Help us make it rightThe chef is outstanding - her constantly changing menu continue to amazes me. Every dish looks like it came out of Gourmet magazine and tastes even better. Great wine selection; attentive waitresses; friendly clientele. Superb.
What better way to celebrate the end of the mundane "Monday to Friday" work week than to be with great friends! We celebrated life and friendship with friends at Carol Mead Smith's Relish restaurant in Warsaw, and what a special evening it was! Our dinners were superb....flash fried succulent local oysters, crispy and sweet....and the decatent shrimp with creamy, cheesy...
We have eaten all over the Northern Neck and this is the best. I had the strip steak. It was cooked perfectly. Seared on the outside and pink on the inside, just as I requested. It was a decent size and a very good cut of meat. The fries were very good as was the side Cesarean salad. My wife...
My step-son and daughter-in-law had raved about this restaurant, so we insisted on going when we visited for the weekend. I must say that that area around Warsaw is NOT a food mecca; in fact, there aren't very many decent restaurants worth going to.
We arrived on a busy, Saturday night to find that they were "short-handed." Not a problem!...
Relish is a small restaurant in the small Northern Neck town of Warsaw, where you might not expect to find such excellent dining. They offer small plates and entrees with a nice variety of seafood dishes like softshell crab "popsicles" and oyster po boy bites. My entree of Rappahannock oysters and saltwater catfish was lightly battered and deliciously cooked, seemingly...
Simply amazing food on a Friday evening! The pork chop was succulent - my husband wanted to almost lick the plate and the butternut squash soup was sweet and tasty. especially with the brie & pear crostini. My husband and I happily shared a pumpkin pie that was unique and perfect - it had nuts and or roasted pumpkin seeds....
I've dined in some of the fanciest VA restaurants but Relish outshines them all! Our group enjoyed the most delicate and delectable soft shell crab, oysters & catfish we'd ever tasted. The accompanying grits may have been made by angels they were so heavily. Seriously, I'd come back to Warsaw just to visit Relish again -- even if it means...
Food:
My mother got the meatloaf with rosemary and I got the crawfish linguine. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The restaurant atmosphere was cute. The service was attentive and friendly but sometimes bordering on unprofessional in his conversational skills. I guess the server just lacked a little of the finesse would you expect in a fine dining restaurant. But...
I am a vegetarian. My rule is this: if it had a face, feet, fins, feelings, or a mother, it does not belong on my fork. Like many restaurants, Relish has limited options for those who share my view of what should and should not be consumed. But I have been to Relish many times--both in its first location in...
Well, let's put it this way. Despite generous portions, after two appetizers and a full main course, my husband needed to get another appetizer because he really just needed to try another item. Although stuffed, we indulged in dessert as well.
We did the pickled fried green tomatoes and catfish bites to start (both amazing), then I had the filet...
Relish had been recommended to us for the Date Night Special - two main courses, a dessert to share and a bottle of wine for $55. The food and service were both excellent. We would have returned for a second evening, but it is only open Wednesdays to Saturday's.
We just dined at "Date Night". Two entrées, a bottle of featured wine and a dessert to share. Great value! I had the crab on crab on crab and the soft shell was perfect. My wife had the filet which was cooked just as she had ordered. The wine was excellent. The menu changes frequently and reservations are advised.
We took advantage of Thursday's "Date Night" (two entrees, a desert to share and a bottle of wine. I ordered pork chop with sweet potato. My wife had shrimp. Both meals were delightful. I rate this as one of the top 10 meals I've ever eaten.
Had the filet and the crab cakes. All was as it is normally - very very good. We just love this place and we come often. Thanks Carol!
Yummy dinner tonight with friends at Relish in Warsaw! Had the delightful seasonal salad of heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, jalapeños, fresh mozzarella, basil, and balsamic and olive oil...Refreshing! Then, three of us had Wild Copper River Sockeye Salmon in a coconut curry sauce topped with a watermelon relish over jasmine rice, with stir fried fresh summer veggies. OMGosh, how tasty it...
I frequent Relish with family and friends and have never been disappointed. Great and unique cocktails, an ever changing and creative menu couple with a festive atmosphere.
