This “beautiful” Wyndham in a historic South Loop building, decorated with dark woods and red accents throughout, is “good overall for the price” and offers perks such as free property-wide WiFi, “superb” in-room spa services and a “very helpful and friendly” staff; “modern” rooms have 12-ft. vaulted ceilings and city views, and guests can easily hoof it to Grant Park and State Street shopping.
A multimillion renovation a few years back updated this spacious landmark in Chicago's historic Printers Row neighborhood; the lobby is dark but welcoming, and the rooms, in a mix of browns, reds, and creams, are very large, considering the location. Choose a suite and you'll have a condo-size spread with fantastic views of downtown. It is ideal for business travelers who want to be near the...

The staff prides itself on service; guests shouldn't be surprised to be greeted by name. Three buildings make up the Hyatt (there are 161 rooms) and although it caters to...
Excellent staff and comfortable room. Had a great weekend.
Staff was great. Room very basic. Still good deal for the location.
we had a great time at the hotel. certain parts of the hotel need to be updated...like the Elevators, but in general, it was very nice.
Hotel Blake was created out of three older buildings in Print House Row. It's outer shell belies the modern, comfortable hotel inside. If you're into architecture, it's right there, a few minutes walk from some of the most historic early skyscrapers and the later art deco ones. It's also only 10-15 minutes walk from the Art Institute and the lake shore. Restaurant Meli, in the same building,...
Visiting relatives in Chicago & needed more comfortable bed. I love this hotel because its a smaller, more intimate, hotel and less crowded - and the service is amazing. The staff treats their guests like royalty. From the front desk to the doorman, the service sets this hotel apart from the rest. The front desk even called when we got to our room to make sure everything was satisfactory. ...
I used my points for my 5 day stay at the Hotel Blake during my professional conference in Chicago. I have to say, this hotel has the best gym (location, views, equipment, etc). The staff was very pleasant and helpful. My room accommodations were overall great. Beautiful bathroom, safe in the closet was very discretely placed and nice views from...
The staff were excellent, especially Tim and his partner on nights- very accommodating and he went out of his way to switch our room to be more comfortable. They are the epitome of excellence in customer satisfaction.
We hit the Hotel Blake after 10 days on the road and immediately enjoyed deep sleep, comfortable bed, complimentary bathrobes, and quiet, spacious room. We faced a brick wall, so no view, but also no street noise. Excellent location between Union Station, AIC, and El trains. Lovely staff.
First of all, the whole staff was excellent and friendly. The rooms are spacious with a flat screen tv, refrigerator and microwave. This hotel caters more towards business people based on its location and lack of pool makes it less family friendly. The Meli restaurant in the lobby has great food, but the wait on Saturday morning can be pretty...
My girlfriends and I went here for my birthday weekend. It was a surprise how good the location was to the things we wanted to do. The doorman rocked. Staff were very friendly. The hotel was updated and comfortable.
A wonderful place to stay. The staff at this hotel is the best of the best!!! This is our new home away from home!!! I can not give this hotel a higher rating!!!! Extremely warm and pleasant!!! Showtime what can I say, you are a breath of fresh air!! Thank you all for a wonderful weekend!!!

Blake Hotel is a short walk from the Blue Line LaSalle Station. The hotel staff is amazing! "Showtime" lived up to his reputation, but "Junior" (Greg?) was also great. Always mention where you are headed, as many discounts are available. We had room 503, which was large, with everything you could ask for. There was a small refrigerator, and a...
A friend and I recently visited Chicago and I'm so glad I chose Hotel Blake. Not only were our rooms really nice, but everyone was so friendly and very accommodating, especially the night concierge, Tim Howard. He was very helpful and watched out for my friend and I coming and going from the hotel. We really loved the food at...
My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Blake over Easter weekend. Our room was clean and comfortable. Beds were comfy too, only complaint is all feather pillows (I prefer foam.) It is close to a fire station and we heard a fire truck once during the night, otherwise it is pretty quiet for a downtown location. It is a...
Wife and I stayed here for a couple days this week on a spring break trip. We found this to be an exceptional place t stay. The hotel was very well kept, all the staff were very friendly and the room was great and very comfortable. Ray at the front desk was very helpful, friendly and really seemed to care...
Lovely rooms. Staff was accomodating and made us feel like we were the only guests in the Hotel. Looking forward to our next trip to Chicago and staying there. Ate at Meli Cafe, Loved it. Hotel is convenient walking distance to everything we wanted to do and see.
The Blake is an updated hotel in a remodeled building. We really enjoyed the our room, the staff, the quietness of the room, the location, and decor. The price was very reasonable so we weren't expecting it to be this nice. You have easy access to restaurants, the Mag Mile, the business district and the south loop. Most things are...
The staff was very helpful and easy to talk to. Room was comfortable and clean. I had the peace of mind knowing that if a cancellation was necessary I wouldn't loose all my money. Shopping on state street was such a short walk. We actually walked to Michigan Avenue a couple times.
We loved the Blake. From the moment we walked through the doors we were made to feel as if the staff existed just to help us. "Showtime", in particular, was great. From getting us an upgrade when he discovered it was our thirty-fourth anniversary to walking us down the street to show where Buddy Guy's Place was located, he could...
We were in Chicago for a concert at the Auditorium Theater and Hotel Blake was less than 3 blocks from the venue and close to several bus stops. It was also very easy to get to from O'Hare Airport using the Blue line L-Train ($10 roundtrip!). We got off at the LaSalle stop and only had to walk about 1.5...
Our accommodations were very good - clean, good amount of room, comfortable bed, etc. But the strength of the Hotel Blake is the staff. From the time we arrived until we checked out, the went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The valets and desk staff were welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.
The minute you arrive at the Blake you feel right at home! Showtime, the bellman is AWESOME! Need to know where to go, or where to eat go to him. He never steered us wrong. He was so wonderful to my boys! They couldn't wait to see him everyday! The staff is nothing short of great. Room was very clean...
Chicago for the weekend. Hotel Blake is an ideal spot. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, ready to be of service. The room is nice size and the beds are comfy. It is in a great location for walking to nearby shopping, museums, parks and great restaurants. Cait Smith is a jewel, sweet as can be. We give Show Time a...
Excellent hotel within walking distance of everything and only 3 minutes from the Blue Line. Extremely friendly and helpful receptions at check in. The restaurant called Meli is attached to the hotel and does a really great breakfast. We had stayed previously at the Essex Inn but would recommend the Blake. We had a really large comfortable King Bed. When...
Close to shopping, art museum, restaurants, colleges. Close to Michigan Avenue, Grant Park, Navy Peir, You will have plenty to see within walking distance. You will not be disappointed, as the rooms ar spacious & our room was recently renovated.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating! The bellman/concierge Michael Gamble was awesome! He could not have been nicer and arranged our transportation for us hassle free. His smile and great personality is one you will never forget! Highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The shower was amazing. Definitely will go back.
Stayed here with three girlfriends. We had a fantastic time. The location is perfect, everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. The hotel was clean, employees were wonderful, and the rooms spacious!
......from my daughter, granddaughter and son in law.
