Founded in 2003, The Courthouse Cafe & Collectibles is an eating establishment that serves a variety of menu options. It serves salads, soups, hamburgers, muffins, fried potatoes, pancakes, sandwiches and grilled ham steaks. The restaurant also provides a range of beverages and desserts, such as sundaes, cheesecakes, juices, coffee and hot tea. The Courthouse Cafe & Collectibles has an antique...
I LOVE the Court House Cafe, they have the freshest
scallops I've ever eaten and I have eaten here at least
50 times. The breading is very light and they give you plenty of food. The salad dressings are home made.
The stuffed shrimp is my husbands favorite. From their prime rib to their club sandwich I am never disappointed. I agree their sides are mediocore
but you can't beat thier entrees. I find the waitresses
to be very friendly if you make the effort. I love the
new decor as well! Love it, Love it, Love it!
Everyone there was RUDE! The hostess, the waitress. Nothing like saying "We don't want you here." The food was nasty and the atmosphere was nonexistent (felt like a court room, BEING JUGDED, maybe that is what they were going for.) Baked potato soup was tasteless the fries were under cooked and my fried chicken club was NaStY! Gross, gross, gross. I thought it would be good, hear lots of nice things about that place but after last night, NEVER ever will I go back!
Maybe Court House Cafe needs to get their heads out of their bums. Your a waitress... your not TOO good for ME nor my family. Well then again I was in Great Bridge, everyone there is STUCK UP!
French dip is the perfect sandwich, I like this place, been their 30 years, great food and great service
Wasn't that impressed with the food. I had a turkey melt, which came topped with bacon, lettuce and tomato. Sadly, the best part of the sandwich was the bun. Well, the bacon was good too but...
My favorites:ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Fish Tacos they make on Tuesdays! They have more flavor then any I have EVER had!! EVER!! I am a Fish Taco Snob and I can't even duplicate what the hell they have...
Oh it's been to long. I think about 4 or more years have passed since I last set foot though the CHC doors. We stopped in for lunch June 11th for a late...
Best of the Best. This restaurant hits the nail right on the head. Excellent food and service! Have yet to have anything bad there. The owners get it! If...
Food is always reliably good. Good service. I go there whenever I am in that area of the town.
This restaurant has been around a long time, and the prime rib is one of the reasons! The staff is attentive and the food is always well-prepared,
Love going here because it is not a franchise and the food is very good, they have mouthwatering prime rib among other things. It's also nice because it's local, you're missing out if you don't try it, it's hidden away so don't miss it!
Been going to the Court House Cafe for years an rarely miss a Friday evening. Have gotten to know the staff and they know me and I always get a welcome when I arrive and take my seat. I always dine at the Bar as then I do not dine alone. Always have other patrons to talk with as well...
I really enjoy the Court House cafe. My wife and I have been going there for several years. The She crab soup is, in my opinion, the best I have ever had. I took some business clients from CHarleston SC there and they agreed. The queen cut prime rib has been a staple of mine forever. It is an ample...
Found myself in south Chesapeake with hubby, looking for a hot lunch that wasn't fast food. Local RV dealership recommended Court House Café. CHC did everything perfectly.
What we liked:
1. Susan, our waitress, was friendly and helpful start to finish. She explained what Hatteras clam chowder is (clams/veggies/potatoes in a rich broth served not as thick as the usual...
Always amazing!
Went on a weekend evening, cafe was busy but the service was quick and friendly. The food was yummy. Menu was unique which was nice.
The food was fresh and delicious!!!
Amazing food & the best people -all in one place!!! Thank-you!
One of the best places in Chesapeake to get prime rib, fried shrimp, and the staff are incredible!
Good food and good service...ask for Shannon
Best prime rib around
Great food and friendly people.
Go here all the time. Best prime rib ever!!!. Great specials and the best home made ranch dressing. Very small restaurant so get there early or make a reservation. It is worth it. I always have the prime rib though.
A real sleeper. Ill stick my neck out here. You can travel far and wide and you never get a better prime rib. Simply amazing. Dont let the strip mall and local area fool you. This is top quality food and service.
I really enjoyed the prime rib Philly and the She Crab soup. They were awesome. The service was fantastic too. I wish I could eat there everyday.
The prime rib is the best! Great location for family celebrations. We always celebrate birthdays here.
Our innkeeper recommended this restaurant for dinner and we weren't disappointed.Only a few miles from our inn ((Irish Isle Bed and Breakfast which also was a great find on Trip Advisor) at the end of an unassuming strip mall, CHC offered excellent Prime Rib, tasty Tilapia with Cajun seasoning, creamy SheCrab Soup and great fried oysters. Friendly service and conversation...
Best of the Best. This restaurant hits the nail right on the head. Excellent food and service! Have yet to have anything bad here. The owners get it!
