Not fancy, no view, but nice enough and perfect for our needs. Clean room, great water pressure, super comfortable bed, very clean. Friendly front desk, nice practical lobby area for relaxing or having a drink. Great room for the price.
The hotel was far outside the city, located on a busy road with various chain restaurants on it. For us it worked because we were just staying one night on our way to NC. The hotel was pricey for being that far outside the city, but overall we didn't have any big complaints that the hotel could remedy. The shower...
I spent a week at this property Along with over twenty members of the team. Our check-in was seamless as was our check-out. The room was nice and the water pressure in the bathroom was lovely. It was also quiet and I slept well every night. We had breakfast at the hotel a few mornings and the selection was good...I...
Our experience here was partly colored by the fact that we arrived late, tired, and cranky. Also the maps looked as though the motel was right off I95...not the case.
Room was nice and they upgraded us but we had no time to enjoy the upgrade. We were driving from RI to FL so had three motels along the way....
We stayed here when visiting University of Richmond. We upgraded to a suite and found the room to be great. Very large, clean and comfortable with a pull out couch, king bed and lots of seating. The only issue was the very small size of the bathroom. It is tiny and not conducive to 3 people getting ready to head...
I read the reviews. I was hoping for the best. And...yeah, very nice place for a stay on the north/west side of town. It's an older property by the looks of it when you pull up, but the room/bathroom was super clean and comfortable. Breakfast from Bistro was good and all the staff were very courteous. Thanks, Marriott!
Check-in was easy. No issues there. When I arrived in my room, the towels were still laying on the bathroom floor. The shower had a bar of the soap left over from previous person and a bottle in the tub. Tip money still on the table. The AC unit was loud. This place didn't compare to it's branch in Chesapeake...
I stayed at this Courtyard for one night while on a business trip.
There is plenty of free parking on site. Check-in was quick and easy.
My room was on the second floor. It was a typical older-style Courtyard room. There was no mini-refrigerator (even though there was a space for one in the dresser). There was a coffee maker....
This courtyard by Marriott in historic Richmond was a very pleasant experience. The room was spacious, very clean, very comfortable beds, and the breakfast service above average. We would have stayed much longer but the nine day bike race made visiting the city very difficult.
We don't normally write reviews but this hotel convinced us.
The sink didn't drain and it took them two days to fix it. The toilet clogged on first use and we had to call the desk three times just to get a plunger. The air conditioner rattled like an old car (it worked -- it was just really loud), and...
Stayed twice this year, April and again in August. Clean rooms, hallways and public spaces. Quick check-in and helpful staff. Beds were very comfortable and the room had plenty of room for the 4 of us. Very convenient to downtown, restaurants and shopping. Quiet at night. Ate in the lobby cafe for both breakfast and dinner - both very good....
Everything I would expect from a Marriott. Quick checkin. Helpful friendly staff. Nice comfortable rooms. They are nicely decorated with free wifi. Convenient location. Had a great breakfast and also dinner on site. Took advantage of the deck and pool after a day in the office.
Stayed at this property during a week long business trip to Richmond. Made my reservation online at Marriot.com and the checkin process was quick. One of my co-workers drove down and he used the parking service and the car was retrieved by the valet within 5-10 minutes every morning we headed out. The room was big and comfortable, and you...
Very comfortable beds, outside Richmond but manageable
4 star
Clean comfortable room in a well maintained building. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would choose this location again when in the area but not for downtown business. Property is consistent with the Courtyard brand.
The rooms were very clean. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. We Enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Bistro. The wait staff were nice and food was served quickly. Ask to stay on the side of the hotel away from the interstate. The freeway gets quiet loud.
Spent one night in town with family. Hotel is located near many of the areas we visited. Lobby was remodeled and rooms looked clean. Only issue was the balcony. It was very dirty with garbage on the ground. We would stay here again. Very good price vs. staying downtown or way out.
