Editorial reviews from the web (1)

"Spicy", "complex" Nepalese-Indian fare is "served with love" via "friendly" sherpas who guide diners through the "adventurous menu" at this eatery "right in the thick of things" in Adams Morgan (with a new Bethesda branch); the "cozy" space has a Himalayan lodge feel, which, with "reasonable" tabs, brings folks back "over and over."

Hubby was looking for someplace to have a meaty meal after picking up wine from local wine club. We settled on Himalayan Heritage a small restaurant toned on a side street info Bethesda. We were early for dinner 6ish. The restaurant was mostly empty so...

Freshly Prepared Good Food

We waited a while for our food but, when it came, we knew why. Everything was absolutely fresh. The bread basket was, perhaps, the best we've ever had in an Indian restaurant. The portions were large and spiced exactly as we asked them to be...

On a Sunday afternoon there was nobody in the restaurant and we got super attentive service! I have many dietary restrictions and the waiter was wonderful at accommodating me. I ended up with an extremely flavorful salmon tikka, and my guest had goat curry that she loved. The portions were big and they graciously wrapped everything to take home. Plain, quiet place - definitely non-trendy; high...

Himalayan Heritage is a lovely small restaurant with very good Indian and Nepal food, and a very friendly attentive staff. I love going there.

A friend and I wanted an early dinner and were delighted to find an excellent restaurant in the Bethesda area, a little off the beaten track, with wonderful food and a menu that included some exotic Himalayan dishes along with great Indian food. We came early, so it was very quiet. Both of us plan to cone again.

Really good momos and samosas! We come here a few times a year, and the food is always delicious.

I don't usually trust an empty restaurant but the food was very good. They were able to meet my dietary restrictions although the wait staff didn't seem too knowledgeable about the gluten free options. The food was very good though and I would definitely return.

Wanted to really like this place and it could be so much better if they had more servers/staff. The ones we had (they seem to rotate among the tables) were all very nice and helpful but there were problems with service throughout the meal. (items ordered, never served, etc). This was not because they weren't good -- they were just overwhelmed (restaurant was full). The food itself -- mixed...

The service was very attentive, but the food lacked spice. The starter salad (spinach chaat) was delicious. But the butter chicken and yellow dal were bland.

An Oasis of Calm and Good Food in Busy Bethesda

Himalayan Heritage has delicious food from a variety of cuisines - Indian, Nepalese and Himalayan. This is a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends - leave plenty of time to enjoy this restaurant as the food is prepared fresh and this takes a little while. Everything is well worth the wait! What do I recommend? The goat curry, the cauliflower appetizer, the 'momo' dumplings (chicken...

Good selection of India food, both the expected standards and more unusual items. Food was well prepared and very tasty. The television at the bar (set to CNN) was fairly loud and somewhat annoying, and detracted from the overall experience.

So many of the Indian restaurants in our area offer the same type of dishes, but this was a wonderful exception. There were so many unique dishes in every section of the menu, and flavors (starting with the amuse buche featuring edamame andpuffed rice) were completely new to me. The Buddha Delight was one of tastiest vegetarian dishes I've ever had! I can't wait to go back and try their lunch...

The primary difficulty was with the service - or lack thereof. The servers had some difficulty understanding us, with the result that plates came we had not ordered, or two plates came when one had been ordered. Service was very slow, considering that we initially were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered wine and when it came, it had gone bad - almost vinegar. Server apologized and...

The dinner menu presents a number of interesting Indian and Nepalese dishes. My wife enjoys their take on Tandoori specialties. I tend to try the Nepalese dishes. We stumbled upon this restaurant for new years eve dinner for a large part - kids and adults. It was amazing! Great food and a fun drink list. I have had lunch at HH at least two dozen times over the past two years. The food has remained consistently very good, especially the chicken satay and the lamb dishes. We've lived in the area for years and decided to try a new restaurant rather than return to old favorites, and we're glad we did. The Himalayan Heritage was a true delight, especially the appetizers. I usually go and eat in their restaurant and I was happy to know their delivery was just as good! I live within their delivery zone. Yet when a woman came to deliver my food she lectured me and said "I really don't like coming out here." The food was delicious but I was unimpressed with the service. I didn't get a confirmation email, so I called the restaurant to confirm, and I had to try 5 or 6 times before anyone picked up.