CHC is our version of Cheers. Friendly, everyone knows you, the bartender remembers your preferences and it's a plain, nice gathering place for really good food and drink. Locally owned and operated. Wonderful shrimp, scallops (they won't buy them if they have to charge too much money for them) great wait staff and they're known locally (and deservedly so) for...
I have eaten here for years. Prime Rib is excellent, fried oysters are always good, never overbattered and I enjoy the "lawyer" atmosphere. I have eaten many things on the menu which were delicious. I would get there early for Prime Rib if you like it rare, or as rare as I like it! Portions are healthy. Sometimes, I just...
From the outside you would think this place was either a hole-in-the-wall or a very exclusive club. It was neither, honestly. After debating on whether we...
I had the "best in the city" prime rib, one of my kids had the fried oysters, the other a burger. The rare prime rib I ordered was not rare but medium rare, dry and chewy. The oysters were greasy and the burger was ordinary at best. An hour or so after my teenage daughter ate the oysters she was...
My son and family took us here on a Tuesday evening around 5:15. Ample free parking. We were greeted upon entry and quickly seated (no wait whatever that early) at a table for 6 in the right front of the restaurant - which included a high chair for the younger granddaughter. Server appeared promptly to take our drink orders (no...
This diamond in the rough was delivered to us by our real estate agent. He said, "if you like prime rib, go here". We did-we loved it. I haven't had any other food there besides the prime rib, so I'm a little biased. Try it out.
We always request at least one lunch or dinner at the Court House when we visit Chesapeake. We have never been disappoinsted. Huge portions for the big eaters in the group, the best crab cakes I found have yet and delicious She Crab Soup served with a small pitcher of extra sherry. Weekend nights they are very busy - reservations...
We're seated pretty fast. Orderedxamd the food just was bland. Shrimp just ok. Crab soup ok. Needed lots if Salt. For value go somewhere else. Won't be back soon!
Food and service are good. But do not order an alcoholic beverage. Chances are your drink bill will be more than you food bill.
Court House cafe is an absolute treasure to the entire Hampton Roads' area. I have been going to this restaurant for over 3 years since it was recommended to me by a colleague. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, the wait staff is always courteous and nice, and the quality of the food can't be beat. Try their prime rib...
Great food. Their prime rib has been ranked as the best in the area and I agree with that. Love the sesame-ginger salad dressing. Dining companions have enjoyed the crab cakes, hush puppies, flat iron steaks, and chicken sandwiches, among a wide variety of choices.
I have read the negative reviews of this place, and i just don't get the complaints. This place is in a storefront-sized space, so it can be crowded, especially at busy times. You may have to wait for a table, but the patrons in the bar are friendly, and the wait is usually no more than 15 minutes. It can...
Great homemade food. Love the staff! The prices are great. They even have half off bottles of wine on Mondays:)
I like to bring folks here. The place is beautiful since the remodel, the staff are long timers...and they recognize you if you come in a few times. A huge menu ranging from crisp, cold salads- the way you like them, to an incredible steak that melts in your mouth. If you're a meatloaf fan...you owe it to yourself to...
First Time being served. It was our first time in the Court House. Very busy but wait service was ready to handle the crowd. Very helpful. Delicious meal. House salad was fresh and well prepared. This little off the beaten path site will definitely be on my map. The Prime Rib looked great and will definitely be my next choice. Fried trout we're definitely a good pick the night we were there....
This place has been there for years. Has always had good food but before the smoking ban at the adjoining bar, you couldn't stand to eat through the smoke. Well, new owners and completely remodeled, the food is still great and the service is good. Call for reservations. They can be crowded during prime time.
I live in the Chesapeake area and frequent the Courthouse Cafe more often than any place else. Why? Consistently very good food, attentive and friendly service, and reasonable prices.
Clearly the restaurant was having problems a few years ago. For instance, I read a review here dated 2009 that complained about the prime rib. Here's an update: It was great...
I've been going there for about 25 years and eat there 1 to 2 times a week. Food is greatly and the staff are very friendly. I can't say I have ever been disappointed. The best in Great Bridge.
I love this place. This is by far one of my favorites in great bridge. the small town feel and great prices makes me come back for more. the staff are friendly and know my order every time i come back. great prices, fast service, clean place.
I was referred here by a friend who lives in Chesapeake. Thank goodness I listened to him. This was our first visit here. It was busy but not crazy in the restaurant. The staff was quick and efficient right down to the bus boy. Everything I was told about the food was entirely true. The fried shrimp rivaled Steiney's but...
I eat here about once a week, and have never had a bad meal here. The best are the prime rib and the seafood (crabcake, fried shrimp, clam strips, stuffed shrimp) are all really good. I also love the crabcake sandwich, french dip, and chicken salad. The service is always friendly when we go. We like to sit and eat...
I went here for lunch last week and it was great. They do have a special lunch menu which has some pretty hefty portions. On top of that the food is very,...
Not what it used to be. I have been going to Court House for about 15+ years. It has always been my favorite.. the she crab soup, the french dip, and the prime rib have always been my top picks!