Customer service can make a tremendous difference in a stay. The warm welcome at check in did not disappoint. I enjoy being greeted by smiling faces who truly look pleased to help their guests. At the front desk, Krystal was on point as she presented us with our keys following our online check in. Every other staff member my family...
What is Marriott thinking? We had such a wonderful stay in a Courtyard once that we were wiling to become loyal customers. They took away the complementary coffee, they converted the "Stay for Breakfast" rate to an egg mcmuffin breakfast instead of a buffet bar, downsized the mini-fridge and took the microwave out of the room. Oh and the coffee...
Disappointed breakfast was not included. Trash can not empty when we arrived. Staff friendly!
Stayed here for a baseball tournament. Very nice property, with great amenities. Priced reasonably and in a good location to many restaurants and shopping, near the highway. Would definitely recommend!
Great rooms. Nice hotel great beds nice pool. Will definitely use JPMorgan employee discount.
I booked this room and stay using my Marriott reward points so it hard to complain about free rooms.
The room was nice and well furnished however it was very small and quite a squeeze for 4.
Bed was comfortable and the room was clean hard to ask for more than that.
There is a nice pool in the courtyard...
My daughter and I stayed there the night before her LSAT test as UofR and it was everything we needed and more. It was clean an well designed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the employees were all polite and helpful. I will stay there again if I ever need a hotel in Richmond.
It was good. Bed was very comfortable. Nice shower. The railroad next door was a bit of a problem at night.
We recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott, on Broad Street in Richmond, for one night over the Memorial Day weekend (Sat May 23rd). For my family of four we booked two standard rooms using Marriott reward points.
First of all, kudos to Marriott for allowing us to check-in the day before via their mobile app, and for sending us...
Lives up to Marriott standards. Great location close to restaurants, museums, shopping and historic locations. Double room large enough for 4 people. Wifi free. Quiet room even near elevator. Nice basic restaurant with small bar area.
Big fan of Marrioutts Courtyard locations, especially since adding Bistro dining. This location has a very friendly staff but did not deliver on this visit to Richmond on a hot, humid Memorial Day weekend. Found the pool closed and staff said they were working on it. Another said never open until Memorial Day. Both proved wronge. Were told To visit ?Residence inn if...
Overnight stay while visiting my daughter. Everyone on the staff was friendly. Room was clean, comfortable bed, very nice. The air conditioning was rather noisy, so my ear plugs came in handy at night.
Everything was fine, until at 3am the first night -- when the A/C died. We decided to live with it for the rest of the night, but couldn't really sleep. In the morning, I told the front desk, and they had a technician in the room within 5 minutes. I went away (who wants to be there while someone is fixing the A/C?), and when I returned it was working perfectly. The second night went without...
Very nice hotel. The room was nice...the bed comfortable! Small fridge and flat screen TV. Shower had great pressure. Clean. Staff Friendly. Our a/c didn't work well and kept us up the first night as if the circuit breaker was tripped and it kept recycling. We called the front desk in the morning and the problem was fixed with the...
This was not a terrible experience, but well short of my expectations for a Courtyard, which I am accustomed to being very consistent. The hotel is poorly laid out (lots of stairs and walking) and my room did not function that well; the A/C didn't work and the tub didn't drain well. NOT comfortable. This looks ona map like a good, less-expensive alternative to a downtown hotel, but it isn't.
My son and I recently stayed during our visit to the University of Richmond. We arrived late Thursday night and the young man working the front desk was so nice. The following morning ordering breakfast in the Cafe Lobby was another great example of the friendly, professional staff. The price is reasonable and the rooms are adequate-clean and comfortable. It...
I stayed at this hotel for a week and everyone and I mean everyone created an excellent customer experience. Thank you to Willa, Shamonna, Regina, Krystal for their wonderful hospitality. Tina and Crystal in housekeeping seemed to be around when ever I needed more coffee or any other items for the room. A shout out to Artis and Adam who...
