This is one of my favorite restaurants. I eat there all of the time. The food and service are excellent, and there is no way that their new york strip special was $55. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but there is a garage six blocks down and you can always find a meter close by. Definitely check this restaurant out.

Do not trust the "$$" rating. I ordered the New York strip special. My fault I guess for not asking the price up front, but $55!!!!!!!! Can't help but wonder if that had something to do with our waiter's recommendation. It certainly was not because of the quality of the steak because it was "average" at best. Other issue is the parking - there is none. No valet, no parking garage, no available meters. Only option our party could figure out was to valet at the nearby Holiday Inn and pretend we were going to eat at "Isle of Capri". Come to think of it, maybe thats where we should have gone!!!!

Eat is exactly what you'll want to do at this funky little beachside bistro. The attitude is playful but the food is serious, befitting an upscale restaurant where the boardwalk ends. Chef-owner Erick Heilig piles on rock shrimp, scallops,… Read More

Eat was an excellent find for us. The restaurant was well located, and provided a very nice quiet setting. The food was varied and the choices were excellent. The small plates, and particularly the fresh Mobjack Bay oysters were excellent. The service was crisp, friendly and a nice team effort. We'll be returning.

Despite grumpy and sour-faced hostess, the food was good, the menu beyond the typical seafood fare of Va beach restaurants, and the service friendly. I would return again.

Smelled like a wet dog. Garbage service; cheese plate that seemed like it was from the local grocery store. It may have been a rough night. I don't like to give negative reviews so on the upside the drinks were great but the bar had dead flys in the windowsill. Give it a shot maybe you'll get a nice waitress and have nasal congestion-- could be a good experience if that's the case.

VISITED ON: Dec. 5, 2011. I looked this place up on Urbanspoon as I was new to the area but had guests that I wanted to impress and treat to an interesting treat. Besides the awful parking, their is even a disclaimer right on the menus, and the fact that I was a moron and brought my small child... It was great! This place has some amazing food and although it looks "foo-foo" it is delicious and...

Great food but not kid friendly. We were sat out side on a chilly evening because all of the tables were "reserved" in the hour I was there only two tables were seated. I had a celebration dinner planned but they lost our business so we could find an inside table. It just made another resturaunt $200 richer.

Yelp

Delicious, fresh, and innovative! The seafood du jour with Thai curry broth is to die for! Aventinus in the bottle here, too! I've had several standard signature dishes here many times (Veggie…

Yelp

Had Clam Chowder and Goats Cheese App. Both were great. Dissapointed with Restaurant Week Offerings: Catfish, Brunswick Stew, and Meatloaf? They shouldn't be worried about food cost, but turning on…

Southern Living (Jan 08) mentioned Eat as a standout restaurant and it lives fully to the recommendation. The dining area is tiny and the view is of a bank of hotel rooms (oddly a cool spot). The staff is friendly, helpful and spot-on with wine and entree recos. The food is the best thing - it's a tremendous standout from the offerings on the strip. It's as good as anything you're going to...