Very close to RMU Auditorium Theater for our concert.
Helpful staff. Clean, comfortable hotel. Awesome restaurant
We had a heat issue in our room that the staff addressed immediately. Beautiful room, huge window overlooking Dearborn and close to Grant Park! Had a great stay and will stay here again on our annual trip to Chicago!
Good location...everything was great and we will be back!
We stayed four nights for my daughter to visit two schools, SAIC and Columbia College. Nicely appointed hotel, great, friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room with refrigerator. Benefits included being close to CTA transit stations . Easy and inexpensive trip directly fro O'Hare to the LaSalle station a block and half from the hotel. Within walking distance to many restaurants and...
I landed in airport and didn't how to get to hotel. Called hotel and they gave me easy to follow instructions. Take The Blue Line train direct fr Airport. Hotel is 2 blocks south of the Blue Line train stop. Easy Peasy. Hotel is beautiful. Ok, so the toilet runs a bit too often. Staff is nice. Room Service is great, food arrives within 1/2 hr of ordering. Food is from restaurant next door. And...
I ended up at the Blake by accident many years ago and it has been so wonderful, when I'm headed to Chicago, I book the Blake before making any other plans
I booked this hotel because of its great reviews & I wasn't let down. The Hotel Blake from the outside looks like three old Printers Row buildings each with a different facade that have been converted into a hotel. I found this really interesting & from an architectural street view it certainly has character. So much nicer than your normal...
I enjoyed my short stay with hotel Blake.Staff was polite, loved the bellmen the most. Front desk staff very informative especially in the morning. Great location, easy to walk around and explore the city. I traveled here alone as my first visit to Chicago and enjoyed what the hotel had to offer. I also made great use of their business...
When we arrived for our week stay in Chicago we were greeted with "Welcome home!" It was a nice touch and over the week's time we did feel like we belonged. The room was spacious and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The weather varied from pleasant to cold, so when we didn't feel like going outside, we just...
We really enjoy the feel of a quiet boutique hotel in the midst of the Loop. Café Melli within the building has great food and drinks, and the hotel is surrounded by wonderful restaurants and pubs.
We paid double for a past stay at a Michigan Ave hotel where the room was old and shabby. If you wish to economize...
Hotel Blake is nicely located away from the more touristy hotel areas of Chicago so the experience is a bit more authentic and urban. Good vibe overall and service was great. After experiencing a dripping toilet, they were more than happy to move and upgrade me into a stunning corner room with great windows, ceiling heights and views of Congress...
Had a lovely time at the Hotel Blake. It is right in the loop location so we could walk to many attractions and feel safe. The room (premiere king) is spacious and clean. The bathroom is huge as is the stand-up shower. The bed was comfortable and we had several different pillow options to choose from.
The food in the...
This hotel is all about service. From the front desk, to the door man, to every single housekeeper I encountered. They are always smiling, wishing you a great day, responding quickly and efficiently to every request. They just make you feel (I feel corny saying this) at home. The room was large, clean and the bed AND pillows (usually I...
Stayed at the Blake for 1 ought while in town for a business conference. Excellent staff. The front desk was very helpful. Room was pretty nice. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I didn't have time to check out any other parts of the hotel, but where I was was good. I thought the price was good, but...
Me & my hubby enjoyed the stay for our first time in the downtown area. It wasn't expensive like i expected it to be. The view was nice, and the staff was pleasant. Hope to return on our next visit to chicago.
Clean and comfortable with a good staff. Convenient for my work location. Restaurant for room service was very fast and good food.
Room was spacious. Hotel was nice and quiet. Reasonable rate
I only spent one day/night, but I would visit this hotel again. I got to check in early - I really needed that since I had just walked around the city in the cold and gotten lost. The shower was a bit odd, but nothing that couldn't be worked out. The room was spacious and clean. The only thing that...
We were staying there because it was close to the U.S. Immigration Building where we were going for an interview. Only a 3 minute walk.
I loved the ambiance, the staff, the comfy bed, large bathroom! Everything was very clean and convenient. We were using our Bluegreen Vacation Club for the first time and I was ecstatic! We will be frequent visitors to Hotel Blake.
The rooms were clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful, but most of all I can't say enough wonderful things about the door man "Showtime". He not only did he do his duties as a door man with a smile and great attitude, he helped us save money on parking and pointed in the right direction when it was time...
We spent a few days in Chicago to celebrate our wedding anniversary and stayed at the Blake Hotel. We had never stayed there before-we always stayed at the Sheraton downtown. The Blake is our new getaway in Chicago! The room was excellent-comfortable, quiet and very clean. Our in room phone didn't work and it wasn't 2 minutes after we called the front...
Rooms were far roomier than I expected for a hotel in the heart of Chicago. Very modern rooms, great decor, and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect, blue line and red line are within 3 blocks. Staff very friendly, especially Showtime! He has a lot of knowledge of where to go and is extremely helpful. Will definitely...
Room was awesome, comfy bed and pillows! Staff was friendly. Must try the cucumber water in the lobby then ask Showtime what sight to see, where to eat ... He even checked in with us how or exploring was...? restraunt a must for breakfast "banana bread FRENCHTOAST"
Get the day pass for the L easy and will take you anywhere
Went to Chicago for extended weekend. Room was very spacious however dusty and bathroom was dirty. Bed was a bit too soft but that's a personal preference. Location was pretty great! Staff were absolutely wonderful!
This is the second time I've stayed at the Hotel Blake. Again the staff made the visit. Ray knew I was coming and allowed me to check in early. Way early. 8:30 in the morning early, which I really appreciated...at no additional charge.
The doorman gave us great advice on the best wY to get back to the hotel after...
Some things broke in my room, there was no microwave in my room, I was not told that it was available downstairs, the doorman was nicer than the staff. I was not told that there was complimentary coffee and tea available in the morning.
The bed sheets weren't changed daily.
On Valentine's Day weekend, my wife & I and another couple each had king size beds/rooms to ourselves. Place was very clean, comfy beds and a staff (Ray and Rachel from the morning shift) that all hotels should be envious of. They greeted us warmly when we checked in; let us check in as soon as the rooms were ready,...
First of all, if you care only about the room then I highly recommend this hotel. It's in the heart of Chicago, reasonably priced, and the bed is heavenly. All that being said I found the front desk to be appalling. When I asked the front desk about other parking (rather than the valet hotel parking) the patronizing expression on...
I stay at the Blake when I can stay in downtown Chicago. The location is great and has a "neighborhood" feel to it. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. The smart and intimate décor help give this hotel a real "coming home" feeling. I'll be back in June....save me a place, please!
This was my first time in Chicago. Hotel Blake was awesome. They are very friendly and bend over backwards to make sure you're taken care of. Very clean and nice. We went to Shedd aquarium and Field museum. $6-8 cab ride - or you can walk if weather permits. Meli cafe next door was excellent! This is now my go...
This is a great hotel. We have stayed here on multiple occasions. Once we drove and used the valet option where we were asked to park our car in an underground parking garage just a block away. There we left it for the weekend and utilized our bikes we brought to get around the city. The hotel was cool with...