Hotel is well located for my business. They do not include breakfast....which Courtyard hotels usually do.
Comfortable, updated, clean, great beds, bedding & pillows!
We came here for one night on a visit to University of Richmond and were pleasantly surprised. The bistro in the lobby was exceptional. They offered homemade breakfasts, yogurts, Starbucks coffee, and more. The waitress during the evening was very friendly and accommodating, but the two for breakfast the next day were even more so. My husband ordered oatmeal and...
I have stayed at this Courtyard property twice in the past two months as I travel to Richmond regularly for business. The surrounding area is nothing special. There is a Burlington Coat Factory right across the street and lots of small businesses nearby. This is not a trendy area of Richmond but it is very convenient to my workplace.
The...
This is a very convenient Courtyard and I typically stay here while on business in Richmond. A short drive off I64 and in a fairly quiet and industrial neighborhood. A 10minute drive will get you to the Cary Street area with plenty of nice restaurants. No complaints and a renovated lobby in the new Courtyard market style. Friendly staff.
We stayed one night and it was nice. The hotel appears to be renovated throughout. Nice lobby, friendly staff, and easy check-in. The room was typical Courtyard, clean, and upgraded. Our only issue was that it was too hot in the room. We had trouble regulating the temperature low enough so that we could sleep comfortably. I would recommend this...
4 star
The Courtyard is a slightly upscale motel, that pretty much says it all. It is a reasonable way to visit Richmond as I and my wife were doing. Further out on Broad Street/US 250 is a larger number of eating establishments. But, beware if you log in through motel.com. The web site asks if you want to prepay for parking (over $25), and thinking it was for a parking structure, I said yes. But, the...
nice, execpt the Bistro needs to learn how to fix a drink
ive stayed at this hotel twice! and i love it the staff is nice everyone is nice the rooms are great i sleep like a baby!
The staff was very nice. I have stayed here 3 times in a row from Priceline. The hotel was very big and very easy to find. But the rooms( some) were very far from the lobby. And their are several entrances to this hotel. It has an indoor hottub which was nice.
Great room, helpful staff. Everything about my stay was convenient and comfortable, which was exactly what I was looking for. If need arises, I'll stay there again.
This hotel was in a neighborhood close to family.\n\nThe only elevator was located on the back side of the hotel from the entrance. You had to take your luggage down a LONG hall of guest rooms (not a lobby) to the elevator. I felt sorry for the 1st floor guest dealing with the noise!! Very poor planning!!!\n\nWe did not have maid service for 3 days in a row. The maids skipped us the 2nd day &...
I really like the model of the Courtyard. The bistro/cafe is a super convenient alternative to foraging for food in an unknown location. Bed was comfy and room was clean and well maintained. At no fault of the staff, the vanity is so small. Fine for a single user but more than that is annoying.
This property is about a...
Employees here ate above and beyond awesome! I was in town for the Richmond marathon. The room was a little smaller than im used to and there was no continental breakfast, but the amazing staff made the experience at this hotel wonderful. To me, service is everything. Rooms were clean which is also extremely important to me. Next time im...
This Courtyard has been tastefully renovated and offers a comfortable night's rest. We had a second floor room facing the interior courtyard and found it quiet and restful. The hotel reception staff were welcoming and helpful. We didn't use any of their other services or facilities, so can't comment on that. Good value for an overnight stay driving the I95...
This hotel is updated and close to Univeristy of Richmond, the bed was very comfortable and the staff was friendly. The hallway was a little noisy Friday evening but nothing too bad. I liked that there is a traffic light to help you get out on Broad Street.
I stayed here for 5 days and have no complaints. The rooms are good size and clean. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a giant rectangle so it is a long walk to some of the rooms from the lobby. The lobby is very modern and was full of activity every morning. The rates are...
