Chow celebrated their two year anniversary in September. I am confident that many have still not tried it yet which is a shame. I too am guilty for setting...

After reading the many favorable reviews, we chose CHOW for some great Fried Chicken and southern food. The Fried chicken was moist, but utterly tasteless. We immediately sent back an order of mashed potatoes/gravy, my mac & cheese, and an entire order of the Rice/Bean/Sausage bowl for being lukewarm to cold, to be reheated. The coleslaw was not too bad...

I had my first experience at Chow. From the outside, I was not expecting much. Finding parking was a bit challenging but once we got inside we were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated promptly. We did not have reservations so we took a risk because the place is pretty small. They had their menu on a chalkboard; all...

Once again the food and service was at its peak of perfection! My wife and I took some friends and they ranted and raved how good it was for them and a must to return again. By the way it was very busy and still great food and service.

My wife and I have gone to Chow many times over the last couple of years so I thought it was about time to write a review. Chow is simply excellent. The atmosphere is casual and inviting and the staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food is inventive, tasty, plentiful, and moderately priced. I’d call it creative southern cooking...

My wife and dropped by for dinner and found it just as good as during our visit last August. It's just a good comfortable, Southern-style restaurant. Our two meals were excellent and service was equally good. We ordered salads and entrees and were pleased at the size and quality of the mixed green salads. The lamb shepherd's pie and red...

Went for dinner last night. They were busy but the wait was short. We shared a Mussels with chorizo appitizer that was delicious, spicy but not overly so. I had their "famous" fried chicken, crispy but not dry with sides of grits and fries (Carb city but delicious!) My daughter had the pork chop which she seemed to enjoy very...

We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions , but the past few times we went the service was horrible. Went this week and after sitting for 30 minutes we still did not have a drink. When we finally were able to order our appetizer came out incomplete. It was a dish with 4 items on it yet 1...

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Chow's bistro. They serve traditional southern food with a unique twist. I enjoyed the fried oysters with mashed sweet potatoes. Delicious! I would also recommend the fried chicken and sweet potato pancakes.
I hope to visit again while I'm in the area.

Loved the selection of great homestyle food. I had the wedge salad with fried oysters. Another in our party had some of the best fried chicken he's ever had over a huge sweet potato pancake. Definitely recommend this place for great food and service.

We tried Chow after my partner tried it with her son. I was not disappointed. It has table service and a large counter where one can also choose to be served. The place was very busy on Sunday morning with people ordering Brunch and Lunch. The menu is unbelievable diverse and be warned the portions are LARGE. We tried the...

This is the kind of place you don't want to give a good review to because you want to keep it for yourself. The varied menu is heavy into Southern comfort, with great flavors and choices. The menu is just as described by others. I loved my brussel sprouts and peanut butter, banana and bacon grilled sandwich. But what was most remarkable was the staff. Our server was prompt, and attentive, but not the least bit intrusive. And best of all, he knew the beers well enough that he had no hesitation answering my questions. Then,...

Went for dinner on a Sunday evening on the recommendation of a neighbor. What a pleasant surprise! Have eaten at Chow several times and will return again. The food is "Southern homestyle" and very delicious. They can be crowded but do not let that deter you or you will be sorry. Service has always been attentive and good. Enjoy!

Great southern cooking with some flair. This is a great place to get a country fried steak! It wasn't quite a hanger, i.e., so large it hung off the plate, but it was quite big and very delicious. The cornbread was fantastic. Very moist and slightly sweet. Mac 'n' cheese was really good too and I found no fault with the mashed potatoes. Can't wait to go back.. Had dinner here and it was phenomenal! The menu consists of mostly down home country style cooking. I tried the country fried steak and it was perfect. Generous portions of delicious homestyle Southern influenced food with a touch of panache made with fresh, quality ingredients, a very good selection of adult beverages, friendly service, and a clean, relaxed casual atmosphere have made this Norfolk gem of a restaurant one of my favorite places in the area for a wonderful dinner date night with my love. Cheers and two enthusiastic thumbs up.

It seems this place is trying too hard to "be hip" mainly because of the chalkboard menus. Cool idea for a second, but no. I'm not sure if it was an off day for Chow when we went this past week but the food was awful. Fried chicken was very bland and oily. Mac & cheese tasted like it was from a box. Mashed potatoes was bland. The collards were good but that's about it.

After hearing mixed reviews about Chow, we decided to venture in to see for ourselves ... and were not disappointed! At 5103 Colley Ave, it is located away from the hustle and bustle. Do not expect to see a menu in hand. You must read all the menu boards on the wall for their diverse menu options. I had the Crab Pot Pie, and it was wonderful! The light filo bread square on top was perfect to cover the large...

I was kind in my earlier review, but after several months I have to say this place is awful. I only live a block away, so of course I wanted it to be as wonderful as Shucks or Tortilla, but after a dozen visits, Chow continues to disappoint. Yes, its popular. But so is Justin Beiber.