This is an older hotel in the Printers Row area of the South Loop. The staff was fantastic from the doorman to the cleaning services. If you're going to Buddy Guy's Legends it's a quick walk. The room was big and noise wasn't an issue. The bathroom looked like it was recently updated but the door was damaged and should be replaced. The lamp shade in the room needed to be changed. It had...
Hotel was beautiful & comfortable. Staff was personable & helpful. Great location in the city. My only complaint is the lack of reasonably priced parking, but that may be an unfortunate setback because of the location.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend vacation to Chicago and we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious by Chicago standards and very comfortable. We looked forward to returning to our room each evening after long days of bouncing around Chicago. We slept well and there were never any sound issues. We would be happy to stay...
This was a weekend getaway and a pure delight! The hotel is conveniently located downtown, in walking distance to anything that you want to see or do. The adjoining restaurant is comfortable, with great food and service, and became our go-to place for a bite to eat. The staff was great. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. We would definitely return again without hesitation.
Customer Service here is awesome!
I had never heard of this hotel but was pleasantly surprised. It was refurbished with a beautiful (but small) lobby with great decor and nice flooring in the lobby and halls. It was like a smaller version of a 4 or 5 star hotel. We had a spacious room on the 3rd floor with large windows.(they called it a Deluxe...
Lots to do in the area, many places to eat within walking distance as well as a starbucks and several other coffee shops. Restaurants are everthing from fancy to great Chicago junk food. Several theaters close by also.
The hotel was great located in the heart of Downtown. I had a great stay the hotel service was great. I ordered room service and it was delicious. The hotel is a little hard to get too. I had to make serval loops around downtown till I could pull up to the valet to check in. Other thsan that great place to stay
Excellent location and restaurant.
Pleasant and comfortable.
Overall, my stay here was great. The room was very large with all the amenities I expect such as free (fast) wifi, a desk, a sitting chair, a nice TV, etc. The windows really made the room special: I had a corner room with huge windows looking out over the city. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet....
The staff treated us as guests in their home. All were very friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. We look forward to another stay at the Blake, We already booked a little pre-honeymoon getaway for a relative.
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Blake over Christmas. Maybe they were just filled with the spirit of the season, but we found everyone on the staff to be very friendly and helpful--especially with restaurant suggestions, since options on Christmas Day were pretty limited. The property is clean, pleasant, and well located. We walked to the Chicago Art...
Second time visiting and again very impressed with this hotel and it's staff. Micheal, Ron and Catlin and all the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only got to see "Showtime" for a moment but he's such a hoot. Love this hotel. This hotel is so centrally located to all the "L train lines" it can't be...
I had a job interview in Chicago and so I chose this hospital for its location and good reviews. I stayed there for 2 nights. Front desk staff was nice and welcoming and the hotel in general looks great. My room was very spacious, clean and I liked the view from my window. The downsides were: no fridge, or microwave, walls and doors were not soundproof, no breakfast and the cafe within the...
Been here before and love it. Nice area, easy access, and historic style hotel. Great value.
Nice hotel in downtown Chicago. Very friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable and a nice little gym.
Great staff - very comfortable room - restaurant good, but a little pricey
Airline cancellation got us there as a ladt minute reservation
Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.
It's close to everything of downtown Chicago.
The stay was great and as long as I can get the same or similar rate I will stay again as I visit Chicago 2x per month on business
This relatively small hotel is conveniently located within Chicago's Loop area with easy access via Blue Line from O'Haire Airport. Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and super clean room. Contiguous restaurant is convenient for breakfast and other meals. We were very pleased with location and service. Decidedly would stay here again..
We had a great time in the city this weekend and Hotel Blake made our stay even better. Located in Printer's Row, it was only a 10-15 minute walk to our destinations (CSO, Gene Siskel Film Center, the Bean, the tree & ice skating and a ton of different restaurants). One of the amenities that led to my choice to book with Hotel Blake was the queen-size beds (lots of Chicago hotels have doubles...
The room by far exceeded my expectations. It had high ceilings, comfortable beds and a huge bathroom with double sinks.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things about Hotel Blake.
I have stayed at a lot of hotels while visiting my brother who lives in Chicago and this will be my go to hotel.
I highly recommend breakfast at the Meli Cafe that is connected.
Nice boutique hotel with very friendly staff. The neighborhood is quiet and easy for parking and walking to the shops on State St. We were however, disappointed with the fitness room...it lacked yoga mats and had a very limited number of hand weights. It could be improved upon.
Beautiful hotel. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room is more than I expected and I expected a lot. Walking distance to everything.
It was in a good location. The bellman and staff were very good about helping with restaurants and getting around. Would stay there again
Awesome hotel and service.
Haft en underbar vecka i Chicago allt var toppen. En sak var fel det var lite kallt på rummet. Vi fick byta första natten det blev bättre men ändå kyligt.
Was over great location and hotel. My only reason for rating not all 5 is, I have stayed here previous, booked the Hotels.com and had to wait for our rooms...same thing again this time. I arrive at hotel at 8:30 am...knowing that check in wasn't until 3pm...but tried to check in ahead but of course nothing available yet. Had breakfast and took short walk, arrive back around 10 am...checked,...
I really liked the location of the hotel. I was visiting Chicago for Thanksgiving and to my surprise the area wasn't extremely busy. I got a sassy haircut at a salon right across the street from the hotel without having to wait.
The hotel staff were terrific, totally accommodating and friendly. They knew the Chicago area and gave several suggestions for dining and seeing attractions.
Nice hotel with a great staff (special shout out to Showtime) located close to downtown attractions and public transit. We flew into Midway and took the L to a convenient stop within 2 blocks of the hotel. Another nice amenity is the Meli Cafe. Thanks for a relaxing weekend.
My stay was great. The staff was incredibly friendly, and they gave me superb recommendations for food, drinks, and coffee. The hotel restaurant, Meli's, also had very good food and was very reasonably priced. The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the free wifi was quite speedy.
As a Starwood Preferred Guest (Starwood owns Westin, Le Meridien, etc.), that's usually my go to brand...
Worthy & quite well located! Very diligent staff and a nice restaurant.
friendly and helpful staff.
slept well.
Lots of good restaurants close by.
Pleasant hotel. Location is excellent for access to Downtown Chicago and Museums. Paid parking available a block away. Valet parking very expensive.
Room was a little small , but well furnished. Wi-Fi worked very well.
Whenever I am in Chicago I stay at the Blake. It is close to Union Station [6 blocks], the loop and El trains [1-2 blocks] the Lake [5 blocks] and perfectly adequate restaurants up the street in Printers Row. Staff is always great, rooms provide a great view. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.
The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is an older building, so there are stairs where you might not expect them, but the staff worked with me to get an appropriate room. They do have a few wheelchair accessible rooms with a barrier free shower, but I didn't need that type of accommodation. It's a convenient location a few blocks from the L and on a bus line.
The highlight of our stay was "Showtime" the concierge. He watched out for the two ladies from Alabama and even walked us to a restaurant to make sure we were safe. Turns out he was originally from Alabama as well. Hats off to a great big smile and wonderful personality.
