I stayed here for a night while attending a concert. It was within walking distance. The hotel is located in Old Towne near some decent bars. The hotel is dated. I want to thank the staff member on Saturday for her exceptional help, understanding, and kindness with directions to the hotel from Norfolk State University which was only 5-10 minutes away from the university. Reserved two rooms for the three of us. One had no working AC. They offered us fans. The thermostat said 92 degrees. We declined. "How about a roll out and we will just sleep three to a room". Nope. This hotel is a diamond in the ruff. When we pulled up, I thought this was a bad decision. Looks like it needs major updating from the outside but once inside my uneasiness subsided. It smelled and looked clean, the hotel staff were amazing and the room was clean. I have to say it wasn't what I expected and I was pleased.

We often stay at the Gov Dinwiddie when in town. If we are going to have time to sit by a pool or soak in a hot tub or work out in a fitness area we would go elsewhere but most often when in town we have a very full schedule so the Dinwiddie is a great choice.