I was very disappointed as this Marriot Courtyard did not compare to any other Courtyard in which I have stayed. The room was much too small for a king sized bed(which was very soft). This hotel did not have the separate bedroom nor did it have the kitchenette. I was expecting suite style accommodations. It's not good for travelers who like to sleep late as per the person from housekeeping; she...
Liked the Courtyard Marriotts location because it was close to downtown and everywhere I needed to go in Richmond. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the accomodations were very clean.
On a major road, close to stores, restaurants, easy access to U of Richmond
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The cheap one ply toilet paper. Little things mean a lot. Not only was it a cookie cutter hotel. It was made to look like a cookie cutter hotel.
Being the parent of a UR sophomore, this hotel has become our home during visits to see our daughter. Accommodating staff and comfortable rooms with first floor access to the parking lot thru patio doors (perfect for move in day). Starbucks bistro in lobby, Home Depot and Office Max across the street. Staples, Target, Walmart and Kroger's supermarket within a...
My family stayed here on August 6 when we visited the university with our son. Like all Marriott Courtyards in which we have stayed, this was a fine hotel by any measure. It was attractive, exceptionally clean, and convenient to many local attractions. For us these included the University and downtown Richmond, where we went for dinner. All staff at...
Stayed here for three nights on business. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean and no issues with timely housekeeping. Room was very small, though; it felt like the bed took up half the room. Free breakfast (corporate booking) was mediocre but the morning, and evening, staff in the bistro were unfailingly pleasant and attentive. The place just felt like...
The front desk person who greeted us, I believe her name was Jep, was lovely, welcoming and very informative. Pool was great.\n\nWell located near the highway. The light when leaving the hotel to turn left onto Broad Street doesn't change; we had to go right and do a U-turn.
When you turn into the parking lot it is quite obvious that this is an old property. Looks 25 to 30 years old. A recent renovation helped overall conditions I am sure, however, this Courtyard is the poorest Courtyard I have ever stayed in. The staff was nice and helpful. Sliding glass doors open to the parking lot and even...
Location\n\nThey charged for breakfast -- Even just coffee.
Marriott always treats guests like family. The professional staff's welcome and helpfulness makes one feel as if they are genuinely glad to have you as a guest. At the Richmond, Va Courtyard special kudos to Adam in the Bistro and Regina at the front desk for exceptional service. Thanks to manager Steve for seeing that everyone's stay at Marriott was...
Stayed at this hotel last July and work laptop was stolen from room. Laptop was in a location only visible to someone looking for it. Was on main level in room with patio door. Marriott did not provide ANY compensation for the loss and their claim process sucks.
This not the hotel for for a stay longer than a night or two.
The lobby and restaurant upgrade cannot make up for the fact that housekeeping staff is overwhelmed by the significant tour business and do not do the superior job of timely room maintenance expected of Marriott and the fully priced room rate. The small, cramped, poorly maintained...
Cleanliness location staff\n\nNo microwaves in the room
The cleaning of the room was hit and miss. Our room was always cleaned very late in the afternoon (6 days in a row) which made the visit seem less than special when you couldn't come back to a cleaned room to shower with clean towels and to change clothes or take a nap without being interrupted. The lucky star cereal from the family before under the bed skirt on the phone side of the bed never...
I stayed at the courtyard for two nights. The bedroom and bathroom was clean. The room did smell stuffy. The room was small and it did feel like an old hotel with updated furnishing. Air conditioner was a little noisy but not terrible. Overall it was good hotel. I slept well in the bed. I did appreciate the balcony with...
Close to U of Richmond. Front desk very helpful as to places to go and places to eat. Our room was fine - the biggest problem is that I needed to ask 3 times to get a sofa bed made up. Once before we left for dinner - came back 2 hours later, not done. Requested again upon return -...