Great hotel with a super helpful and friendly staff. Close to all the places we needed to be. And the food at the adjacent Meli Cafe was delicious. Next time we get back to the city, we'll definitely stay here!
Our stay at the Hotel Blake could not have been better. Cat, at the front desk was very helpful and everyone else was polite and friendly. The rooms are clean, quiet and very comfortable. It's close to subway and bus stops and if you need a cab they are right out front. It was our first stay, but I am sure we will be back.
I don't normally rate hotels but this place has the most friendly staff! Clean, nice rooms and great location.
The staff exceeded our expectations. Front desk, valet, and the famous greeter Michael made us feel welcome and insured that our next trip would include Hotel Blake.
I never feel the need to rate hotels I stay at, but Hotel Blake is an exception. It is my go-to hotel when I visit Chicago! The staff are super friendly, pricing is reasonable, and the rooms are nice and clean! I would suggest Hotel Blake to friends, family and strangers! Love it!
Had a decent stay at the Blake hotel. It wasn't anything too fancy, but also was decent priced. The staff was really nice and we got help a couple times to find a taxi. We stayed on the third floor so the traffic was pretty loud during the day but eased later at night. The bed was comfy. I didn't like that there was no fridge to put our leftover food in. There looked like some water damage in...
Great hotel, the proximity to the "L"stations is great, no more than 2 blocks to any color line. The staff was great and knowable and gave us great directions to everywhere we wanted to go useing not only the train but the buses also. Greg (Showtime) was a hoot, unexpected treat when going out for the evening. Will come back just for his enthusiasm . it's away from the hustle and bustle of...
Hotel Blake has one of the friendliest hotel staff that I've ever dealt with. Their doormen and front desk staff were very helpful and always had great suggestions for where to wine and dine in the city. Rooms were super clean as well. Overall, amazing experience and I would definitely stay there again.
We traveled from Detroit Michigan and with the snow made for a long drive there. When we arrived at Hotel Blake we were greeted right away by a gentleman whose personality was outstanding! We felt welcomed right from the start until we left! The hotel was beyond nice and everything was near by! I would recommend staying at this hotel to anyone and I will for sure be telling my friends about it...
The breakfast at Meli Cafe in the hotel was excellent. I would stay here again just for the breakfast!
It was great. Perfect location. Good price. Nice staff.
the staff was awesome!! Very helpful and cheerful!\n\njust a bit far of a drive from the stadium to go back and forth:
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
location\n\nOne of the switches on one of the lamps was broken\n\nOver all a very good exerience
nice and friendly staff. great location\n\nno\n\nawesome staff
The location is perfect.\n\nNo\n\nIt is a small and nice hotel.
proximity to resturants\n\nno\n\nvery pleasant small hotel. The only problem I can see that did not involve us at this time might have been the parking arrangements.
It was a perfect experience. Spacious rooms. Free wifi, friendly staff Only thing was I saw two cockroaches - very disgusting. Otherwise it would have been a totally perfect experience.
The layout and design of the rooms was actually okay. The food at the hotel restaurant was above average and reasonably priced. "Showtime" was entertaining.\n\nYes. The staff in the restaurant are clueless. Nice, but no idea how to wait on people, follow up on orders or provide bill; hallways dirty; noisy, even on 9th floor. Dumpster noise/garbage trucks started at 0430; valet less than...
Location was excellent Staff very helpful....they allow me to check in at 9 am instread standard 3 pm\n\nNA
The room I got was pretty spacious and has nice view.\n\nI found a BED BUG!! It scared the crap out of me as I was scared to bring the bed bugs home. I got a huge bite on my leg too. I report the problem to the hotel staff. They assigned me to another room but didn't offer anything further to compensate.
We were quite impressed with our stay at Hotel Blake. The perfect weather was just an added bonus. We were walking distance to many of the shops and just one train (blue line) from O'Hare. The staff were exceptional and most accommodating from the Matri'D to the front desk to the maids. Our 1st room was very small so we asked for a larger room which we were given promptly. It was clean and the...
Hotel is on walking distance from a lot famous places in Chicago. Stuff is helpful and friendly. Hotel is comfortable and clean.
I had a business meeting near this affordable boutique hotel. The room was very large and comfortable. I had a great view of Congress Parkway boulevard which has a lovely night view. The area is fairly quiet (which is my preference) but easily within walking distance from many area attractions like Grant Park and Willis (Sears) Tower. The Blue Line station (to/from O'Hare) is only a block and a...
The staff were great. The concierge was very knowledgable and helpful.\n\nNo fridge in the room
Front desk was friendly and courteous. Nearby train and 7-11 was convenient. Beds were VERY comfortable. Free Wi-Fi.\n\nAir conditioning is dependent on the hotel and the fan is worthless. It was very hot in our room. Person who came didn't know how to open the window and never returned with prop for window as promised. We used magazines.\n\nIt's a decent hotel but not for the price we paid and...
This hotel is located within blocks from major attractions and restaurants. The hallways and rooms are clean and do not smell. The rooms are big and have tall ceilings. It seemed like the space was wasted though. The staff was friendly and helpful. For those with cars: be ready to pay $30 overnight fee at neighboring parking, or hotel $47 valet parking. Overall, it was a nice stay!
The cleanliness was far above what I expected.\n\n1. The day shift staff was wonderful, but the night shift man at the front desk was rude and not very nice. 2. The a/c in my room didn't work and my room was a sauna.\n\nOverall the hotel was great and would recommend it. Very clean and nice hotel, but the elevators are very small and claustrophobic feeling. Tip: 1. Pay the $8.00 for WiFi with...
Nice high ceiling in the room. Good staff. Nice location. Free wifi.\n\nExtra charge for bottled water in the room. It was not made clear that there was an extra charge for this.
Showtime!!!! He is the bellman at the hotel and he makes you feel so welcomed. He told us where to go and how to get there, he walked across the street and got us appointments with the salon across the street. He made our stay very enjoyable!!!\n\nThe hotel is very nice, clean, friendly staff and great location!!
There was a nice big window in our room for enjoying the great view.\n\nThe shower wasn't my favorite because I think it may have been a handicap accessible room, which was not a necessity for us.\n\nThe restaurant next door provides room service. The breakfast was excellent! Nice portions too.
Bathrooms were spacious and the shower was perfect, lots of room, water temp and pressure were great and had a modern look feel to it.
location, restaurant\n\nthe day front desk people were not that friendly or helpful with information needed they were ok not outstanding\n\nthe evening front desk people excellent
Nice large room and bathroom.\n\nTraffic noise, siren noise, and dumpsters being emptied at 4:00 am. Could not control room temp., adjusted thermostat to 83 degrees and cold air kept blowing.
Our room was beautiful with a great view of Sears (Wilson) Tower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Really recommend this place!\n\nWe're really kind of a low-budget "Motel 6" type of family, but decided to splurge for once while in Chicago. We were not disappointed in any way-the room was bright and clean, with a rather luxurious bathroom. Every staff member we met was very friendly,...
This area is better for business travelers as the busier night life is more north of the river
Lots of additional reviews here: Some of them (including mine) were posted after the so-called renovations.
