Fuji's dining experience goes beyond great food. Our partrons watch chefs prepar meals of hibachi shrimp, scallops, chicken and stak while they perform dazzling and highly skilled maneuvers with razor sharp knives, salt and pepper shakers, and flying shrimp. As the Outer Banks only Japanese steakhouse we offer locals and tourists a taste of some of the most ancient and flavorful meals from...
Traditional hibachi grill (also known as teppanyaki) fare, prepared by a knife-wielding, egg-throwing, wise-cracking chef, covers all the bases: chicken, beef, shrimp and scallops or any combination thereof, all served with crisp vegetables and well-seasoned fried rice. Communal table diners will also receive an oniony chicken broth soup and fresh salad topped with the traditional ginger...
Stopped in to this Japanese place for a light late evening snack. What we had (sushi rolls (4) and Miso soup) was really wonderful. To bad this was our last night in OBX. Now we wish we had stopped sooner. Everything was very clean, staff was a great help and I am sure that all food would be as good...
First off let me say that I am not a Japanese food person. I had never ate it before but decided to try it because it was my daughter's turn to pick the restaurant and this is what she wanted. She has had Japanese food before. With this being my first time, I didn't really know what to expect with...
This place is everything you could want in hibachi. Fun, playful chefs and really good food. Huge portions, too, even for the kids menu. We went early as we didn't want to wait with two little kids. Had a great time.
We had a larger group of 12 for dinner, including 5 younger kids. We called ahead, and were told they could seat us in 30 minutes, which was perfect, as we were driving from South Nags Head. We arrived and we seated promptly. We quickly noticed it was very hot in the restaurant. We asked the hostess if it could...
Your sitting around the chefs cookingplate, and the chef will entertain you. The food (made on the plate)was to our liking, and the Sushi was even better. Are there places with better food - yes! is there places that cheaper - yes! Still I would love to come back for a happy and good experience. Best for larger parties/ familys...
well this is my opinion...not everyone feels the way I do, as I have been in the food service industry all my adult life and know how things roll....
The facility was not extremely nice, the food was okay. The chef overcooked my table's rice, but he was extremely entertaining. This is definitely not the nicest hibachi/sushi restaurant I have gone to, but I would eat there again.
This restaurant is so so...Lunch portions are small I've never left a Japanese restaurant without leftovers until this place! Also the shrimp sauce was watery... would not go back
We had the place to ourselves so the 12 of us got quite a show. The staff was good, attentive and entertaining. Food was standard Japanese fare and price on the high side.
If you're with a family, it's a good place to go for lunch, but the prices seem to double for dinner. Food wasn't bad. Would only go for dinner on a date for two.
Service was great but the food was probably the worst japanese we have ever had. It just didn't taste authenticand it was very salty.
Don't judge this place by the exterior. We were pleasantly surprised by very good quality sushi, and the lunch deals were a very good value. We didn't do the hibachi, but could see that the chefs were very animated and everyone was having a good time. The outer banks does not have a lot of sushi options, so this place...
Awesome sushi, fantastic hibatchi, hilarious, funny staff... we are regulars there and love every bite and second there!
If you like hibachi style, you will love this. Great food while being entertained by your personal chef. Be sure to go early to avoid waiting in line. Early afternoons 2-3 o'clock is best. After that be prepared to wait (worth the wait). The chefs will have you laughing and enjoying yourself.
My son's favorite! He has always loved the antics at the grills and good sushi too :)
Settled on Fuji after reading reviews and asking around town. Great experience! Wide menu, fair prices, excellent presentation, and delicious. Try the KDH roll and the tempura roll - awesome! The wait was a little long to start, but we ordered a LOT of sushi, nagiri, and sashimi. After finishing, and deciding that another tempura roll and spicy tuna hand...
Read the previous reviews, those are pretty spot on. The show is fun, one of the chefs may very well have a serious addiction to espresso.
What I like about Fuji is that during the season, you can get in and eat without a ridiculous wait. Everything at the beach is pricey during the summer. But the prices here are...
We dine at Fuji several time a year and are NEVER disappointed, whether we are having Hibachi or Sushi & Saki at the Sushi Bar~ We Always leave Happy !~!
In the Off-season they offer a huge discount which made our meal really inexpensive and they give you huge portions. If I had to pay the full price, I'm not 100% sure if I would think it was worth it, but for the off-season price, it's a GREAT deal. We went twice with our two young children. Our chef was...
Ok I've been to hibachi quite a few times and it has always been fun and amusing. I guess the same is true this time although the chef was a bit over the top. A little too much actually. I wondered quite a few tiems if he was sipping on sake before he came out. Apparently he is always like...
