Help us make it rightKorean BBQ Grill, Asian, Galbi, Bulgogi, Fried Mandoo, Hot & Spicy Stir-fry
I don't know why I even try to have Korean food on this side of the HRBT. I get that a large majority of Korean people in Hampton Roads lives here but I just don't understand why the restaurants...
I love this place. It's small but the food is really good. I get the spicy beef & chicken Bulgogi. If you don't like spicy the regular is also good. Mandu (fried dumpling) is yummy as well. They give you a tray of different sides to go w/it & all of those ate yummy as well. Overall great food &...
I stopped by for a mid day takeout order of Bulgogi and was not disappointed. The beef was peppery and tender. The rice was fresh and not dried out. The condiments were savory. The meal was ready faster than I thought and I was on my way.
Stopped in for lunch just before noon. Four tables were already seated. Excellent prompt service. Nice atmosphere maybe a little dimly lit because of the oriental window treatment. Very clean and pleasant decor. Full menu with plenty of choices. My wife was stationed in Korea while serving with the military and vouched for authenticity of the food we ordered. She...
The best Korean food in Virginia.
Though my Korean friends strongly recommended this restaurant to me, I think their food is just ok. The service is very good though, make me feel like home. I visited it twice but have not tried their BBQ.
One of the best places to eat. I have been going there for years and never a bad meal. Very fast service. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Don't expect the violinist to sneak around the corner and start playing Korean folk songs. Just great food.
My favorite place. Equally good for a quick lunch or a long dinner with friends . I have been bringing friends here for over 30 years. Never disappointed.
Being from San Diego, I'm spoiled by good Korean food so my reviews may be different than others who come to this restaurant. I am used to tofu stew coming with an egg where you drop it in as it continues to boil. They didn't bring me an egg and basically my tofu stew tasted like Kim chi soup. Prices are high for the quality and portions of food.
I have eaten here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. More importantly, I have taken friends here and they were not disappointed either. The food is authentic( I spent two years in Korea) and the staff is good.
Very good staff, food, and service. My wife and I have frequented this restaurant for a while now. My wife enjoys #12 the shrimp, I have tried most of the dishes, some were just not for me, but over all it is very good food and the portions are enough for most but too much for my wife. The staff...
Great authentic Korean food. Service has been terrible my past few visits.
Excellent, authentic Korean food. It's what you're looking for. Be patient with the staff, they are very busy and English is not their first language.
Tried their new location on Monticello Avenue last night for dinner. It was wonderful. My husband and I both had the Bibimbap and it was awesome. Can't wait to go back!!
The food for most part was average and some of the dishes were of smaller portion than other places - lunch portion for dinner price. Went after lunch time but our food was slow to come out of the kitchen and the older women was by herself in waiting all the tables. She didn't charge for extra bowl of rice...
The food here is wonderful, and I mostly enjoy the atmosphere. It's like stepping into an oasis. It's not a modern or up to date decor...I just really enjoy how the windows are obscured from the inside. I love the Soondubu jigae and eat it ALL year round.
My friend and I live in Maryland, but we go each year to our Little Red Express truck show. About 10 years ago, we found this restaurant, and we have been going to it each year. It has some of the best Korean ford that we have ever had. If it didn't we would not be going to it year...
coming back to visit VA after being gone for far to long. Lived in Newport New for 7 years in the 80's and loved this restaurant. Am looking forward to being in VA again and eating at this restaurant again!
Love, love, love everything about it. Try the fried mandoo. It makes a great meal unto itself! But don't miss the spicy pork boolgogi.
They have delicious Korean pancakes with seafood! Yum!read full review »
My family eats here twice a month and we love it. The kimbap, fried mandoo, spicy pork bulgogi, and hot and spicy stir fry are the best. All of the "relishes" that come on the side are good, but my fav is the potatoes.
Just strait out good food
Because I'm spoiled by the Korean restaurants in NYC and in Northern VA, I was a tad bit disappointed with this restaurant. First of all, it was a 40 minute drive. Then when we get there, it took FOREVER for the ONLY waitress to get our drink orders. She was not very friendly, seemed to be in a rush and...
Typical Korean restaurant. Really bad stale tap water. Not a place that I'll go to again.
By far the best Korean food in the area!read full review »
I have lived in Newport News since the 80's and always passed by this place because of the location and the appearance. A few of my friends recently recommended the place so we decided to give it a try. I was amazed as the food was very good. I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi, with fried rice and mandu. It...

As one of the other reviewers noted it is pretty scary looking from the outside and the inside is a bit out of date as well, but the food and service more than makes up for it! Galbi is very good as…

We go to Kyung Sung one to two times a month. We never go on the weekend because even on weekday evenings the service is slow. The food is great so the restaurant usually becomes pretty crowded for dinner. However it seems that there is only 1 waitress who covers all the tables, answers the phone and covers the cash register so the service is ALWAYS really slow but we never wait more than 15...
My family and I have been eating there since the early 1980's. I first went when I was young and terrified of exotic foods. Beef Bulgogi quickly became my favorite dish along with the appetizer, Gim Bab. Over the years my sense of adventure has grown so that I can enjoy more of their extraordinary dishes like, Spicy Pork Bulgogi,...
I live in Portsmouth and my family and I always go to Kyung Sung to eat...
Had better food and service. Pricey for what it offers.
love love the food here...best on warwick! always fresh and the staff very friendly.
Kyung Sung aka "the korean house", as my friends and I call it is the BEST Korean resturant in Newport News. They have the BEST beef Bulgogi, kimchee, Bimbap, everything! If you are in the area you should def stop by and treat yourself!
After a wedding rehearsal we had some spare time so we loaded up our GPS and searched for a Korean Restaurant. Kyung Sung wasn't too far away so we checked out the reviews and saw that someone…

love the boolgogi
A wonderful place to dine if you enjoy Korean Cuisine. It is a small place to eat and rarely crowded. Great price for the amount of food you eat / purchase. Clean. They also have a larger dining area for banquets and larger crowds.