The staff are wonderful! Doorman named "Showtime" (it's on his nametag!) and Concierge named Eric made being away from home more bearable. Rooms are huge! Came back from meeting 2x to free champagne and chocolates in the lobby. Totally staying here again!\n\nClose to everything, knowledgeable staff, clean rooms.
Loved everything about The Blake. Staff was AMAZING and gave so many wonderful suggestions. Rooms were clean and great in size. Welcomed us with a glass of champagne. Great location, close to many great places to eat. Can walk anywhere.
Only staying in the city for one night to check out an apartment, I chose what looked like a too-good-to-be-true deal. Hotel Blake did not disappoint! Huge room, very friendly staff, and best value at a Chicago hotel. Will definitely be back.
Too cold in the room. Nothing they said they could do. No mirror coffee or cups til we asked. The staff at check I. We're great.
Location, near where I needed to be. Accessible for driving or public transportation.\n\nThey do not have their own parking.\n\nAn older building in "Printer's Row", Chicago. Nicely redone, clean rooms. Good size. Two blocks south of the loop.
The staffs are more than friendly and the hotel location is excellent for visitors to tour around downtown area.\n\nSince is located in downtown, it is kinda noisy during night.
They were very accomodating to us since our train was delayed.\n\nthe view was a brick wall... but for the price who cares\n\nexcellent neighborhood. I swear there were 2 7/11 stores within 2 blocks, a pharmacy several restaurants and bars. I felt really safe and the neighborhood was very clean...I would stay here again.
Great location in the South Loop near Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park.\n\nThe only way to drown out the loud noise outside was to blast the AC on high. This worked, but made the room pretty cold.\n\nGreat hotel for the location and price.
Very nice modern rooms in a great location\n\nNo\n\nThe hotel was just right for my girlfriend and I. We both liked the room and enjoyed being right in the middle of Printers row.
I was here for two nights following a conference. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The location was great. We were able to walk to lake and other landmarks.I had to leave very early from O'Hare so it was great to be do close to blue line. Check in and check out were super easy.
A beautiful hotel in heart of Chicago. My room was spacious with a spotless marble bathroom. The bed was ridiculously comfortable. The view was spectacular. I didn't want to leave!\n\nOur room had a wonderful view of the City. This was our second time at Hotel Blake. We will return!
Quaint charm (and convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, and clean, tastefully decorated rooms).\n\nNO\n\nHotel is a hidden gem.
Back tot he Blake after about a year. A very consistent hotel Great staff, easy to sign in, good restaurant and very comfortable room. Only complaint is the lack of easily accessible electrical plugs in the room-- a common problem for older hotels.
The bathroom was beautiful\n\nThere were stairs you had to use after getting off of the elevator to get to the room and I had a lot of luggage
location\n\nI was booked into a handicap room due to availablilty. Unfortunately, the shower allowed water all over the bathroom which created a hazard and my girlfriend slipped and fell. When I brought this to the attention of staff they did not address.
I appreciated that the hotel looked exactly like the pictures on the internet and that it was centrally located to the event that I was attending. The staff was very helpful and friendly.\n\nJesse, the bellman, left a lot to be desired. He could use some additional training, specifically in the area of problem solving and effective solutions. He has a list of excuses and ways he CAN NOT be...
location, atmosphere, furnishings\n\nroom was dusty, shower water only lukewarm
The bed was great, incredibly comfortable, tasteful decor, really quiet, friendly and helpful staff, and the location was wonderful, right near the museum. Our last morning there, we heard symphony music outside the window. Really lovely.\n\nThe room itself structurally less quaint thanI expected, more of a plain square, but the decor was really nice, and warmed it up. Also, we had a shower,...
Crime committed, hotel negligence, no security\n\nUpon checking completely alone, I received one key card from Corey at the front desk. Later that evening, my long-time boyfriend came to the room after work; In the morning waking up around 9:30 AM, my boyfriend informed me he had heard somebody messing with the lock which he had deadbolted that night and had found it ajar, thinking it was the...
location and staff\n\nwater was on the cold side.\n\nWe complained about the water temperature for the shower, and they offered a breakfast voucher and were polite and accommodating.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They really made me feel welcome.\n\nI would have like the elevators to have had card key access only.
Location was really good.
Show time and staff!
A little too far from downtown and no gym or pool facilities
The big clean rooms.\n\nDid not like how long it took for valet to get the car. One time we called down and supposively they called for the car but once we got down there, the bellman said he did not get the car. It took us almost 1 hr to get the car from the time it was called.
the spacious rooms and friendly staff
i wish we could have stayed longer
The noisiest hotel I have ever been! Day and night.
Very friendly, helpful desk staff. Same for doormen. Great view. Very good restaurant in building. Proximity to Millennium Park and Museum Campus.
Two years ago there was a continental breakfast in lobby. Now only coffee and tea.
We loved that staff especially showtime he was awesome.
Nice restaurant Helpful & friendly staff
Hotel staff are very friendly and the room are excellent clean.
I have stayed at the Blake 4 times now. Excellent location and now the restaurant next door is fabulous.
All was good. One person at the front desk wasn't very helpful but could have just been an off day for her. Everyone else was very friendly.
The staff was very welcoming, and the lobby and room were clean and attractive.\n\nThe bathroom was so small that the toilet jutted out too far for the door to open the whole way! Shower water was just barely warm enough to make taking a shower not miserable. Only one very slow elevator, of two, worked, for the full time we were there.\n\nI wanted to love this hotel; it's attractive, the price...
Everething, very good hotel.
Noise from neighbors, you hear everething that happens in corridor.
location was perfect - great staff - the Doorman Gregory is just too funny!!
waiter is very helpful
the air conditioner is too too noisy...
I liked everything about it...Location etc...
We arrived in Chicago via Amtrak, and wanted to be able to walk to our hotel, and then walk to Millennium Park and the museum campus. The Blake was perfect for this, and also very close to the red line for zipping up to the theater district, and Michigan Avenue shops and restaurants. Only problem with the hotel was the shower, which is important when you're doing a lot of walking on a vacation!...
Great location south of the loop. Staff worked really hard to recommend places to eat. The climate controller worked great! Great view of Harold Washington Library out our window!\n\nIt would have cost--- to get a cot for our kiddo :( Hallways could have been less dusty.\n\nI'd wished for the price that a continental breakfast would have been included.
The shower head was terrible! It took forever to rinse your hair out if you hair is long. Also, the mattress was very uncomfortable
Air vent very noisy. I could get any sleep.Dirty and clogged shower. I changed hotel after first night
Lot of minor cosmetic things, they made the hotel not living by the standards "luxury".
Good power shower
Room given to me was not that one I booked and I have to point it out next day for a refund.
The staff was great, the room very comfortable. Overall a good experience, I would stay there again and would recommend it.
The room was pretty nice.\n\nThe noise was awful. The rooms aren't sound proofed very well. I was woken up 3 times during the night by loud, drunk people in the hall. The desk said they had a lot of complaints, but didn't manage to stop the noise.
Doorman "Showtime" was terrific. Even helped us park in drop off lane by stopping traffic. Nice sized room. Updated, clean, comfy bed. Free WiFi. Welcoming front desk staff. Food in restaurant was great.