Clean. Had a nice pool too.\n\nThey did not have 2 Queens available upon check in, but they accommodated with King plus pull out sofa
The hotel rooms are nice and are comparable to other courtyards. Staff was nice but many times they weren't present. That's especially true with the meeting facility. There may have been a problem with the A/C but it was very hot in the room and it was set on 65. Rarely saw anyone to check on us. I'm not picky,...
This is a typical Courtyard property. The room was fine, with a good air conditioning system (too often they don't do the job right, but not here). The front desk was efficient, and the room was ready, despite our early arrival of 2:30 PM. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here, but for the price it was...
5 star
What struck me was how friendly the cleaning people were. There were always smiling and seemd interested in our well being.
We were there for a football camp. Arrived late at night and got excellent service at check-in. Very dependable cleanliness and comfort in rooms. Our only negative about this hotel is that the elevators are located far from the lobby -- a long haul when carrying luggage. Probably should have used a cart, but it seemed an odd design, unlike others in this chain.
5 star
The rooms were clean and modern.\n\nI thought all the rooms came with a microwave and refrigerator but my room only had the refrigerator.\n\nI would definitely stay there again :)
The hotel is clean and you can tell it is an older property that was renovated rather recently. The location is quiet considering it is off of a busy street. I have stayed at other Courtyard properties where the service was exceptional, here this was not the case however I was not treated rudely by any means but what was...
The check in was easy and the staff was friendly. The room was very nice, quiet and had all the amenities you would need.
Have stayed here several times. The rooms have the same decor but seem to vary a little in size and overall appearance. Some of the rooms have been excellent. The rate is higher than some nearby options which are similar. Would stay again however.
Room was comfortable and okay for our purposes. I think the breakfast was outrageously expensive for what selection you had, and how it was available. Breakfast should be free in this type of establishment
It wasn't anything out of the ordinary as far as size and amenities go, but it was clean and more than adequate. The staff was friendly and accommodating, allowing us a late checkout of 2:00. I'd recommend it.
The bed was very comfortable.\n\nWe were not able to switch the TV input to make use of our HDMI cable. Watching movies on the TV cost more than going to the theater.
Accommodations were adequate. A/C was really noisy, and noise from adjoining rooms and the hallway carried. The hotel is close to the interstate, but far from the city center and most of Richmond's good restaurants and other attractions.
Room was clean and quite. The bed was comfortable.
Nice people. Great location near freeway. Good breakfast offerings. Quiet. Plenty of parking.
The room was clean, but the hotel was loud. The walls are very thin and I could every conversation taking place on either side of my mine, as well in the hallway. I had called an made a request for additional pillows to be placed in my room, which was not met either.
Everything was ok but food was ridiculously priced - we went out for breakfast
it was good although the room smelled of smoke when you first walked in.
overall great experience, front staff was great!\n\nRoom wasn't ready for check in at 3:00
Decent hotel for the price, although the design of the actual hotel is a little weird.
I went with my family for a wedding. we got ready for the wedding at the hotel and had forgotten a few things. the hotel staff got us in the rooms (both of them) early and helped us with the forgotten items. I have also stayed here in the past for work. Always an enjoyable stay.
The staff could not have been more accommodating or friendly!
Rooms very clean the people at the front desk were very helpful would stay here again
Ein unpersönliches Hotel, in dem sich kein Personal zeigt. Der Pool war geschlossen.
This was a clean hotel and had very good service when we requested things. It location on a divided highway can't be helped, but all the other hotels in the area seemed to have the same issue. We would stay here again.
Just stayed one night. Great service, nice hotel, clean room, no concerns.
We needed a place to stay for one night while dropping our son off at VCU. This isnt the closest hotel, but its only about a 10 minute drive to vcu. Its clean, the rooms are nice, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and you can walk to a great little vietnamese restaurant down the road. There's a nice bar/lounge in the lobby, and a nice swimming pool. And the price was right. No...
It was quiet\n\nGetting off of interstate 95 and getting to the hotel was confusing\n\nWONDERFUL! Comfortable!
