Very nice course in excellent condition when we played there back in June. Greens were true and fairways were in perfect condition. Would definitely play there again. One caution would be carful if looking for a ball in the rough as my son saw a large snake there.
Prior to playing for the first time today, I had heard the course was one of the best in Hampton Roads. The staff was very welcoming in both the pro shop, and the grill. The course was in great shape, and fairly challenging. I look forward to my next round.
Cahoon is in great condition. Tee boxes are a little chewed up but that's expected anywhere that gets heavy play. Fairways are in good shape. If lazy people would repair there divots the fairways would be perfect. Please get some sand in those bunkers. Greens are great. They roll nice.
Golfnow should update their info. The course is 18 holes, with 4-5 sets of tees, black, blue, white, gold, red. The picture shown no longer exist.
1st time we played this course, had heard good things and we got a great deal on Golfnow. Wide open fairways, rough was thick and if you didn't follow your shot through the landing you could easily lose a few balls. Staff was very friendly, both pro shop attendants and the marshal who checked on groups on the course, after our round we spent a few minutes chatting with them, found out one was...
If you haven't been to Cahoon plantation you need to give it a try. I'm confident you will enjoy the experience, as well as come back again !!!
the course is very fun to play and is always in great condition.
great layout, well maintained and friendly staff-- nice challenges in both distance and precision.
Course is challenging and fun to play. View's were great even with the housing construction going on. Fairways and greens are very well taken care of. Greens are fast with many undulations. Looks easy but the course is very demanding and you need to place your ball in the right position for your next shot. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will play here again and recommend anyone to try...
This course is beautiful even with the construction around it, very well taken care of. But if your an average joe golfer stay away there are no rules posted on course and you are being watched not only by staff but by members living near the course. If your looking for a place to become a seasoned golfer this is for you, if your the typical weekender or hey I got a day off why not hit the...
The course golf carts were restrcted to cart path only. The fairways were dry and I have seen them after watering when they were under no restrictions. 90 would have sufficient .
Greens are fast and true to hole and in great shape
The course is in great shape and the weather for an August Day was unbelievable.
Tough long first cut of rough, otherwise greens were rolling true and course was in great condition.
Fun course to play . The fairways are tacky looking to me because of the lazy people that cant fix their divots.. just my opinion!
As always the course plays hard if you are in the fescue fairways. Rough was about 4 inches and around the greens around the same but the fescue roughs are VERY CHALLENGING AND DIFFUCULT WHEN NOT CUT DOWN. Stay in the fairway. Greens where hard and tight with no spin and not slow but not speedy. Always a delight to play but moved to slow today at about 5 hours 10 mins
Course was in really good condition from tee to green. Rough was very thick and a sure penalty if you miss the fairway, and the greens were VERY fast (but true). We played on a super windy day, so that made this course even more challenging than normal. I was surprised at how quiet the course, but it sure was nice to get through in just over three hours as a s Sunday morning twosome.
Their pace of play is always bad. There are no marshals on the course to monitor.
This course is great for the golfer. It is probably withing the top 5, certainly 10 courses in Hampton Roads. Well groomed. Great practice grounds and kid friendly. Regarding play, you will be penalized in the rough. Thickest in the area. Greens are fair and fast.
Glad to see that their prices are reasonable. 15+ years ago it was some $70+ to play!!! They had a different landscape then: I think another nine holes, I remember a super cool driving range, and...
This was my first time playing in VA beach and it won't be the last. This course was off the beaten path but well worth the half hr drive from the beach. It was very busy, making for a slow round (just over 5 hrs) but that is the only negative thing I can say. The course was in great shape, it was challenging but playable, and for $50 during peak time you can't beat it.
Played on 13 Feb, so you can expect a course to have a little winter wear, but Cahoon was in good playing shape. 90 degree rule, and the sandtraps were in some of the best conditions for any course in the area. Temps hit a high in the low 50's around 2PM, then by 5 PM, it was snowing.
Course conditions were above average for February in Virginia. The staff is always friendly here too. My only complaint was on #11. There were approximately 4 or 5 grounds crew working in the fairway with equipment. They drove all over the fairway for several minutes and never waived us threw or acknowledged us on the tee box for several minutes. We finally just hit our shots hoping not to...
A great day with sunny skies and temps in the low 70's so we could wear golf shirts. Course was in good shape but wet from rains we had the day before. Greens were slow and fairways had little roll. Played at noon and had no one in front of us until the 12th hole so that made it nice.