We recently ate there for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. it was so very nice, quiet, and excellent food.
We ate seafood, Copper River Salmon. Service was great. It's become a destination place, unusual for a town the size of Warsaw. Stop by, you'll like it.
I had the pork chop, my wife the filet. Salad was very creative. Meat was a little over done but very flavorful. Will go back and try some of the other fish, and seafood dishes.
My wife and I were staying in Warsaw to visit some friends and needed to find a place for dinner. When we arrived in Warsaw we drove around and spotted Relish we decided to give it a try later that evening. We were pleasantly surprised.
We both had a great meal. I had the fish tacos and my wife the...
Relish is a class act in the Northern Neck. Carol's talents shine through every dish in a very "local" and comfortable setting. The filet mignon is a reliable choice, as is the pork chop. I definitely recommend the Anjou Pear Crostini appetizer if the pears are in season and available - absolutely perfect! Call ahead for reservations (definitely on date...
We've eaten at many of the restaurants on the Northern Neck, and none have approached the quality of the food served at Relish. We can't wait to come back!
My family enjoyed a great meal here with friends that are local to the area. The food was excellent! Quality and care went into the preparation of the food with a great sense of local flavors and fresh foods. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good and relaxing! Looking forward to our next trip down!
My wife ,Pat and I were looking for a new dinning experience with a reasonable driving distance for our river place and I came up with Relish! I had seen some good reviews from locals and felt it was worth a try! Boy am I glad I did! I called ahead for reservations and realized when we got there that...
With its somewhat "funky" decor, friendly waitstaff and owner, and delightfully original dishes, you can't go wrong with Relish! Just wish it was open more days of the week--sorry, Carol!
Gluten intolerance is not fun but Relish makes it lots easier. They offer gluten free breading on their fried foods. Had gluten free fried oysters (first time I've been able to eat them in years). They were perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth tender. I'll definitely be back soon. Also had a nice wine tasting.
Between the two of us, we had everything on the special menu. Oysters, salad, tenderloin, fish and 2 salads. Wine by the glass. Very high quality. Portions small enough so you are not too full for desert.
Relish is a treasure for the locals. Thank you, Carol, for having three gluten-free pasta options! The wine tasting was fun...dinner delicious.
As "locals" we have been waiting for such a place as Relish. The food is always outstanding and fresh. My husband and I have had most everything on the menu, and I must say picking a favorite dish would be hard for me. Carol Meade sure does a fabulous shrimp and grits, and the oysters po boy appetizer is always...
Few and far between are places in the Northern Neck / Middle Peninsula that one could recommend to friends for a reliably great dinner out that lives up to your personal recommendation! Having moved location from Prince Street, Tappahannock to the old Northern Neck Gourmet in Warsaw there a few teething issues but it seems to have settled down to...

We went with friends on a Saturday night. The menu has varied choices and the chef knows how to cook seafood. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing and even had a genuine smile. Little niceties. Would definitely recommend.
We always enjoy dining at Relish! Always something new and interesting on the menu! Fresh ingredients and using local farmers and watermen is important to Carol Meade when planning her menu.
This place was an awesome find through Tripadvisor! We went to visit family in Montross and looked for a place close by and found this Wonderful place. The Food was just the beginning of a Great experience. The atmosphere was very nice..........the food was ALL fresh ingredients and the Mint Sweet Tea was quite a surprise. We had 8 people...
Had a delicious dinner at Relish in Warsaw, VA the other night. The summer vegetable linguini was exceptional. I don't usually go for vegetarian entrees, but the sweet corn infused sauce was amazing. A little touch of heat, just enough to kick the creamy sweetness up, and the freshest corn, butter beans, blackeyed peas, and cherry tomatoes around. So yummy....
Nothing to not love about this place! If your in the area, or even the region, you won't be disappointment venturing to see Carol (chef/owner) at Relish.
We've eaten twice at Relish in Warsaw. The chef/owner took over the old Northern Neck Gourmet space. The decor is not luxe but comfy. We've had two good dining experiences; the second I'd say was exceptional. For the first meal our entrees were the Shrimp and Grits, and a special, Soft Shell Crab and Grits. Both were very good, the...