Fine, nothing special.
Room was clean, bed comfy! Staff was super nice and free parking! Pool area lovely! Will definitely stay here again!
Hotel was comfortable and very clean. Hotel staff very nice and accommodating. Especially Willa at the front desk. Overall we enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to staying again.\n\nOnly negative is there is only one elevator on each floor so be prepared to walk.\n\nHotel in good location..many restaurants and shopping around..staff very friendly. Rooms clean and spacious.
it has the marriott quality that you expect to find.\n\nthe microwave is in the lobby otherwise its cool hotel.\n\nthe staff was friendly. the ftness center and pool was cool. the room was nice. the business center was nice.
Nice hotel. We appreciated having the made to order breakfasts, the nice lounge areas in the lobby as well as the outdoor patio area in the center courtyard since we were travelling with friends. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The first floor rooms do have patio doors opening to the center courtyard. Close to many restaurants and shopping.
Clean, good location.\n\nNo, it met my expectations for a 3-star hotel.\n\nI stayed here when they first opened in 1987. It has always been a solid location. Not spectacular, but good and dependable.
the staff was wonderful. liked the small café and Starbucks coffee....a little pricey though. Good location many places to eat within easy, close driving distance
The staff was great and placed me in a room that was quite and away from the population. No worries about people above me or noisy neighbors....
Comfortable bed for good night's sleep and close proximity to weekend destination at U. of Richmond. Facility was very clean and well-maintained.
the staff was very helpful and courteous. Twice I asked for special requests and the staff responded perfectly.\n\nno
Very quiet, clean, good location close to the interstate\n\nNothing of note
I am not happy with my stay. When I pulled up the hotel was hidden and paving was taking place on a holiday weekend?? I had to park around the side of the hotel and walk with my bags walking over paving operations. Once I got in the lobby I was waiting for a minimum of 10 min while there was two desk open, a employee was chatting with another one. The location isn't the best and the trash...
Only suggestion is to include breakfast.
Location great.Newly refurbished.\n\nExterior not finished - several areas near entrances that could not be used.\n\nWelllocated,clean and wellmaintained.Nice new bar and bistro area,
The hotel was in a convenient location to University of Richmond. The room and bed were clean. The tv worked.\n\nThe towels weren't as plush as they could have been. But it was clean.\n\nOther than a sign on the highway there is no signage on the hotel itself. There is a sign on the front door for a restaurant called "Bistro". Don't worry, that is the front door entrance.
Was told by priceline that i could extend my stay at the same named price but when i tried to do that i was informed then and only then that i had to commit to it before 11 am even though checkout was 1 pm\n\nwent out about 10 am on sunday and returned about 3 pm and our room hadn t been touched
I went their and I thought wasn't sure if I was at the right hotel when I was their. However it was the correct one. Everyone was friendly and was ready to help me with any request I had.
The staff were very helpful especially housekeeping\n\nNo bar!
Great
The hotel experience I had was wonderful the employees was extra nice. I will stay there again.
Brief but adequate.
The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful.\n\nDidn't have a free continental breakfast.\n\nThe hotel was very clean and had nicely renovated rooms and lobby. Definitely worth the price. The hotel staff was very friendly and helful. I Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Pleasant staff, updated but still dated by original construction, fringe area somewhat isolated from restaurants and shopping, overpriced for area
Comfortable beds, nice clean roooms. Good location related to why we were staying in Richmond. Nice work out room.
Great room and very helpful, friendly staff. Ideal location for my event. Plenty of shops & restaurants nearby. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in Richmond!
The hotel lobby is clean, but very dated. There is no restaurant on site for dinner and very few options close by. The rooms are small, comfortable and clean but curtains and linens are a bit worn. There is a small but well equipped work out room and a nice pool.
The staff at the Courtyard was very friendly and helpful. We have stayed here several times and look forward to staying here again.
