Seafood resturant without seafood?

I expected more because of the reviews. It was hard to find, then you had to walk in the cold a mile it seemed. Parking was awful. The restaurant was drafty. They didnt serve iced tea?! They didnt have crab legs, or twice baked potatoes, (how hard could that be to make?!) And to top it all, it was over 23$ a plate!! Dont waste your time or money! SOOOOOO NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!! Also the service was slow and to top it off, we both got sick after spending the evening in a drafty "bar" disguised as an expensive restaurant.

I expected much better from this restaurant based on their website. High prices and elegant preparation usually means quality food and good ambiance. What I received on my 16th anniversary night was poor service, average food and karaoke night as a backdrop. We told them it was our anniversary, and still had to ask for a decent table.
If their website had mentioned it was karaoke night, we never would have gone there. Because we wanted the smoking section, we had to sit in the bar side of the restaurant. We dined as the would be singers wailed and screeched away.
The stuffed mushrooms were tough, and the portion sizes on the salad and soup were very small. The food was not presented on the plate as shown in the pictures. Make no mistake, this is a bar pretending to be a restaurant.
On the plus side, the view of downtown Norfolk was great, and we enjoyed our walk down the pier. Maybe a better place for lunch or late night appetizers instead of a romantic evening out.

Company treated us right this year at the Christmas party. Heavy hors d' oeuvres for party but we stayed for dinner and had a surf and turf special and it was out of this world. New York strip cooked to perfection with scallops blackened just right. We will be back. A great find.

Went to company christmas party and wow what a view. Food was excellent. Company had mostly heavy appetizers, but I can't wait to go back for dinner, perhaps a New Year's place to celebrate. Give this one a try.

The seafood served here is very good. It is located at the end of a fairly long pier with stairs to take you up to the restaurant were the view is very pretty. That said, I found the service only fair and the atmosphere poor. I felt like I was interfering with the employees gossip time. I'm in no hurry...

This needs to be updated. This location has hosted some very unremarkable restaurants in the past. Finally, we have something to brag about. 757-CRAVE on the Harbor took over this place late last year, and it is our favorite place. Mostly, because we can go by boat. But the food is great. The daily menu of shrimp/fish baskets, wraps, crab...

Came here with my wife for a meal. Saw the food people had at the table and wasn't impressed. Then when getting the menu and seeing the ridiculous over priced food. We chose the Deck Restaurant to host our rehearsal dinner because of its great location on the Elizabeth River and great food. We wanted to have a more casual dinner, so we chose to have BBQ pork, potato salad, cole slaw, and all the fixings. Everyone thought the food was absolutely delicious, and the scenery was amazing. They were able to meet our requests and were very helpful in recommending...

We chose The Deck for our wedding reception because of it's beautiful location on the Elizabeth River. After speaking with Kevin Young, the manager, I knew this was the place for us. Nothing uptight, very flexible, and wonderful food. Though we couldn't fulfill the desire for an outside event due to the rain, the staff accommodated over 100 family and friends in their dining room upstairs with...

We were so happy to choose the Deck Restaurant for our rehearsal dinner venue. The food was excellent and the value was great. The location overlooks the Elizabeth River and was within walking distance of the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel.

The view of the port is the best in the area, the service is very good. To get here drive into the dock parking area and walk past the boats.. If you have not been here before, it's worth the trip. The She Crab soup is amazing and anything Crab is great.

This place is close to the hotel and sits right in the middle of the marina so I thought - why not? You can choose from the deck, dining area or bar. I chose the bar for the A/C and view, both were great! I ordered a basket of hush puppies and the fried seafood platter. The hush puppies never...

My sister, brother-in-law and I decided to try Half Shells. We arrived at 7:45. We ordered chicken wings for an appetizer and placed our main order by 8:00. The chicken wings came out raw. Food was terrible! I ordered a burger which is difficult to get wrong... ordered medium rare and got a well-done burger. My wife had a seafood dish with overcooked scallops and overcooked vegetables. The service was slow; getting our meals as well as getting water and drink refills. Overall THE worst restaurant I have ever been to.

This is such a great location but they just can't seem to get it right. The service is slow and they are usually out of many things on the menu. The food is fair at best. This marina location deserves a good restaurant and for some reason no one can seem to make it work.

Arrived with a friend with intent to have dinner. The prices were high and the smell of cigarettes from the adjoining bar made us decide to stick with appetizers only. Our only problem was that service was a little slow, but we were not in a hurry. The food was excellent. It was too cool for the deck but the view was good. My seafood combo (shrimp, scallops, oyster, fish and crab cake)was tender and delicious. My husband enjoyed his broiled tuna.

Not a fan of this place. Have been there twice now (both times in January) and it's just okay. With more places downtown to try, I won't be going back to the Deck. The food takes forever to arrive if you're in a group (we had ten). Mine was cold tonight when it arrived, and they ran out of shrimp before 7:00. Half our group had to make subsitutions on our orders.

First time going to this restaraunt in a very long time and I guess they changed cooks since then. I knew that it would be pricey but had no idea that the portions would be so small and even worse the food was very bland to very bad. Also service was extremely slow. Save your money.