Simply awesome. This is my first visit here since they reopened after the place burned down in 2008 (I think). The Court House Cafe is an institution in Chesapeake and has been around forever. Inside…
Court House Cafe is without question the best resturant in the Great Bridge area. Great seafood and prime rib. Owner used to work there and same Chef for years. Small local rest that is well worth the drive from anywhere in Hampton Roads.
We heard from friends that we could expect the "best" prime rib in town. It was terrible. We had to saw through the meat to cut it, it had no flavor, and was chewy. We should have sent it back - that's how bad it was. The she crab soup had NO flavor. Our friend had crabcakes and said they...
I used to enjoy Court House Cafe, but they have gone dramatically downhill...
I'll never understand the appeal of Court House Cafe. The number one problem...
Everyone there was RUDE! The hostess, the waitress. Nothing like saying "We...
Courthouse Cafe is a lawyer yuppie like hang out that serves good food and dinners.I like a club sandwich with fries so why not stop by and try out the Courthiuse Cafe you'll be glad you did.
One of my favorite Chesapeake restaurants. I have been going there for about 20 years. Even since the change in ownership, the fire, the reconstruction,...
My family and I dined at the Court House Cafe tonight (January 2nd, 2010) at...
...and more to come! We have ordered different items on nearly every visit...
I hve lived in Great Bridge for a couple of years and love going to Court House for Prime Rib, french dip, salads and their pork chops! The staff is really fun and the owner is always super nice!
My husband and I went there for lunch & for the famous She crab soup. I just can't believe anyone with taste buds would ever go back. They don't know sherry is to be used to taste not as a base. I am not sure how long the made the crab stare at the cream sauce but it never made...
Everyone there was RUDE! The hostess, the waitress. Nothing like saying ""We don't want you here."" The food was nasty and the atmosphere was nonexistent (felt like a court room, BEING JUGDED, maybe that is what they were going for.) Baked potato soup was tasteless the fries were under cooked and my fried chicken club was NaStY! Gross, gross, gross. I thought it would be good, hear lots of nice things about that place but after last night, NEVER ever will I go back!
Maybe Court House Cafe needs to get their heads out of their bums. Your a waitress... your not TOO good for ME nor my family....
I moved here three years ago and was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the food, considering the location. The fare is traditional and done well. Almost like "Mom's Best".
Over the past year of going there (even before the fire) I feel the tension in the restaurant is palpable, starting with the hostess who is either reluctant or too...
The ranch dressing was the worse I ever had, it was like water. The sandwich was overpriced and didn't even have a top on it, only the bottom bread. (how cheap can you get?) The scallops were salty and soggy. The prices are outrages for what they serve. The waitress acted like she could care less about our complaints. How this awful place could be considered the best in Chesapeake is a big joke.
Pros
+ Good fried oysters
Cons
- over priced and bad food and service
I was so disappointed in this place today. I had been there years ago and it was great. The scallops were salty and not cooked properly. The ranch dressing was the worse I have ever had, it was like water. The sandwiches were only on half a roll. What do you people do with the other half of our sandwich?...
Not a good place - right round the corner from my home but will NEVER go back. Service was poor food was average and cost was high
I went here several times to hang out with friends. I have tried both their French Dip Sandwich and their Prime Rib. Both these meals were...
Just about the best she crab soup there is. Prime rib excellent.
Love to eat with Judges
This is a samll little hole in the wall that only the locals really know about. Howver, it has amazng food at every meal. You can either si...
On Saturday, October 29, 2005 we [a party of 6] ate at the Court House Cafe on 350 Battlefield Blvd. South. I was travelling from the Boston area and was meeting some old friends that had relocated to Chesapeake. Our waitress Sam was attentive and cordial and the food was good. However, when it came time to pay the bill,...
I went here to get something to eat but mostly i got was ribs for
some reason i got full of of ribs barely touched my soda. i hate
shrimp. but others likeed it. i really do not know how much it really
cost per person but this was the estmate
I have been frequenting the Court House cafe for years. It never ceases to amaze me how they make their prime rib so good, so consistently and sell it so reasonably. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. This is truly a neighborhood restaurant with a personality. It's just the best there is.
Pros
+ excellent food, outstanding service, friendly atmosphere
Great fried shrimp!!!
I used to go to this place often, until I realized that I was going
more because of the convenient location then the actual dining
experience. The food is generally not bad, but the presentation
is sloppy at best and I found the wait staff not to be friendly or
service oriented. Now, I drive on by and spend my money elsewhere.
nieghborhood gathering place witha full bar and excellent food.
casual dress but no tank tops or ball caps. great service. prime
rib a good choice. salads and sandwiches are great. go on friday
for lunch to get the best fish deals anywhere.
ihave been there 10 times.
The best she-crab soup in the area!
Best prime rib around. Daily specials also great. Seafood a second specialty
after prime rib. Only place to get great carry out (sandwiches, burgers,
salads, a king cut prime rib if you want!)