Great location, close to CTA (metro) stations (Blue and Red Line) and walking distance to Millenium Park. Seven Eleven and CVA stores very near. Big and comfortable rooms.
The price, sleeping in Chicago’s downtown is really expensive in general.
Lovely hotel, would stay again. Already recommended it to a lady while travelling on the train.
Very convenient location for the Auditorium Theater and for Macys.
Friendly, prompt service, especially from doorman named Showtime.
Excellent restaurant connected to hotel.
We had to turn the heat off because the room was too warm.
The bellman was really chipper. He made the stay an excellent one. Who wouldnt love to smile. Thank you Showtime
The room and bath room was really small. The bed squeaked every time you got up. The pillow cases were dirty. I won't be back
The price and the location.\n\nMy room did not have an alarm clock. One of the telephone handsets did not work and some of the tv channels were not coming in without distortion.
Everything was beyond wonderful at hotel blake. The restaurant, staff, safe and convienient location in the south loup, clean and comfortable rooms! It was the best hotel experience I have ever had. It will definitely be where we stay when we go to Chicago in the future. Bravo!
Very nice rooms and lobby, very helpful staff. Showtime was especially helpful.
Very friendly staff. Room was comfortable and clean. Loved having the free wi-fi. Have a friend going to The Blake in a few days and she was happy to hear it's a great place to stay. Location to the El was very convenient.
Small hotel feel, great staff, the doorman aka Showtime is a legend!!
Bar/cafe a little soulless, but you only have to cross the road for a better option..
The heater fan sound is loud
Loved the size of the room.
convenient location\n\nshower was uncomfortable, and floor got too wet.\n\nstaff was very friendly.
Loved Showtime!
Everything was wonderful. I was treated well and with respect. All in all a very nice experience, especially considering it was snowy and cold, the staff kept smiling and were there for all my questions and needs.
One of the doormen was very nice but I think He needs to tone down his approach a bit. He was too over the top at times. not in a bad way though.
Very good location right in the center and near to the metro (blue line to the airport). Fantastic facilities, very big and comfort room and bathroom.
free wi-fi
no breakfast included
Excellent experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was incredibly spacious and clean. Since most of our plans were in the South Loop the hotel location was perfect for our stay. The Meli cafe was also excellent.\n\nA minor complaint, the design of the shower was needlessly difficult to use. It was impossible to turn on and adjust the shower temperature without being under...
Located in the South Loop, Hotel Blake is a nice mid-sized hotel that has all your needs covered, and offers good proximity to downtown while avoiding the worst of its congestion. The lobby area has a nice color balance of white floors and black walls, and there’s a long and narrow bar that’s also a decent place to score a dry martini. The old-timer tending bar was sharply dressed with a bow...
Very friendly staff and the size of the room and cleanliness.\n\nBathroom - no bathtub and cold shower in the morning
The staff was very professional. The doorman(Showtime) kept us laughing. Very clean and quiet. Would definitely book again.
I thought that there could've been a breakfast bar.
Location. Friendly staff. Bed was best ever.Free printing in bus ctr
Business center computer did. not have Microsoft Office.
Location near the Jackson metro line and near numerous restaurants and convenience stores was excellent. Wireless internet was excellent. Nice large and comfortable room.
We could not close blinds , broken string.
Perfect location. All staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is very big and comfortable. But the heating system was a little noisy. Noise from other rooms was a little clear.
The heating system was a little noisy. Noise from other rooms was a little clear.
great bed
all was fine
The staff was friendly and the rooms were huge.\n\nthe makeshift bar\n\nI would stay here again. The hospitality was amazing.
I liked my stay. The staff was nice and helpful and the bed is big and comfortable. I will definitely go back!
This is a nice hotel, recently renovated. The lobby is sleek, full of dark wood and saturated colors. The rooms echo this decor and are fully stocked with all the amenities you might need: safe, hairdryer, coffee maker, iPod alarm clocks, free wifi. The Meli Cafe comes very highly recommended by the friendly and helpful staff.
This is also an excellent location, just steps from the Blue Line...
The staff are great people. I've stayed here a few times, and they have always been helpful, especially the doormen.
Good location.
Comfortable bed.
The showers are awkward. They are walk in showers, with only half of the step in doorway part covered, and its the half nearest the on/off dial, so you have to reach in, through the water to turn it off, which scalds the heck out of you.
The...
The bed was amazing!!!
It was great!!
The room was nice and clean, very spacious. Big and comfortable bed. The
staff was very nice and polite. The wifi was also very good, I have
never been to a hotel with a better internet connection. Would stay here
again for sure.
The location.
I want that shower!
Little tiny piece of wallpaper got snagged and it wasn't fixed. I
notice little things like that after working for a painting contractor
and I can't forget about them. Loved it otherwise.
The Blake is ideally located in dowtown Chicago, 1 1/2 blocks away from the LaSalle Blue-Line exit. It is a 45 minute train ride that costs $5, opposed to congested traffic and who knows how much the bill will be. Clean, comfortable, and with a restaurant attached that set a new high-water mark for my wife and I. My wife has Celiac disease and the gluten-free menu at "Meli" is the best we...
Amazing decor, amazing staff, and the pool the pool the pool!!
location
Horrible smell in room
Stairs on the room level
convenient and effortless. a great value and location. nice large rooms and high ceilings..
Friendly staff. They are one of the few hotels that allows guests to book at age 18. As long as you are respectful and mature they will treat you very well. It is a very nice place so they probably wouldn't appreciate teenagers there making all sorts of noise. I was very pleased with the treatment I received from the staff. As long as you act respectful and responsible, they will treat you that...
Everything was absolutely wonderful at Wyndham Blake, Chicago. This hotel made my first visit to Chicago spectacular. The location is great, a metro blue line stop around the corner, Starbucks, and CVS pharmacy feet away from the building. Wyndham Blake hotel staff and facilities were outstanding for the affordable prices they have. Very helpful concierge and clean rooms with fairly comfortable...
Staff were excellent and extremely helpful.
Could do with a small snug area to 'hang out' on the reception area or ground floor.
Dear sirs, I would like to inform you that Our customer Dr. Seham who goes to USA to attend RSNA her check in was in 30/11/2013 and she supposed to check out in the same date but she hold out her stay in this hotel because she cannot stay with no restaurant or even room service to offer any hot/cold drinks or anything else on my account . so she found this situation is very difficult to her to...
Very nice and kind staff
Noisy air conditioning fan, too noisy.
No restaurant.
Rooms look much nicer online than in reality.Cable went out for half a day, no valet parking at night but the location was close a lot of the universities and restaurants.
The stay was very comfortable, staff very helpful, and extremely handy to everything I wanted to walk to including downtown and the CTA train to and from O'Hare airport.
Everyone at the Wyndham Blake was so polite and made sure to offer the best rates for staying at their hotel. Multiple people were working the desk and they all made it a priority to give me a smile and a hello upon arrival.
While the interior is extremely nice as well, my favorite part of the hotel is the intricate exterior of the 19th-century Morton and Duplicator buildings it resides in.
...
