The Black Pelican Restaurant Review

Be it for lunch, dinner or just a quick after-beach bite, every diner's fancy will be met at The Black Pelican. The lunch menu has options like the tuna melt made with fresh local tuna along with burgers, fried seafood baskets or a selection from the steamer --- clams, mussels, even Dungeness crab legs. Small entrées are also available, such as the Baja lime-rubbed mahi or a rusticana chicken...

We started out with New England Clam Chowder. If you could call dishwater with the smallest (and I mean small) cubed potatoes and still looking for the clams, The fried calamari was right out of the frozen calamari bag, It was so fried you know that it was not made in house. We decided not to go to extreme and...

Went with family on off season. Brad, our server was efficient and pleasant. The special was grouper and was told it was very fishy tasting. The prime rib was good, the bbq ribs were overcooked and dry, the scallops wrapped in bacon was adequate and the Mahi Mahi was outstanding, and the tuna Nagano was excellent. Overall it was decent...

We visited the Pelican for lunch and were treated to super-delicious food, from a warm crab dip with chips to delicious crabcake sandwiches, mahi mahi and pulled pork on a hard roll. Really tasty, well-timed delivery, friendly service, great view of the surf. Server was on top of all needed things; shared the BEST KEY LIME PIE EVER afterward!

We've eaten at the Black Pelican around a dozen times - they never fail to amaze us !! We still think they have the best calmari, we have had great, but never as good as at the Black Pelican. We had a group of 10 for lunch, I had shrimp and grits - out of this world. Spicy, my mouth...

The WORST meal in North America. The clam chowder was stale tasting packet veg stock with what looked like processed shrimp "meat" thrown in the bottom. I've been coming here for 15 years. In the last 3-4 quality has fallen off noticeably and service has become a joke.

Holy confusing, overpriced tourist trap, Batman! This one tries to be all things to all people - romantic, kid-friendly, casual, not casual...and the layout alone confused more than one guest during our visit. One family thought they were being seated near us, sat down, had drinks, and then were told by another hostess that that wasn't their table. The Fisherman's risotto was good. The history...
