I went here for my birthday, and it was a great experience. The waitstaff was so well informed and professional. The sangria was the best i've ever had. The seafood special was not my favorite, but I will definately be back!
I really like the food, although prices keep creeping up and will soon not be worth it. Definitely for a younger crowd.
Overall the food was very good, but when i asked to speak with a manager to see what the specific ingredients were for my tuna dish, i was snuffed off by the waiter. We go to Hot Tuna 2-3 times a month. We especially like Wednesday night for their happy hour and tapas menu. Food and service is always good. Manager is always on top of things. Love the new decor!
The highly touted cedar plank seafood tasted more like cedar than seafood. Less than average meals at very high prices.
The seafood (oysters and tuna) were quite good. The wine (which was poor) was over-priced, but that's not really a surprise.
The atmosphere was nice enough, but the clientele was difficult to pin down. My best guess is it's an after-work hangout for late-20- and early-30-somethings. Feel free to stop by anytime, however.
Staff friendly and attentive. Rarely have ever had an issue with a plate in probably 50 visits over the years. And if there has ever been a problem it was promptly resolved. If you come for happy hour, get there early as the place fills quickly.

We drove from Newport News with a 7pm reservation. When we arrived about 6:15, The guys at the front desk sat us immediately.Our waitress, Rihannon was very attentive and no matter how busy the dinning room was, she was fun!

We have eaten at HotTuna several times and it is always worth the drive.

Wonderful restaurant terrific seafood and special creations like the crab- green tomato stack. We have never had a bad meal there. It is the first place we go to when visiting VB. Staff is outstanding as well. Love it!

I read online that if you visited Virginia Beach, to make sure you go to Hot Tuna's and get their famous fish taco. I did and was well pleased. It was a tortialla with lettuce, tomato, fried fish pieces, and an incredible baja sauce.
