All the reviews posted are very old. While Dr. Jones is the best, currently, he works on a limited schedule, maybe one day a week. If you have dire situation, don't let them ""work"" your pet in. They made my 17 year old nephew wait 2 1/2 hours to get in while my cat had not eaten in 3 days and was limp. I had talked to the female vet we were working with earlier in the day and she told us to have him brought in, because not eating for 3 days could cause liver failure in cats! So, they finally see my nephew at quarter to five, only to be told to take him to the ER as they were closing. They...

I love Dr. Jones and Dr. Fig. They are the most compassionate people I've run across in Va Bch! Their staff is wonderful as well. We had to put our beloved dog Harley to sleep and they let our whole family come in and lay on the floor to say goodbye. They gave us all the time we needed. A week after we put him to sleep we received a lovely condolence card with notes from the whole staff. I never write reviews but created an account with city search just to let people know that if you're looking for an outstanding Vet practice that goes above and beyond, this is it. Thank you again...

Dr. Jones is the best vet I have EVER had. He is so caring and sweet to my animals, and takes the time to explain everything. I will agree with another poster to specifically ask for Dr. Jones because the other vet isn't nearly as knowledgeable. Also, we used to love Emily's perky demeanor, but since she left, a new girl has taken her place and is kind of a dingbat (not professional on the phone, double booking appointments, etc).

And yes, the hours are pretty weird but at the same time they are very flexible so I don't mind it so much.

Bottom line: Dr. Jones is one of the best vets out...

Good and Not so Good

I have been using them for 4 years. While Dr. Jones is a good vet, there is a lady vet that subbed for him once that I will decline in the future.
The biggest difficulty though, is their hours. I never can keep up with when they are open because they open and close at different times each day - not consistent M-F or anything, and additionally they close down in the middle of every day for more than an hour.

The Best Vet in Tidewater

The best veterinary clinic I have ever dealt with. Dr. Jones is a saint. We picked up a very sick stray cat over 10 years ago. Dr. Jones went far above and beyond to save him, and he's still with us. Everyone in the practice is knowledgeable, friendly and very gentle with the animals and humans alike. I can't recommend them highly enough.

+ Everything about them is wonderful.

Cons

- Nothing. Not a single complaint in 10+ years.

I love these guys. Every time I take my dog there they are friendly and very knowleddgeable. Almost every time I describe what is wrong with my dog the vet almost immediately knows what is wrong with him. Better yet he sits with you show you literature to assure you your pet has been properly diagnosed and is being properly treated.
I would definitely put this vet on your list of ones to check out if you are looking for one. I doubt you'll be disappointed that you did.