This is one of the few places in OBX where you know you'll get decent quality food. The lunch prices are much better than dinner, and the food/experience are the same. The food is made in front of you, and they seem to have 2 chefs. One is a little crazy to the point where you're not sure if it's...
I have eaten at many Japanese Steakhouses around the U.S., but this is as good as any. Excellent sushi. It's much better than you might expect at a beach location.
Very dissapointed in the sushi chefs! They served what they called white tuna....the thing is a good sushi chef would be laughing his butt off at us for not knowing better...ya it was not white tuna instead it was a fish called Escolar. We loved it and ordered 3 rounds of straight up sashimi "white tuna" it was delicious read...
We actually ordered take out because we had arrived at our rental kinda late and didn't really want to go out anywhere, just relax from our drive. The person on the phone was really nice, and told us it would be about 10 min. for it to be ready. I was a little skeptical but we waited a few minute...
I love this place, tons of yummy food for a good price
My husband and I love this restaurant !! Every time we go we sit at the hibachi table and it is worth paying the split plate fee because I always have leftovers and my husband is always full. There are 2 chefs, one is older and does the more basic tricks and the other is wild and crazy and you are definitely going to have a blast watching him!! Great for parties or just a night out, lots of...
We, too, were "hit" (literally, with sliced zucchini) by the lewd hibachi chef. My family couldn't believe our ears. While it's not necessary to repeat what he said, you, too, can play the game - Simply add the word "sexy" before every noun (sexy man, sexy woman, sexy girl, sexy boy), then start cackling and hooting to yourself. Don't forget to caress the butter before placing it on the hot...
We went for Sushi (they also have hibachi style table dining).
Sushi was really pretty mediocre. There were some rolls were what we received was not actually what we ordered. Another patron at the bar sent his back because it wasn't what he ordered. Saw the waiter get into an arguement with the sushi chef about a role that the...
I am not quite sure where to start with this review but I will say the sushi was quite good and very fresh. However the hibachi bar left much to be desired. It was the slowest hibachi experience ever and the rice was still crunchy when served, 5-6 minutes later the protein was served. Which by the way I had...
I have been to Fuji's Japanese Steakhouse on numerous occasions. I typically do not write reviews, however, I felt the need to respond to some of the visitors to the area. If you have had a bad dining experience in this restaurant, it is YOUR fault. Fuji's does not glam it up. It is a fun establishment that goes significantly...
We went on our last night of vacation. We had been out doing lots of things that day, and we were late getting ready and out for supper. We walked in just barely in time to get hibachi seating before they stopped. (hibachi service stops at 20 minutes before closing). Going in so late, I was worried that we would...
Ate here with my wife while on vcation. The service was ok however they only offered one salad dressing (ginger). Our cook's delivery was what you would expect from this style restaurant. The cook at the table behind us was very loud, screamed, and laughed maniacally about once a minute. Just made for an awkward experience.
The food was subpar...
The food was great - the price was Very reasonable - they made special accommodations for the vegetarian in our party - we were not expecting it to be as good as the ones back home but it was!
I have been to countless hibachi grills and since this is the only one in the area its better than nothing at all. The first upset is chef at the hibachi table very poor presentation the only tricks he did at the table was twirl the cooking instruments, catch a egg in his pocket and light the grill on fire, no charisma with the guest which is a huge part of this type of dining. The amount of...
this place is great fo the whole family very entertaning watch the chefs cook right in front of you!! A must go see
Food good but always short chefs . Waited at table 1 hour with two hungry...
Food is good. Skip the sushi
My wife, 18 year old son and I ate here August 1, 2008. Pretty good food but our chef unfortunately was vulgar under the guise of thinking he was a comedian. It was a shame since some overseas tourists with young children were at the table. The chef needs help and hopefully the restaurant will read this and do what is necessary to ensure his well being and not put patrons in a very uncomfortable situation. Those who get stuck with him are forced to hear his inappropriate routine simply because they are hungry. It's the perfect predator's scenario since he knows he can get away with this as...
I love Japenese food, but when my husband and I went to Fuji Japanese Steakhouse we had a bad experience. We had a very inappropriate cook. He acted like he was drunk or on drugs and he made a lot of sexual references. I would not go back there or take my family there. The managers there need to keep a better eye on what their cooks are saying and doing. Fuji you get a 0 from me
We went there on girl's weekend and we sat at the sushi bar. The sushi was great but man, not sure if their air conditioner was broke but it...
I believe this is the only Japanese Steakhouse in the area and the food is great. Their hibachi chefs come over to cook and entertain you a...
I've been here now twice in as many years (when we make our OBX trip in May). You can't go wrong with a combo sushi/steak house. The chefs are awesome...they are entertaining, accomodating and friendly. The food is top-notch.
