitely has the best props and scenery on the beach, and the location is convenient to most anywhere on the beach (MP 6.5 on bypass in KDH). The courses are fun. The service however was interesting. The man who "greeted" us didn't speak/acknowledge us for the first two minutes of us standing in the window. It...

My husband and I are big mini golf fans so after reading the reviews we decided to make this a stop during our trip. The courses aren't that challenging but the story line and caves made them fun. There are a number of mini gulf places along the strip. The story line and train make this one slightly more unique than the others. My 10 year old and 13 year old had fun and the prices weren't as high as one might expect at a tourist attraction. The holes are probably similar to those elsewhere with different obstacles...

Nicest mini golf course I've played. It's well maintained and has a friendly staff.

Took my mom here for her 75th birthday! We definitely had a blast, especially riding the little train. Clean and fun. Great combination of easy and impossible (nearly) shots. For kids of all ages.

If you don't want to ride the train, just take the stairs. It leads up to the first hole for both courses.

Yelp

This is a great course! The mining cart ride in the beginning was really fun, and the two courses (gold and diamond) have both easy and difficult holes to play through. The setting is nice, and there…

Yelp

Not the best course. Nothing special.

Yelp

This mini golf course is "treasure" themed and included waterfalls and a train ride. But the courses themselves are pretty boring. There is shade on many holes so it's not unbearable during the day…

Yelp

A lot of effort put on the aesthetics of the place and to that effect the aesthetics are pretty good. The goofy little train ride that takes you to the first hole is a highlight. The downside is that…
