Massive masonic-lodge looking building hidden away in the rolling hills of Virginia. Large taproom had the feel of a hunting lodge. About a dozen beers on tap, the 2 I had were solid. Fast, friendly service and a tasty burger. This campus and facility is huge and I did not explore most of it, and unfortunately now that it is owned by ABInBev I will never return.

I have watched it grow from a small very good brewpub to a LARGE one

and the quality may actually be better. This was a small local brewery/pub set at the foot of Wintergreen Resort and it initially fed off of the resort guests and locals but has grown exponentially over the past 10 years and now is a destination...

Situated at the base of the mountain before Wintergreen Resort. In a valley area with views of the mountains on all sides. Nice sized complex with just about all you need for a relaxing day. Inside bar and restaurant, outside bar and restaurant, building with spirits and cigars, place for Sunday brunch with coffee, and a building in the works for a distillery.
Spent most of our time outside....

A group of ten of us needed to pre-game this past weekends ACC championship game so we loaded up and had an enjoyable afternoon with great beers and a wonderful lunch.

After reading great reviews of DBB, and seeing DBB in many different grocery stores in DC, we headed to the brewery in Virginia. The ambiance feels like you're in a lodge. It has many taxidermy animals on the walls (not my thing, but it's fine)....

I knew this place was big, but I didn't realize just how big. It's huge, actually. Almost looked like a theme park when we drove up, and the sheer volume of cars in the lot did not bode well for us. So, there's the main building, which is lodge-like: crazy crap on the walls, and taxidermied animals everywhere. Outside there are tons of seating areas, with a fire pit, a pet area, a private room...

Was packed when we went - service was incredibly slow but friendly enough. The vibe is more like a chain restaurant than a brewery. It's fine, but nothing to seek out. If you're in town anyway it's worth stopping in but I wouldn't call it world class or a must.

Visited on a mid-summer Thursday evening. Medium busy but server said it was a lot busier than expected. Seated right away but waited about 15 minutes for server to stop by. Not in a rush but would have been nice to get a drink order in. Service was friendly and good after initial slowness. Food was excellent. Would def try again. Hopefully they will have enough staff.

After a number of visits to Devil's Backbone, I've realized that while their beers are well made, they are not particularly distinctive and probably not aligned to my taste. I'll drink it but but not particularly excited to see...
