We were in New York October 6-9 and spent two nights at the Wales. Same great service as before from Rosalyn and Felicia. The website is a bit deceiving as it looks much nicer online than in person. Keep in mind the hotel is over 100 years old but is in need of some updates with the amenities. Hotel Wales was charming, cozy, and unique. It has the perfect combination of historical fixtures and modern renovations and amenities. Interacting with the staff was a joy. The rooftop was an added bonus with great views of Central Park and the UES.
Small room with only a shower - no baths in any standard room. Wall unit a/c that was noisy. Only good thing about this hotel is the convenience at this location for parking, restaurants etc.
Hotel was fine once we resolved the check-in problem, where they attempted to change our room to one that our family did NOT fit into. Once that frustrating experience was resolved, we had a nice stay. The hotel is older, reminiscent of European hotels, with relatively smaller spaces and small elevators.