Great course. Great conditions year round. One of a few courses with similar course conditions year round. Fast greens, green fairways, nice tee boxes
Nice course. Nice to play on green fairway grass in December. Most other courses have Bermuda grass and were all dead. Course was a little soggy but it is december. Greens were good. Played with another single and we finished in under 3:15. All in all a very nice golf experience.
Love to play at Cahoon. Keep up the great work you all are doing to make it an enjoyable course to play. Kudos to everyone involved. John
this course condition is excellent!! green, fairway etc. you dont need to choose expensive ones.
Very nice course but extremely wet. According to a member I played with, its due to the excessive watering by the grounds grew. The greens were very soft as were the fairways. Tee shots got no roll out and approach shot stuck. Dry this course out and it will be diamond in the ruff as the ruff is 3-4 inches thick.
Nicely laid out holes. Challenging with diversity. Construction in progress so a bit noisy and busy.
This is the perfect place to play a round and relax during an afternoon.
I have played Cahoon a number of times and it is always the same slow play. They have a ranger that rides around and tell you how far he can hit a golf ball but cant seem to do his job and move slow players along. Instead he gives away golf ball to them. We were a two sum and had a 3 1/2 sum which was a little kid about 7-10 which neither of the adults had the courtsey to let us play through...
We played as a two sum. It took us 5 1/2 hrs to play. There was a ranger driving around telling us how far he could hit the ball but did little to improve the pace play. So my advice to any golfer that hates slow play and a ranger who makes friends with 3 sums and 4 sums buy giving them golf balls instead of moving them along or suggesting to let a 2 sum play through. Don't play Cahoon. I have...
I have heard a lot of hype about this course. I played it and it exceeded my expectations. Very nice course and had a lot of fun!
Had an 0848 tee time and did not tee off until 0912. Course allowed 2 twosomes to tee off separately in front of 3 foursomes, although the course has a published policy prohibiting this. 18 holes took over 5 hours.... Ridiculous !!
Overall course is a nice challenge and good value for the money but they water the course too much. Had to clean mud off my ball on every green. Not sure why they are watering so much.
I love playing at Cahoon. It is a very tricky course that makes you make plenty of risk-reward decisions. Their deep bermuda rough makes you pay for errant shots and the greens are top notch.
The cousre was in great shape but you need to stay in the fairways if you want to score. The rough is the rough for lossing balls and adding extra club to get any distance. You will have sandfill your divots on every shot in the fairways. Good challenge.
This course used to be one of the best in the area. The greens are beat up. Fairways are better than most. For the money, just not worth it any more.
There is no reason that you should have 4"-6" rough entirely over the golf course. It not only lines the fairways but all hazards as well as every green. It looks as though the greenskeeper is trying to save money by not mowing. If you are getting ready for a tournament, maybe grow it up but not to these heights unless the big boys are coming to town. It is no fun losing balls because you can't...
Excellent course! Great afternoon round of golf and would definitely recommend to a friend.
Had friends in from out of town and they loved the course.
Doglegs, undulations, elevated greens, well-placed fairway and green sand traps, some water. Greens have good speed, but course requires some strategy to score well. One of best public courses in the Hampton roads area. Plays longer than the card yardage.
Played here Friday with a group of guys for my bachelor party. Course got a ton of rain Thursday. Many courses in the area were not playable. Cahoon drains very well. Cart path only, but it was to be expected with the amount of rain that we had.
Played very quickly on a Thursday, just over 3 hours. Course is intermingled in a very nice housing development in Chesapeake, Va.
The course is beautiful but to hit the green with a long shot and not be able to find you're ball one foot off the green is ridiculous , I haven't seen to many tour players out there . MOW the fringe let the ball roll off a little
The course was in great shape, the greens were very soft even though it was very hot.
Great greens a little confusing on course lay out a bit of drainage problems on some holes but overall challenging good course
While Cahoon was a little on the wet side, it played surprisingly fair. Hitting fairways are a must, with side-hill lies abundant throughout the course. Greens were manicured and rolling at a good clip. Challenging holes with forced carries will certainly give the average golfer a hard time. Only complaint, the grounds crews didn't appear interested in oncoming golfers. Kind of annoying.
I forgot that when you go wide you will likely lose the ball. Unfortunately some of my shots got a little loose so my score was not so good but the course is a great layout and in good shape.