Great location on Printers Row, and the sleeping area was nice and comfortable. However, the bathroom was in serious need of renovation. Water squirted out the side of the spigot in the bathroom sink. Toilet was on its last legs and the tank had a top that did not fit the equipment at all. The off switch on the hair dryer did not work and had to press the button on the plug to get it to shut...
Assigned us to a handicapped room. How did this happen? The bathroom did not have a tub worse yet it had a shower (handicapped) which allowed the water from the shower to flood the entire bathroom which caused my wife to sprain her ankle as the entire bathroom floor was wet. We tried to change rooms but the room offered was not satisfactory and they did not have another. Parking was $47/day if...
The Blake is a nice hotel with a convenient location in the south loop. Great staff and good restaurant. But the rooms are showing their age. Tables and hangers with paint flaking off. Cracks in tile floor. Needs updating.
I wasn't psyched about the first room so they put me in a different room right away. Staff was friendly and accommodating to my needs. I would stay here again.
This hotel was clean and quiet. It was conveniently located near Columbia College and many great Chicago sites. The staff was very accommodating. Our room had a lovely view of the Chicago skyline. We will certainly stay there again and I can't say the same about another hotel in the area where we stayed a few months back.
When we arrived, all the hotel staff were extremely friendly and gave us advice on what to see, what to do, and where to go. Our room was extremely clean and had every amenity that you would need for a short stay. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, so besides the sounds one normally hears in Chicago (honking horns and sirens) we all slept really well.We were there to see the main...
We were greeted very pleasantly by the staff, upon arrival and everyday. I requested a quiet room and it was quiet except for the last day when construction involving large noisy machines began on the building next door at 7:30am. Perhaps the hotel didn't realize this was going to happen, but should have warned the guests if they knew about it. The chair in the room was very dirty and needed to...
This is a very nice hotel with very high ceilings. There are fancy spa showers and gorgeous tile floors in the bathrooms. Geno’s East delivers to your room, and if you stay on the east side, you have a great view of the Harold Washington Library and it’s what-I-think-are-gargoyles. Modern architecture, go figure. There’s an awesome fitness center, and if the spa shower wasn’t enough, there’s...
The front desk was friendly and accommodated us with an early check-in. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It is very close to millinium park and the south loop. I would stay here again.
Great for parents of students at Columbia, DePaul, and Robert Morris Universities.
I took the L from O'Hare to the hotel. It was well-located and easy to find, but I expected it to be more upscale based on the photos from the website. The hotel staff was courteous and friendly upon check-in. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. My room was much smaller than I expected and had a lovely view of the brick wall of the building next door. The hotel is within walking...
Very responsive staff; friendly, helpful and very upbeat. I love the styling of the hotel, an older building but beautifully updated. I've stayed at the Wyndham Blake a number of times and never been disappointed.
We liked the old feel of the hotel. The rooms were spacious and tidy. Doorman (Showtime) was great with suggestions for dining and shows.
My boyfriend planned a nice trip to Chicago for the weekend. He wanted to stay somewhere nicer than we had stayed previously, so he researched several "luxury" hotels, including this hotel. The pictures and descriptions on their website made this hotel seem like a great stay. However, once we got there, we were instantly disappointed. The valet service was a joke- we waited for a very long time...
My significant other and I decided to stay in Chicago this weekend for Easter weekend to get some rest and relaxation. We were stuck between a hotel located right on Michigan Avenue and the Wyndham Blake Hotel. I must tell you that we definitely made the right decision by choosing the Wyndham for our stay. We took the Metra into the city and only had to make a 10 minute trek to the hotel which...
My favorite place to stay in Chicago, very nice.
Received a last minute hotel in the area. The staff was great, we arrived very early in the morning and were lucky enough that they had a room available for us. Downside was when we first booked the room, the information we saw said there was a full breakfast. When we got to the hotel, the breakfast was only bagels and coffee and was $9 per person! Definitely not worth it considering all the...
the hotel was quiet, clean and nicely appointed for the price
Quaint and charming, the hotel currently does not have an inhouse restaurant. BUT-- we were pleasantly surprised that we could get 'room service' from the restaurant across the street...Gino's. The staff was superb in friendliness, help in sending us to neat neighborhood restaurants, responding to our calls, catching cabs, making suggestions, etc. We felt 'right at home'. We would definitely...
The hotel was great! It was a steal on a travel website. and our experience was great. The staff helped us get to and from our destinations and always had a cab waiting outside the hotel. Each staff member went out of his or her way to make sure we had an exceptional stay. One employee "showtime" was far and away the most friendly employee at any hotel I've ever been to. My only complaint was...
Very beautiful hotel, great staff, great restaurant/bar, comfortable beds, early check in (to a handicapped room), great continental breakfast (pasteries, fruit, coffee, tea), pizza & library across the street, Panera 2 blocks away. BUT The room did not have a desk or office chair, was cramped with 2 king beds, the clock and both lamps were unplugged, I found a huge amount of debris and a...
I was surprised by the size of the rooms in comparison to the penthouse suite at the Hard Rock Hotel is amazing. And for the rate I paid I was very taken by the comfort, location and ammenites provided.
staff was very friendly and helpful. room was very spacious, comfortable, and warm. it was conveniently located near the expressways and public transportation.
Only 3 blockssouth of Board of Trade in south Loop in refurbished building with everything necessary. Good value, friendly people, comfortable bed.
This hotel literally smells. Our first room was handicap accessible. We didn't need this, but were okay with it... Until we used the dingy/moldy shower. The water flooded from the shower to the rest of the bathroom. It continued to run into our hallway, and finally, the hotel hallway. After bringing this up with the front desk, they promptly switched our room and upgraded us.The rooms were humid...
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night after going to see the Book of Mormon at the Bank of America theater. The location was pretty good, as it is only a short cab ride from the theater district and we saved some cash not having to cab too far. Everything about the room was fine when I walked in to the room. I unloaded my bags and the bed seemed comfortable and clean. HOWEVER,...
The room was clean, which it should have been. Paint was chipping off the wall. There was no view from my room, whatsoever. No restaurant in the hotel which was disappointing. However, the bed was nice, as was the shower. But for a hotel in Chicago, I expected better.
The hotel was only a few city blocks away from the major attractions including the Willis tower, Shedd aquarium and planatarium. There is a Starbucks across the street and Potbellys and Panera Bread nearby .The staff was extraordinary. They greeted each time we came and left and Gary helped us hail a cab for a late night date. Whitney at the front desk was extremely helpful and gave us some...
Staff was excellent. We stayed here on our 1-year anniversary, and would love to stay here again. The room was HUGE, and we loved it! Staff was very friendly and accommodating.Location is perfect! We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. When we left, we only had to walk a short distance to catch the Orange 'L' train back to the airport. SUPER CONVENIENT!If we *had* to complain about...
Hotel really off the beaten path. No room service and no TV options. Not a great place to bring kids.
Very nice hotel. Staff was great. Very accommodating. Parking was $44 a night! Ouch!
I think I misbooked as this hotel is clearly meant for the business traveler. The work-out room/spa includes the former but not the latter (very disappointing - the workout room was okay and very clean); 24/7 business center but the room was small, although comfortable, there is no complimentary breakfast and ice is 10 floors away. The room was also not well soundproofed and being right next to...