Stopped in on Saturday night looking from something new in the Northern Neck. We were seated quickly and initial impressions were good. Our hostess recommended the watermelon martini as she has just finished squeezing the juice for the mix. We looked over the drink menu (no pricing - first sign) and ordered the drink. Allegedly there was alcohol in the...
The Relish in Warsaw, Virginia is a top-shelf establishment. The food taste and presentation is what you would expect from a fine dining establishment in a big city, yet Relish is nestled in the small town of Warsaw, Virginia with a small-town price. The atmosphere and wait staff is phenomenal and top notch. You are lucky if you are a...
With locally sourced produce and seafood, Carol Mead prepares mouth-watering dishes such as crab cakes and summer linguine, keeping a light hand with the breading and cream sauce. Salads are crisp with the wonderful flavors of heirloom tomatoes, fresh lettuces and herbs.
Staff was attentive and even created a delicious, fruity sangria at our request.
Save room for dessert! On...
When we want superior fresh food cooked to perfection we visit Carol Mead and her Relish restaurant. Although the service can be a tad slow, the food more than makes up for it. Decent wine to compliment the meal makes it a plus for this area.
You need to seek out this gem. I've been traveling to this small town for 30 years with only a McDonald's and KFC. I decided to try it out after driving by and seeing it full of people (nothing is full of people in Warsaw, VA!
I tried the Tuna with an awesome wasabi sauce, topped by a roasted peach....
Great, delicious food! Slow drink service, very little ambiance but will definitely eat there again. Not open every night...reservations recommended.
Thought it was expensive for what I got. I had shrimp and grits and the shrimp was not plentiful. The salad was very good with fresh asparagus but then had fresh asparagus with the entree.
Service could have been more attentive.
Absolutely incredible meal. Everything was so fresh and flavorful that we couldn't wait to try the next course. The crab tower and cucumber crab bowl appetizers were great. The corn relish was delicious. My two teenagers had the crab cakes with fresh vegetables and ate every bit and I had the shrimp and grits. Heaven on a fork! They finish...
My gift to my hubby for father's day was a trip to the Northern neck for dinner. I sent some of the very positive reviews I had read to him and he agreed it was worth the trip (some 60 miles) . Are we ever glad we did. Summer linguine tossed with squash, zucchini ,tomatoes and sugar snap peas was...
Tremendous food, service, atmosphere. Relish moved from Tappahannock to Warsaw. The new venue is open and airy. All the cuisine and made from local, fresh ingredients. Plate presentation is beautiful, it is obvious the chef takes great care with each plate. Appetizers, we had crab cakes, wonderful. For dinner we had the shrimp and grits, the best ever tasted, and...
The food there is beyond! Haven't had anything like it in awhile! The set up and location is just perfect. The service is great and the waitress's are very helpful and attentive. Highly recommend this place especially, if your in town.
For the recent Mothers Day weekend, we traveled across the beautiful Rappahannock to enjoy a brunch at the new Relish location in Warsaw. Having enjoyed a really nice dinner for Valentines Day at the old location in Tappahannock, we expected a nice experience. Unfortunately, things did not turn out so well. The entire service seemed to be in the not-so...
Our meal was beyond. Had the North Carolina tuna with watermelon cucumber salsa and wasabi lime butter. Best fish I've has in long time. Fresh and tasty. Can't wait to return. Malbec house so good and finished with the homemade strawberry shortcake. The staff was so great as they sang happy birthday to our girl as they brought out the...
The food at Relish is always innovative and delicious. One generally only finds food of this quality in larger metropolitan areas. A true jewel in the rural Northern Neck. Service can be spotty, but the food and the atmosphere more than make up for it.
The new location of Relish in Warsaw, VA is simply amazing. The bar is a huge hit and helps create a high end pub feel to the restaurant. It's wonderful to see people mingling and chatting with one another. The food, as always is brilliantly created, beautifully presented and delicious. The new fish tacos have become my new favorite. The...
Never visited Relish in the old location but we decided to give it a try tonight I ordered the shrimp and grits. As good as any I have eaten in Charleston. Debated between that and.the rock. Cant wait to try that next time. Service was very good and I love the location