Wyndham offers a supervised Kids Club where kids will enjoy age-appropriate activities while parents enjoy some time alone. In addition,...
It was very nice the night bell man was great at recomending places to eat
The room was very comfortable and clean.Somewhat limited TV channels.Price was a little on the high side, but that might be just Chicago.
Everything was great.......the staff......the room.....the housekeeping......the porters.......the concierge...... we will definitely stay here again.........
Nice hotel - welcoming, informative and helpful staff. Friendly and courteous. Great location to L, bus and Michigan Avenue. Planning another trip back and will stay there.
This hotel was far from what you'd expect in Chicago Loop. Room was dusty, dingy, and needed repairs to shower drain, paint, and TV. Wi-Fi was slow at times.Couldn't even get a cup of coffee with half and half. Only non dairy creamer available. When we finally were able to leave there was one cart available and the bellman was no where to be found. It was 9:00 AM on Sunday. A peak check out...
Overall this hotel was quite nice for the money. My average nightly rate was around $160. The location was great, it is a short walk to the CTA loop stations. Michigan Avenue is also just a couple blocks east. The room had very high ceilings and ours came with his/her sinks and a shower stall only (no tub). The couch in the room was nice for having friends over although it looked like it had...
I definitely recommend the hotel. Not a bargain but reasonably priced. Very decent rooms and friendly and helpful staff. And the location is unbeatable. Every attraction I wanted to visit is either at walking distance or by public transportation easily reachable. For example, it took me only 40min by train to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright houses and office at Oak Park.
I don't recommend, they had problems with our room, I booked on hotels.com for two doubles and they gave me two singles took a day to get an extra bed. They charged us twice on check out, still not settled, a pain dealing with, although staff was nice. Nice location
I stay here all the time. really big rooms, cool neighborhood and easy access to all areas. Staff is so great.
Hotel looked good, excellent location for us, 2 blocks from the blue line ( 45 minutes to /from Chicago O'hare airport); and 2 blocks from our son's appartment ..jsut outside the loop, within walking distance to the Willis Tower, Grant Park., Library; in Printers Row, with some local restaurants nearby; the restaurant attached to the Hotel, Capitol something, was excellent, though a bit...
I reserved a room for this weekend for a workshop I was to attend....when I got to the hotel on a very cold Chicago day, after walking the half mile, the front desk told me the hotel had had a fire and could … I reserved a room for this weekend for a workshop I was to attend....when I got to the hotel on a very cold Chicago day, after walking the half mile, the front desk told me the hotel had...
The Wyndham Blake is a solid three and a half out of five, but I'm tacking on an extra half star just for their doorman, Showtime. More on him later.I arrived on a Saturday, sick as a dog after being…
We got a great deal on Priceline for this hotel on a Sunday night. It is in a great location, the desk staff and bell hop are VERY helpful. The rooms are good-- very comfortable and clean. The only…
This is a solid hotel. It's nothing crazy fancy and the pictures on the website make the rooms look nicer than they are. I did like the high ceilings in the rooms which made them feel much bigger.…
I really liked this hotel. The rates were reasonable for a downtown Chicago hotel. Convenient, close to the train stops. Really nice rooms, spacious with very comfy beds. Free wifi and breakfast in the bar … I really liked this hotel. The rates were reasonable for a downtown Chicago hotel. Convenient, close to the train stops. I would recommend to others.Room was very clean except some mold in corner of shower.I thought it was a great value for a downtown hotel.
We wanted to share our experience at the Blake Hotel with others - we absolutely LOVED it! The hotel staff was very nice and especially helpful at check-in. The doorman was a breath of fresh air as he recommended restaurants, things to do and even the train to get to the airport instead of taking a taxi! Our room was standard with a fabulous shower with a large rain-like shower head. You...
I would not recommend this hotel for a romantic get-a-way or to out of towners going to Chicago for a fun weekend. If you are going for business or your mate put you out of the house, The Blake is ok, you would have to eat out everyday and don't bring back left overs. The room decor is nice but could be a little more cleaner (dusty). I've never been to a hotel that didn't have at least a...

I was relocating back to Chicago and needed a place to live while hunting for a loft with my agent. They were more than accommodating with a rate for long term stay. Every wish was granted. The management is incredible. The staff and front desk is equally as amazing. I felt at home and was treated like so. I would go back west on the weekends and they would reserve my room for my sunday return so that I had some consistency in living in Chicago. Ive stayed at a Ritz Carlton property many times many locations and this was like a mini Ritz to me. I have referred friends who have come...

THIS HOTEL IS NOW the BLAKE. It hasn't been the HYATT for a few years.
Room was spacious, clean & nice decor. It could use more lighting.
Free WiFi a Plus.
Staff was Friendly..but knew little about the area..I learned more about ""whats in area"" on the internet.
Hotel doesn't have a ""real"" concierge.
Hotel advertises ""Robes & Newspaper provided""..I didn't see them??
No turn down service offered.
Guest Elevator didn't always work. Would have to use Service Elevator .
Across the street is Subway , Taco Bell & Starbucks.
We liked the ""PotBellys"" right next door. Great...

You say that it should be reported, but who better to report it than you if you have had the experience of having your credit card padded? What a lousy experience, isn't it, when all we want to do is spend a peaceful night at a hotel?
The workers have attitudes. They also fight with the guest. Workers also pad the credit card bill without the customer's knowledge. They should be reported to BBB better business bureau. The shower is the worst I have ever seen.
Surprising new find in the Loop = great rooms - large, nicely furnished, quiet. Located close to financial and museum districts in the loop.
We booked for an in-town anniversary weekend. We were very excited as the place looks phenomenal on the website. The room we were checked into was a disaster. It had been cleaned, but obviously needed to be worked over by engineering. It looked like there had been a party in the room. Pillows were torn. The toilet paper dispense and one of the fire sprinklers were missing. The drapes were half off the track. The front desk staff was very accomodating and moved us immediately to another room. The new room was beautiful, though there is almost no storage space other than the closet. ...

Just out of the Loop craziness, this business-friendly hotel makes service a priority. – The SceneThe staff prides itself on service; guests shouldn't be surprised to be greeted by name. Three buildings make up the Hyatt (there are 161 rooms) and although it caters to serious business travelers, it's not a convention hotel. Meeting spaces are limited to five rooms, with the largest capacity being 50. The Hyatt's unique building configuration creates wide, irregular hallways. With just six rooms on the Business Plan floors, the feel is more of a small apartment building than of a hotel. The...

We were visiting Chicago for the weekend and were not expecting much out of the hotel, but when we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the great location and beatiful rooms. The computers were down for the weekend, but the staff still handled everything smoothly. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

If you are a tourist and want ot stay in the heart of Chicago, this is an excellent choice. Although there is not a lake view from the hotel, tourists don't travel somewhere to sit in a hotel room. The amenities are probably spartan compared to some other nearby hotels, but is clean and located close to several attractions as well as the ""El"" which can take you anywhere you wish to go.
